Hi ryke - you can set the beginning and ending time of the file you want to render. It's not a shortening of the actual track file. But I have another question. Can I save tracks in multiplayer?2 points

1. I can't for the love of God, feel the vibrations when I'm inside the cockpit. This just simply sucks! Will the next patch fix this??? 2. The sound of clicking and switching buttons is clearly..what's the word..uhmm..generic, yes. Generic! If you listen very carefuly, you can tell that not all switches have their unique clicking sound like we expected them to have. I pray the upcoming patch fixes this as it really kills the immersion factor. 3. The modelling of Ka-50 30mm gun is seriously flawed, I dare say scripted. Have you noticed while firing it, the spent cases never hit or bounce off the chopper while simultaneously making hard turns and banks? Did the guys who created this sim thought we were some amateurs and wouldn't notice this??? And please, I can provide a TRACK as a proof so this is not just a baseless claim! 4. The way the infantry soldiers hold their AK-47 or M16 is laughable. His finger is actually resting ON THE TRIGGER all the time!! Hello!?? The basic safety rules dictate unless you're in a firefight, finger off the trigger and in BS, it seems to me all those little guys missed their Basic Combat Training. I'm really worried before I get them with my 30mm they're gonna shoot themselves in the foot and bleed to death. 5. The trees and branches will not bend if I fly/hover near them. I understand the creators of this game had an official explanation as if..something along the lines..the winters in Russia are so hard the trees are frozen solid, thus not move, blah, blah...but I don't buy it. Especially at Gelendzhik, near the sea the temperatures are not that low and this shouldn't be happening. 6. There is no fish. I saw liveleak videos of Afghans dynamite-fishing one of the lakes. I wanna have that feature available in BS, otherwise those Vikhrs are just a prop and the whole theater should have been moved to Nevada desert instead. Makes me sad seeing all of that potential under my pylons wasted.. 7. There are no raindrops on the canopy. I can't fly rain mission without it. It just kills the whole experience, pokes it in the eye and knocks it unconcious. Please, don't get this as a rant. I just want to see BS improved. Thank you.1 point

Being a big fan of BS, and a skilled 3d modeler/animator (3ds max - 9 years), I was wondering if ED could use any help on the upcoming modules? I'm sure there's plenty of tallent out there in the community that would like to input on the project...1 point

Hiya Viper: 1) Yes, you can edit shooting gallery. For each multiplayer person you want to be able to join, you must add in a KA50, set to "start from parking" (or whatever you prefer) , and set to "Client" (Player is single player only..all multiplayer players must be "Client"). You shoudl also change the KA50 that is allready in there to "Client" from Player, and get rid of any AI wingmen if there are any. 2) you can also make your own very easily. As above, create as many KA50's as you like all set to "Client".. all have seperate waypoints, so you will need to set waypoints for each client individually. If you wish to have them take off from an airfeild, put them near an airfield, and set the first point to "take off from Parking" for cold start, or "takeoff from Runway" for a warm start. You can also add in a FARP and have them takeoff from there instead. In order to be able to re-fuel and re-arm from FARPS and have external power and raido, you must put certain vehicles within 150 Mtrs of the FARP..this info is in the GUI manual. Airfields automatically have all of these services. 3) Not sure if anyone is, but if it is just you and a few buddies, then you should be able to host it no rpoblems. Pick the person with the Best available bandwidth first, then the person with the fastest CPU and most memory to host (usually the same person ;) ). Make sure the person hosting has Port Forwarded or Port Triggered ports 10308 TCP and UDP. Make sure all clients mutiplayer speeds are set low (ie 128/128) if you are joining over the internet. Have the host check his Internet facing IP at http://www.whatismyip.com/ as that is the IP you will need to connect to. Of course, you can allways join an existing server like the 159th and fly together..just make sure you are all on the same VHF2 frequency so your datalinks will talk with eachother. 4) I suspect a lot of people just run servers with their mates ...as it is a game suited for Co-op and small groups, rather than big setups. To develop a map that can withstand 24 peoople connected, and play ok for 10 hour + at a time takes a LOT of hard work to make, which is probably why you see so few. If you host a server, but have it set to "LAN" , it will not advertise itself on the server browser in game, and I expect many people do this for privacy. Cheers and good luck Nem1 point

Hi, I'd like to change the default head angle so that when I center my TrackIR I'm looking directly at the center of the HUD. Is there any way to do this? (It was possible in LockOn by changing a value in a config file). I found a thread in this forum in which Alex O'Kean of ED describes how to change the HMS reticle so it's in the center of your screen and I presume the procedure he describes is similar to what I'd need to do to fix the default head angle, but I can't find the appropriate file/value to change. Can anyone give me a pointer? Many thanks, DD1 point

