dburne Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I wouldn't bother changing the pedal (brake) tension. It's tricky, and doesn't make much of a difference. Yeah I saw that, I am fine with the pedals brake tension as it is. May adjust the angle up slightly. AlphaOneSix Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Anybody heard anything about a different foot plate design that allows me to have my heels on the floor (as in simped or saitek pro combat)? Alternatively, anyone using heels on the floor with the standard foot plates that can tell me how you set it up and how well it works for you?

Blade_meister Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Anybody heard anything about a different foot plate design that allows me to have my heels on the floor (as in simped or saitek pro combat)? Alternatively, anyone using heels on the floor with the standard foot plates that can tell me how you set it up and how well it works for you? I used the Saitek Flight Pedals with heels on the slide plates and liked that setup. It worked well and I was concerned about using the Crosswinds with my feet totally on the pedals. I thought, well I will work something out where I can use Heels on the floor with the Crosswinds. Now that I have the Crosswinds and have used them for a while I can honestly say that I like my feet totally on the pedals better. The Crosswinds are so adjustable on the angels and width spacing, toe brake angle and throw adjustment that I took maybe 30 minutes to play around with them and find a setup I liked and I have not changed them since. I think Milan is designing and intending to sell some foot plates like you are looking for, but I doubt I will ever buy them as the factory Crosswind foot plates are superb. I would suggest getting the Crosswinds and trying the original design as they are excellent in the current configuration. Sometimes you have to take a chance and try new designs. I sure am glad I did not pass over the Crosswinds for this reason because they are the best piece of Hardware in my kit now and I Love them, I wouldn't trade or sell them for anything else.:smilewink: S!Blade<><

I had been using the Saitek Combats for a few years and was concerned how I would adapt, it was very easy and I really like the design. xaoslaad Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 The only problem I have is that the pedals are further off the ground than the Saiteks. My legs bang into the desk when I use breaks. Using a different lowe chair when I fly helps some, but it's still tight. Fortunately for flying its not bad so its just a matter of adjusting my posture when I land; wish the profile was a little lower is all. The full foot pedals are very easy to get used to otherwise.
AlphaOneSix Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 It's just very unnatural for me. Everything I've ever had the privilege to be at the controls of has had me put my heels on the floor, and that is very much ingrained into how I fly. I think I'd be willing to give it a shot, but if my only safety net is hoping to get a decent resale out of them if I don't like it, then I'm not sure I'm interested in the steep initial investment. I'd rather have crappy Saitek Pro Combat or Cessna pedals. But we'll see... Thanks for the info.

AlphaOneSix Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I know I may sound curmudgeonly (great word, and sadly it applies to me more and more often these days) and I don't mean to. I am sure these pedals will meet my needs. Thanks for all of the input, it's truly helpful. Now I just need to present my case to my Chief Financial Officer (wife) for approval. Should be okay, she was about to buy me a set of Bose A20's for Christmas before I stopped her to redirect the money elsewhere.

dburne Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) Milan's order books are full :) I got a mail with estimated delivery of March. It will be well worth the wait believe me. I finally started playing around with some of the adjustments, the pedal angle comes stock at the lowest ( 20 degrees), so when the toe brakes are fully depressed the pedals are at 0 degrees. ( toe brakes have 20 degrees of travel). I adjusted mine up a little, around 28 degrees, to give more of an angle to them and I think I like that better. Very easy to do, just loosen two screw, adjust, and re-tighten. There are calibration marks on the side for reference. One thing, when adjusting toe brake angles one needs to run the MFG calibration software again to recalibrate the toe brakes, as the angle change does change the calibration that was set at the previous angle. I also have been adjusting the main spring tension to get it more about where I want. Very easy to do as well, just turn the adjusting knob to increase or decrease tension. Going to try out cam 4 and cam 5 here soon just to see the difference versus the installed cam 6 profile. Cam 6 though feels pretty darn good to me. I would also note, I have no deadzone and no curvature set in the game GUI controller setup for these pedals. I have only a .5 degree deadzone set in the MFG calibration tool ( by default), and it all feels very good to me. Still doing a lot of flying in the KA-50, these pedals have really helped my co-ordinated turns and especially my landings. Milan MFG Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 to Lausbub78 : Yep, first 12x sets of MFG Crosswinds shipped at start of August 2013 ... For everyone : Thank you for keeping this thread alive !!!!! I'm sure your positive comments here get some more orders for MFG Crosswinds. So thanks for sharing your satisfaction here. I will be free to give you some Exclusive news : MFG will start to sell warthog extensions in February 2016. priced somewhere around 30 eur + VAT and shipping. We are currently testing some samples and waiting some cables to arrive from cable manufacturers before we know exact price. We made a decision to produce extensions because we will probably need these in our own gymbal design too. But most importantly, after evaluating the cost of production... others are ripping you off for a piece of aluminum pipe and one cable !!! In fact others make more profit on one piece of pipe and a cable than we make on MFG Croswind which is a really complex and high quality product....that's something where I went crazy ...huh. We were so focused on producing pedals that we didn't bother much what others are doing...and current available warthog extensions are just to expensive so we decided to jump in ! I just wanted to share this with you first. I'll probably publish the news in January, send a newsletter to all of our customers in January, and get our web shop running in February 2016 with extensions in stock. I might also set a poll regarding what extension lengt you prefer so I get a decent quantity produced. I'll keep you informed Happy New Year everyone ! Milan 1
