Why does DCS take just as long to shutdown as it does to startup?? It wouldn't be an issue if it didn't Hijack the monitor with a backscreen during the shutdown process! I don't actually care why it does it.. I just want it fixed so it does not.

Certain stpt ranges are designated for certain functions. 500-699 is for various data one of which is shared coordinate data between wingmen (which creates a L16 markpoint). Whereas, 26-30 is designated for your own created markpoints, and then 21-25 which is used for MGRS entry. And hopefully in the near future 31-55 is for creating GEO Lines. But don't get it wrong, you can still use those for regular stpt data but you should get in the habit of leaving them open in order to use their actual function. Real world, pilots typical just use a few or the first 20 stpts for route planning. The other hundreds of stpts are used for various things like landmarks, other airfields within the area of operation to include divert/emergency airfields, Geo lines and markpoints as mentioned, preplanned threats, IPs, the list goes on and on.

... a 8196 size option would be amazing. And would it be possible to either have an option, or completely remove the added dots at vertex positions? null

Imagine how weird it would be to fly a Bf-109 in knots, and feet, and inches of manifold pressure. Its just WRONG. As long as they have a Metric cockpit with English labels, I'm happy, but I don't see why in the heck they decided to go down that path to provide an Imperial option.

Миг-29А изд. 9-12 баланс в симуляторе.
NickyBoom replied to SJAY_ONE's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Seems like the C-101 is the community favorite according to the poll. I agree. It's a great plane whether one uses it as an actual trainer or as a light attack plane. But in practice, I would think a lot of people learn the basics of DCS offline, before they even consider taking it into multiplayer, and before they even have a passing aquaintance with anyone else playing the game. To that end, a second seat only matters if you have another human being to crew up with. Otherwise it's just an empty seat.

Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill
Kappa-06MHR replied to currenthill's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
I dream that one day, ALL Currenthill assets will be integrated into the core. And especially the infantry. The CH assets are clearly game-changers for any DCS player, and I'd like squadrons, most of which avoid mods, to be able to benefit from them. Being able to transport infantry with Javelins is a game-changer for the transport role, for example. -

In-Game Scratchpad Mod Available - Works Great In VR!
mdtenor22001 replied to Fubarbrickdust's topic in Virtual Reality
Draken, I'm clearly late to the game here and have just started using your branch of Scratchpad for the Apache. Thank you for continuing to maintain this! I may be doing something wrong, but I read your Readme and searched this forum and still can't figure it out. Specifically, I'm trying to follow the method of creating target points (or Control measures) instead of the default WP type. From the readme, it appears that inserting a "T" where the # is in the string ("@|T| coords") should create a point as a Target Point with the default abbreviation of TG. However, when I do that, it just creates a standard waypoint. Same for when I use a "H". I must be doing something wrong (especially since I don't find a mention of that problem in this thread). Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -
Hi, sorry for not answering earlier, just saw this reply now. It seems that Streamdeck (XL in my case) cannot transfer out L-win or in fact any Win key as moderator for a required keyboard combination like L-win + S (any added key in fact). Any PC keyboard works fine with Win macros, and also programmed Win containing macros from a Razer Tartarus Gamepad works. Been extensively in contact with Elgato support, and they did not come up with a fix with their driver-software now 7.0.3 even. Only thing fixed with their latest software 7.03 is that when you have a win-key containing macro it no longer crashes windows explorer LoL. DCS is not at fault here, but Streamdeck seems unable to bypass any windows anti-macro-ing routine, maybe. Windows Defender seems off with my paid Avast Premium. I used a free tool "keyboardtesutillity.exe" confirming that behavior from Streamdeck. If Streamdeck works with DCS it could be godsent with all the button presses needed some times .... you can edit the button displays.

I'm not sure I'm posting this in the right place but I couldn't find a topic more appropriate. There's a new overlay that appears on the launcher screen and carries over into flights as well. I have no idea where it came from or how to turn it off. I've tried the standard Alt + R, which didn't work, and the key combination showing on the screen (Ctrl + Shift + O)didn't work either. How do I get rid of this????

