Why does the steam sale undercut the DCS store?

Also, does more of my money make it into the hands of the devs instead of steam's pocket if I purchase directly through ED?

I'd be happier to pay a few quid extra if it does.

O.o its true... and very strange. I remember, that ~10 hours ago (right after sales have started) discount on steam was 50%. Most probably if You buy your game on steam, certain amount of money goes to the valve.

I just bought the Mi-8MTV2 and that just abouts completes my collection. The only thing I don't have is Combined Arms, but I'm just wondering if it is any good?

its pretty alright a the sale price, gives you something to do when you dont feel like flying, theres also suppose to be an update coming for it in the not too distant future, with radar screens, and some other goodies.

Is it as good and well made as A-10C module? No.

Does it make missions a lot more interesting and dynamic, without the need for complex scripting? YES! Especially true in multiplayer, when you can control troops and sometimes jump in to a tank to see things from a different perspective and even mark targets with laser.

or you hide behind a building with a TOR, and wait for some poor sap, then you ruin his day, the wonders of that, i really cant wait for radar screens, and more stability when using CA.

2. Most likely :B

1. No particular reason and it's still cheaper for EU customer to buy directly from ED since Steam atm. I'm guessing for US the Steam deal it's better.

Personally i'll buy directly from the developer, all things being equal, but i'm as cheap as anyone else :B. That being said i actually bought all my modules from ED even though the best deal i saw was probably something like 5 bucks for the A-10C on Origin at some point.

I like taking control of a SAM around a bridge and using it to get the A-10's and SU-25's playing whack-a-mole while you weave in and out and side to side and pop off a few rounds at them.

Sure, if they're half decent they should be able to take care of you in short order, but some guys will waste a truck load of ammunition on you and that alone can be satisfying.

Atleast for me the price makes almost exactly the same. Because on DCS site the prices are in dollars and in my steam in Euros.

Someone might remember me as 'FlyingRussian' from the Ubisoft Lock-On forum back in '03

That is the true fun in CA and it seems it´s one of the few places where camping isn´t frowned upon. :D

The US steam sale is only 50% off, so it's not better. My question is can i activate my purchases here into DCS world on steam. maybe using the serial codes?

It was 66% earlier today

Steam sales have a system where during the entire sale there is a certain percentage off, i.e. 50%. Then there are 'Flash Sales' (which choose four titles already on sale and discount them further but only lasts 8 hours) and Community Choice sales, where the steam members vote between three existing items for further discount.

The DCS Modules were picked as a 'Flash Sale' and were 66% off for 8 hours, and that finished about 11AM PST this morning. The price has returned to 50% off.

In theory, the DCS titles might come up in the Community Choice sales too, but the chance is pretty small (i.e. 3000 titles in Steam, and it's meant to be a surprise).

Flash sales and community choice sales tend to do very well. Lots of people buy a title which is simply on great discount. Which means more money for ED. That is a good thing. I know a number of people who bought and enjoyed A-10C, but did not even realize there was a Black Shark 2, Flaming Cliffs 3, P-51 ect. as they were not on Steam (now they are) and never showed up on discount.

Its cheaper to buy from ed least here in Finland, dollars vs euro rate

I saw most of the modules on sale on Steam yesterday for 66% at £10.19. Didn't have the money though. Came to buy them today, not realising they were on a flash sale, as I have some money in my bank account today and found they're now just on sale at £14.99.

So, I went to ED's e-shop and bought the UH-1H in dollars for £12ish - roughly £2.50-£3 cheaper than on Steam. I plan on buying BS2 also before the sale ends if I can cobble together the cash (I have BS1 so I'm not in a rush to get BS2).