Im really trying not to come across as a jerk, but can I tell you why people think the original looks better ? Just my opinion but lose the plugged art, what I mean by that is dont use plugins, like for example the line of fire thing, that thing screams plugin, people dislike it. Dont take this the wrong way since I DID THE EXACT SAME thing many years ago and someone was honest enough to tell me. The 3rd and last pic are my favorite from the bunch, also the bubble buttons with the gloss are a no no. Regardless, keep it up.1 point

looks like 5000 jobs are on the axe list . jesus thats a lot of people. .......... Microsoft earlier today announced that it would eliminate up to 5,000 jobs due to "the further deterioration of global economic conditions." .......... trying not to make this political , but this former bush administration has to go down as the worst in history, what a mess to leave behind . really hope obama can do it, recover and clean the mess left behind, not just for america, but a big change to the world as a whole. unity is the way forward imo. time for change. good luck to him.1 point

Hi Tim. We fly closed squad only co-op missions every week (Thursdays and Sundays). I dunno if you have LO/Flaming Cliffs as well but at the moment we're alternating flight nights (one week LO/FC on Thursday and Black Shark on Sunday... Following week Black Shark Tursday and LO/FC on the Sunday). Nearly every flight we do involves co-op work (although some of the LO/FC flights will involve some of our lads flying OPFOR). navigate here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\Input\Aircrafts open the folder called 'ka-50', then copy the 'keyboard' folder then to back to the aircraft directory, and open up the 'default' folder then paste the keyboard folder and overwrite the existing one1 point

Poor Saitek. X52 Pro and several othzer items were designed for MSFS but closing the studios doesn't mean that all installed versions will be unvalid immediately. ;) You can still use FSX. I'm lookiung forward to buy some more A2A Simulation Add ons for FSX as they are the best for FSX in my eyes.1 point

You cant, its a long lasting bug that has never been debunked. I though the new MOD was using flare smoke model but its just a texture MOD. Using Flare smoke would cure the problem.1 point

I noticed that if zoomed out to normal view in cockpit the tail smoke dont change. is there a way to get around this, to see the new tail smoke in zoomed out view? plz help!!!1 point

The Ka-50 doesn't do automatic coordinated turns, so you should be using pedal when turning to assist the bank. Otherwise you get more sideslip and less nose rotation than you want. I also think the ED shark model right now is a little too squirly. It's so bobby and wobbly that the 20% dampening authority when in FD mode with the 3 channels on seems very weak. Possibly insufficient aerodynamic streamlining modeling? The air itself around the airframe and disks is a moderately stabilizing force enveloping the aircraft in forward flight. Even with all 3 hold channels off it seems like there's a little too much crazyness going on. It could also be that the flight model is tied to frame rates. Not sure, but X-Plane's real-time derivative blade-system certainly is. Maybe the dampening and autopilot hold channels function better at higher fps? My original assumption was that ED modeled it, as one of the posters above put it OHSOREALISTIC, as in exaggerated attitude instability and difficulty, like IL2, WWII Fighters in Wicked Mode, and Janes F-15E (at least the bobbing). But the ED devs took offense to that and quickly shot it down. Considering yaw is simply a function of the difference in rotation between the two rotors, right, I would also agree you should seemingly have more yaw authority. Plus you get a tail rudder assist. In forward flight, I've seen footage of Kamovs doing flat yaw-turns at speed and they did them faster than we can in the sim and without bumping rotors. But hey, I didn't program this beast, and considering the detail the devs put in they may or may not have achieved the intended flight dynamics results in the performance validation process. In the mean time, you can be more gentle at the controls...which is always a good idea. And we can continue the civil discussion ;-) By the way, what kind of lcd goggles do you use? Ever tried integrating the eMagin Z800 into what you use? Do you actually do professional camera footage with it or is that separate and the UAV stuff is just recreational?1 point

I know it's not much, but google has street level mapped all the surrounding built up area on it's mapping system. Google Nellis You can walk all along the roads and although low-res, can see quite a bit. I also have friends who work there, if you need a rough height of hangars? Hey guys, I'm going to need the community's help on this one. Although many great pictures has already been posted above, there's only so much pictures you can find on the internet. I'm afraid we need some more from ground-level in order to texture the structures properly. Is anyone located on sight in Nellis or somewhere in the Nevada area that could get some high resolution photos of each building adjacent to the tarmac? We would really appreciate it!1 point

To beczl Your weapons looks better that our original ones undoubtedly. But I want point two remarks. 1. The count of triangles (15700) for UB-13 a bit high (I didn't see other models). I think it can be reduced without quality loss. 2. The models haven't LODs. Good luck with creation!1 point

I made my own affinity tool for myself a few days ago in AutoIt when I found I couldn't get TaskAssign to work. At first it was a simple script that would run in the background and set the dcs.exe affinity when it found one, but I kept adding onto it. I wanted to merge the two Black Shark desktop icons into one and never have to set the affinity again. After I decided I was going to release it on the forums I cleaned up the interface, optimized some shaky code and added some error checking. Here is the result: EDIT: Use this new google code project page for instructions and download link. Version 2 removes the need for any user configuration. Just run and it works.1 point

Well, in DCS/BS this problem is solved. You can choose : weapon / container / laucher tube in lua for your new weapon. Of course container and tube objects contain the real rocket/warhead/mine which will disappear after the launch and containers/pods can be jettisoned separately with its content1 point
