You're just a guy who's read a lot of books, and knowledge is pouring out of his ears, and he has to brag about it. That's not the point. Just like it's not the point that Chuck created a very good manual.

I ordered a RTX 5090 FE...what have I done?
rapid replied to rapid's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Going by what I read in the Manual and the above advice looks like it is better to populate M2_1 only and just use lower M2_4_5 if required. Drat! DDR5 Ram not coming now till the 6th August . -
I am wondering the same. While the flight model of the DCS F16 has been improved over the past years a lot, why does it not affect the take off behavior too. Probably a separate look up table for take off behavior that was not changed according to the other flight model adjustments.

The cold start training mission for the F/A-18 also occasionally shows slight HUD offset. I’ll upload a track file later. This seems to be a probabilistic issue — it doesn’t happen every time, but it’s relatively easy to reproduce. For now, my workaround is to re-align the INS every time I hot start, and I avoid switching to IFA while still on the ground, as I suspect it may be related to the issue.

Freezing/DCS crash at Mission Wrath of Euphrates
STONE SKY replied to CoolCat74's topic in DCS: AH-64D Outpost Campaign
DCS reports attempts by mods to override existing units or ammunition types. This does not necessarily cause a crash, but it can lead to instability, especially when a mission includes conflicting objects. Recommended actions: Remove or disable any mods that are not currently in use. Update all mods, especially the following: HighDigitSAMs IJN naval mods (numerous duplicate shell definitions) A5M4 Claude, B7A Grace, Ki-27 Nate, and similar AI aircraft -

Someone in this video create a pink block in Blender, injected it to the cessna cockpit, then added it to MSFS. null nullThen he managed to get a nice MR blend. I understand that in DCS, one needs to use the blender EDM Exporter. Would anyone know how to something similar for DCS, taking care of the texture or mesh files in the right mod folder? This will make a nice MR result. But I am clueless about Blender and DCS texture mod. I can achieve MR using VD and OpenKneeboard. But the latter requires constant realigning with DCS virtual cockpit. Fixing a pink block merged with the cockpit in DCS then let VD do the passthrough will give us a good result like the MSFS video above. null null

In fact, I was able to reproduce this issue on other multiplayer servers as well. However, the HUD offset doesn’t always occur to the same degree — sometimes it’s just a slight deviation. There was still no crosswind in the mission. During landing, I tried to place the FPM (Flight Path Marker) on the runway centerline, but the actual flight path of the aircraft was offset from the centerline.

Comms menu, move location on screen… semi solved
draconus replied to MadKreator's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
That'll work unless ED make changes to the file - then it's better to edit the new file instead of copying modded but older version. - Today

Thanks for the review! Have you tried adjusting radar settings for clutter? Sometimes tweaking those helps with ground returns.

If you guys want specifics why not just compare the DCS F4U to descriptions from actual pilots? Spin as described by a pilot, 2000ft apparently needed to recover: And what we now have, prompt recovery and only 550 feet lost! About the same spin characteristics as a Cessna 172 which I have spun in real life several times. Spin was much more dramatic pre July 23 update. Torque as described by pilots: Torque as we now have it, aircraft in landing configuration, full throttle rapidly applied. A little bit of left yaw, no real roll. The first two I don't touch the controls, the last one I hold to show how it can be countered by just the tiniest amount of right pedal and stick. Nothing even the least experienced pilot can't handle, but apparently a fatal danger to fighter pilots? It will "turn the airplane over"? This also was much more closely aligned to testimony from real pilots before the July 23 update.

investigating 2.9.12.5336 FA-18C AGM-84D Harpoon BOL - wrong bearing
BJ55 replied to BJ55's topic in Bugs and Problems
Use a map with a big magvar, launch from distance (>40nm) and observe the difference from commanded magnetic bearing and missile flight path magnetic bearing, the difference is explained in my previous comment, this leads to the target being outside of missile radar search cone. Freezing/DCS crash at Mission Wrath of Euphrates
CoolCat74 replied to CoolCat74's topic in DCS: AH-64D Outpost Campaign
Little update on this: I tried it again yesterday, without using DCS Bios. This time it worked and I could finish the mission. Maybe just a coincidence, but I found out everytime the mission freezed, DCS Bios also stopped working. I use the latest version of it and all the other missions worked fine. So I don't now if it corresponds to that. -

