...This skepticism is strange for lack of better words.

You know that story: "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"?

In a nutshell (if you don't want to read the whole thread and couple of other boards):

All this mess started when (former?) head of the team went public and gave a statement that project is basically cancelled due to several reasons, money and internal differences stated as the most prominent. Couple of team members went public with their statements, which basically were about that they don't know what's going on and that project is alive and kicking from their point of view. The community reacted, well, in expected manner, the ED shut down the sub forum, to prevent further damage until dust settles.

It seems that resolve is near, but the community has been already bitten once ... until everything is confirmed by the formal statement of the team (it should be very soon), some skepticism is inevitable ...

And if you read the earlier pages, such announcement was coming. Just relax, have a coke and a smile ;)

You did not understand what I meant with "Paper is patient", eh? :o)

Danilop, thanks for that quick summary. That helps to put things in the perspective.

@flagrum, I understand but that is not so uncommon with mod teams, which is what this really is. For me as long as there is something being reported on their dev site means there is at least one person committed to it. It is not easy to recover the project after ill dealings with hostile team members, arguments in the team etc...This usually causes delays. I hope they still have all expertise available in the team. Dealing with frustrated fans (customers) does not help either, so i am not surprised that they are not here debating each post.

I understand all that. And I am sure, everyone involved is doing their best to solve the issues. But claims like "we are still on track" after the incident might have just been attempts to calm down the worries here - and maybe not much more. Why? Because now, after three weeks, it seems that things can not be straightened out so quickly. And considering the severe potential consequences this all could result into (there is quite some money involved) this I find as worring as I find it understandable ...

edit:

To make it more clear (hopefully :o) - I am not worried that there might be delays of the project. Tbh, if the Mig is released in March or April - I don't care (so much). What worries me is, that things might be more serious than we might have hoped for after the other devs postings here ... and that (still) the whole project as such is in danger.

Why does it take 2 weeks to put a statement together and post it?

Perhaps they want to have something to demonstrate significant progress along with the statement?

I'm maybe too close to the irresponsible end of the speculative posting spectrum here.

Two quick things:

1) We've been on track and essentially "back to work as normal" for a significant amount of time now.

2) It's taking us a long time to make a statement / announcement because bureaucratic things need to be in order for that to take place. This does not take a trivial amount of time.

So, basically the problems are in fact solved and only formalities stand in the way for a concluding, "official" statement?

You might have to reconsider yuor needs because those pesky 21's won't be so easy to shoot ;)

WOW! Thanks for the info cichlidfan. Guess I'll be doing some reading to get caught back up.

It's quite a silly journey we've been on this last month or so. I'm glad you've got the chance to catch up on it after it's happened (or towards the end of it happening) rather than hanging on in anticipation.