They already did, by making an imperial MiG-29. So ED did this to themselves.

Does the F-16C, F/A-18C. A-10C or any other Blufor jet have a metric cockpit? Why should they start now?

As gulredrel says, it's the Argentine carrier, ex HMS Venerable, part of the 1942 Light Carrier class. (Collossus I've been almost exclusively on daily Carrier practice, since the Corsair came out, so hopefully I'm half decent at it, but stalling on the final part of the turn is the most common failure. It's good practice for when the Pacific pack comes out, hopefully in my lifetime. No working Cat, but you can still get offwith a couple of bombs and full tanks. ..

Unfortunately we have nobody who wants to retexture the ships. If you know of a texturer that is interested let me know and I will add it as livery option. Thanks for the kind words. We have an alternative MiG-17 model now, but it also has severe weaknesses. It will not be included in the coming update 2.2.0. Let me check what happens when I remove the radomes, not sure the uv map will survive this. I hope I can reach out to you for a Civilian livery then? Yesterday night saw a sort of break-through for animating the rotor folding. After wondering how to get it done, we finally got the idea to check the stock SH-60B and see, there arg 8 is used. Now rotor folding is a thing. I made my first YouTube short about this:

That'd be the aircraft somebody loves the most and want to eventually master while still learning the ropes in the trainer first. Digging farther always ends up in the "what is the purpose of trainer aircraft in the sim" discussion.

opinion An F/A-18C Lot 20 Cockpit that Looks and Feels... Right (56° FoV)
Bowie replied to Bowie's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
20/20 human vision - has some interesting features. Acuity - the eye's ability to discern details, degrades ~ 50%, for every Two(2) degrees° of vision away from center. A very small cone of view, and why we move our eyes when we read, and not just soak up the page. EOR - or 'Eyes Only Rotation', is how far away from center the eye roams, before the head turns (pans) to shift the view to a new center. This is ~ 18°, before the eye socket encroaches, or the nose interferes with stereoscopic vision and depth perception. Why we turn our heads to the next page, and not read them together as two columns. So, for a std. monitor and viewing distance (28" @ 30")... that's a ~ 44.5° FoV side to side. A 36° (2x18° - left/right or up/down), EOR is about the screen, top to bottom, but only about 80% of the width. Which means that head panning for the extremities of the horizontal view will most likely occur. So, a flat 20/20 view, that appears to be with 'blinders' in a box, is actually of a somewhat panoramic nature, sans extreme peripheral vision, which would require a dome simulator. So a flat, 20/20 human vision view works on a std. monitor. It provides relative scale for all objects, near and far, from gauges two feet away, to that carrier 1.25 nm to port. As long as one is willing to pan their view, as they would naturally pan their head IRL. My system, and 28"/4K monitor, set to 56° FoV as described, Looks and Feels... Right. YMMV. Give it a try. Video: What a horrible shot solution was that, brother? The bandit is also notching pretty hard. Lots of data missing. This is far from 'unexplainably'. Tacview Track 2nd fight: Bad solutions and the two first shots gave the missile no chance making it bleed a lot of energy + there were a lot of notching from the Viper. The third one hit because it was close enough. Gotta work on those shot solutions. See on the first fight how worse the Viper defended and you got it with 1 shot. Also, keep in mind, missiles sometimes keep turning if they lost track when they are turning as on that video you posted. I've seen it 100s of times. Missile turning =\= Missile has track. Probably it lost tracking way earlier, regained, lost again, etc.

can not reproduce R-27R missing targets also as 27ER.
Drona replied to LaCiKa's topic in Weapon Bugs
Completely agree. It gives no incentive to fly the FF MiG-29 in its intended and primary role because its primary BVR weapon is so gimped. To hell with your "new seeker model". Bring the old seeker model back. Or if ED intends to keep this model, please adjust the chaff resistance. It's as @AeriaGloria says, 99% miss when chaff is introduced. -