I had exactly the same, with the new Pimax Play I got a spike every few seconds, very annoying, before that it was running smooth (i9 14900 & RTX4090ti). I then uninstalled Pimax Play and installed an older version (1.29) and everything was smooth again. HOWEVER…..when I restarted the PC after playing for a while without issues, I got the message that my headset was unavailable and I couldnt connect the headset anymore. I then reinstalled the latest version of Pimax Play again, and to my amazement, all the stutters and spikes were gone!!!! Its running smooth now with the new version

investigating CTD after commanding George to engage FCR target

Try to make your own mission and test it that way. In my experience, a lot of problems stem from missions being bugged themselves. -
JTF - 111 - Recruiting F16, F18, and Helicopter pilots
Richstall replied to Richstall's topic in Squadron Recruiting
Looking for 16, 18 and Heli Pilots! -
I agree, seeing these massive ships just pop-in at very short distance (looks to be around no more than 3km) looks just awful. Persian Gulf map has this set extremely well so Syrian map really needs this changed to match PG map. Otherwise Syrian map is great to me.

Thanks for the reply @Silverdevil. I have tried to open DCS.exe from inside the BIN folder (see first attached log) and the BIN-mt folder (2nd attached log) which ends up with the same results (blank launcher screen). I changed the name of the options.lua file located to options-old27Jul25.lua located in the following path Savedgames>DCS.openbeta>config>Options.lua and ran the DCS.exe files in both BIN & BIN-mt folders and noticed a new options.lua file hasn't been created in the savedgames>>config folder. how do I check to ensure I have the recent visual c++ 14.44.35211 installed? and if I don't what are the steps to install it? ** Edit: confirmed latest visual c++ installed, see screen shot** Thanks again for the help. dcs.log dcs.log

List of paid aircraft modules that support visible Pilot Body for VR users
TORC replied to TORC's topic in Virtual Reality
OK, full update of the list is done! Thanks for your patience and help, everyone Notable changes: I've broken out the Flaming Cliffs modules (and the Su-25T, which shares their lack of cockpit-clickability) into a separate table in the document. It was too confusing to have the high fidelity module and the low fidelity module right next to each other in the same table, and made the "Jet Fighters and Trainers" table a bit too big. I also feel that people who are in the market for a Flaming Cliffs module aren't the same audience as those who are in the market for a full fidelity module, so hopefully this makes sense to everyone. The F4U-1D Corsair is added to the list, I guess they disabled the torso movement with the latest patch until they can fix it, as I didn't observe it (the torso moves a bit with control manipulation now, but not when you look to the left or right). As per the color coding guide this puts the module in the "[GREEN]" category. The F-5E Flaming Cliffs module uses the old F-5E/FA-18 pilot model, which is a bit disappointing. I was expecting it to use the new F-5E Remastered pilot model with the updated torso movement and larger kneeboard. I'm not sure when this happened, but the pilot model in the Christen Eagle now has a bit of torso movement when looking around. The movement is reasonable - I'd guess you're strapped in pretty tight in an aerobatics aircraft - but unfortunately the hands aren't rigged perfectly to the controls so the throttle comes through the left hand when looking about. This puts the module in the "[GOLD]" category, and I've updated the list to reflect this. I will update the first post later this week, I'm toying with the idea of trying to include the tables in the post in some form but I'll need to see how well / if the forum software supports that. Thanks again to everyone who has contributed and pushed me to keep this going!- 50 replies

Sky/Clouds/Scenery overexposed around the sun
Starfall116 replied to broderbund67's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
I am still experiencing this issue with the Pimax Crystal Light. I have a note into Tech Support, but no matter what direction I look it seems a good 20% or more of the sky is washed out and totally washes out my HUD on the Viper. It makes it extremely hard to drop bombs. This is definitely not the sun effect that is realistic, it's way too powerful for some reason. Hoping to get to the bottom of it! -
Useful Tips about f14 after touch down on runway
RustBelt replied to Ddg1500's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I mean, until the ground to wheel physics is working correctly I see anything past touch down as just Role play not simulation. -
I'm always a bit nervous about doing anything with the firmware/software driving my WW devices. Logging into SimAppPro I go a message that an update was available, so I installed it. Now looking at my devices - 3 displays, TOP2, and UFC/HUD - they all show both the Current and Latest firmware versions as the same, but also with "Update" buttons available. I also get a warning message about other devices and USB connections. So I'm confused, do I still need to run the "update" or is my installed firmware up to date.

interpreting Think what they are interpreting as "smoke"... is actually condensed water vapor. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgLSfGyhzRc Not going to happen in the Persian Gulf, or the Marianas. Looks like, from what can tell from images, that the old "smoke" was pretty good. Like JP-5 jet exhaust. Bowie
