Hard to fix, what once destroyed ( exploit video ) Instead of "..look, how smart i am.." and putting it on youtube, it would have been better to send it to the devs only. Dont take it personal Yoda.3 points

.......159th Guards Aviation Regiment....... After another lengthly absence, the 159th GAR is again proud to announce the return of the DCS: Black Shark Dedicated server accessible from the DCS: Black Shark Multiplayer User-Interface. The Primary reason for the noticed absence was occasioned to provide to the Multiplayer Community a server willing and able to Deliver the Goods, so to speak, and as a consequence the server has been upgraded to the following Configuration: In addition, we have moved Server provider Companies to the below-Listed provider. Intel Q6600 Quad Core 2.4 Ghz 2 Gigs Ram Windows Server 2003 With the addition of Acedy's Server Management Mod, the server is well established to provide to the DCS Multiplayer Community that which they strive for - An Environment where we can strive to increase our Flight Skills through a medium of Missions designed to Foster and Nurture Training in and Dedication to the Simulation, but most of all a place where we can have Fun! Currently utilizing the Biggameserver Hosting Company, the server provides correspondingly low Pings internationally with the attendant increase in playability. With extremely competitive rates and attendant packages they indeed come highly recommended - well worth investigation if in the market for a dedicated server! All Said and Done, the Primary Purpose of the Server and availabilty thereof is ultimately driven by YOU, the DCS Community Member......All we ask is that the server is Utlilized and Used, Not Abused. For a list of Rules regulating the conduct on the server, navigate over to the Forums and have a wee Browse. At the end of the Day, It's all about the SIM and the enjoyment thereof. 159th Dedicated & TeamSpeak Server: Dedicated DCS all day every day And though I fly through the Valley of Death, I shall Fear no Evil for I am at 10M AGL and Descending........2 points

I think issue is more that there is no uniformity... LRM mod has so many things changed from LockOn people are not used to it, are unknown of some of its featires, and also some features are not popular. I for one have tried the Target Step Mod for the F-15 and tested it with few other guys from 3Sqn and I am certain it is very wrong step in the oposite direction... with it I was able to snap TDS over target as I was in tight turn even before it showed on my radar. With simple HOTAS macro I could set to Snap-Lock then fire missile pretty much instantly and turn tail leting AIM-120 guide itself. That is so unrealistic if you ask me. We from 3Sqn have decided not to use or allow this part on our server (if and when we adopt it on our server) Let me also ad that I and other very much understand the background of Yoda's will to change how people fly in LockOn and eradicate some really crappy flying "style" but some things that are added do not add realism, and in fact work very much in favour of arcade-like easy radar usage. Another thing I am not so much fond of is turbulence... i find it just anoying when I am flying at 500m nice and level and my plane starts yawing, dipping or pulling nose up. Turbulence should shake the aircraft, not change it's flynig like that. If it would work like that in real life people wouldn't be able to fly like those crazy french youtube video's :D or flying tight formations. Also there has been mention that very close to the groung you get cushon effect where you need to apply pressure downwards to leand the aircraft... with speed this cushion effect should be stronger so effectively your nose should never pull downwards close to ground, but up.2 points

Status April 2012: A brand new video with a joint operations with me and another crazy pit builder from my Squad. Hope you like it. Status December 2011: Video with BS2 and new features added in my pit. All the best to you guys for 2012! Status November 2011: Upgrade to BS2 and now the NVG bug in multiscreen is corrected (and NVG itself much improved), it was time for my pit to get also slightly upgraded for night flights! Detail on the right panel where I used an array of 12V blue leds strip: Status September 2011: Switched from BSVP to Helios from SC Simulations. This allowed me not only to get rid of my secondary networked PC, but also to display all gauges on the front panel as well as a working EKRAN. Eventhough only one PC have to run 6 screens at the same time, I am still getting 30+ fps with SIOC still running in the background to manage the leds (thanks to Gadroc for his help on this). New demo video: And one picture: Status March 2011: All leds now working in game. Cougar replaced by Warthog stick. Aluminum plates added for the floor. Better integration of the collective. Complete re install of DCS BS increased fps from 15 to 30. Don't know why, but that's really cool. New video added. (The copyright free version) Pit status on the 9th of August 2010. Hi BS fans and pit builders. I have been working for some time now on this project since BS has been available. This is my first pit and I though BS was the perfect sim to work on. First it is extremely realistic, secondly the Ka-50 cockpit is still very analogic oriented and as such, a little bit easier to build than a latest generation cockpit with fully integrated avionics and such. Finally, having the possibility to assign almost every single switch to a joystick button and being able to display ABRIS and SKVAL on separate screens proved that ED was clearly pit builder minded when they developped this fantastic sim. I had though to bet on the future of this sim, as, although inputs are easy to implement, there is nothing about outputs yet (leds, parameters and so on). I do hope that the dev will keep their word by allowing some easy data export in a future patch or dev package release. I want my pit to be as realistic as possible, but I wont go as far as Triggerhappy for example and CMC machining parts and buttons. This will be far too expensive and I have no talent for this. So I had sometimes to make some tradeoffs as I couldn't get everything I want for the parts in electronic shops. Talking about Triggerhappy, many many thanks and all credits to him for the blueprints and drawing he posted on this forum. It was extrmely precious for me to start this project. First of all, I started to build the left console: Every buttons and lever are functional but some switches for the ADF as I used Leo Bodnar's USB board for the wiring and it is limited to 32 inputs. This limitation keeps bugging me by the way and I still have to sacrifice some switches that I don't use for the sake of this limitation. I used some MON-OFF-MON switches for the radio frequencies (could'nt find anything looking like the real thing). As for the display of these frequencies, I have some other plan to display them.:D1 point

This thread is dedicated to simmers just recent to the DCS sim (mostly folks who waited for the DVD version such as myself). I know there have been many threads dedicated to the autopilot already, but there are some things I learned from flying that I feel would be useful to new pilots and hopefully help them realize why they cannot fly with precision. First, let's start with a scenario: You are flying along, trimmed well for level flight at about 130 km/h, and spot something to the left. You need to make a turn to that heading quickly. You pitch up, trim again and adjust collective to bleed off speed, no problem there. When speed is around 60 km/h or so you level off, trim again, then begin a nice, stable, turn toward the heading. You trim these settings. Looks good. As you approach the desired heading, you apply right rudder and bank to stabilize the bird on the new heading, then hit trim again. You lock your target at about 2.8 km, call up rockets and prepare to engage. However, you notice that your side slipping. Slightly, but enough to prevent you from engaging. You try to fight the pipper down to the target, then re-trim when it's in the neighborhood, but when the AP goes to hold the settings, the bird lurches slightly off aimpoint. You fight to put it there again, no joy. Distance is now 2.3 km. You know you're supposed to have engaged already, but the helo is becoming less and less responsive to your inputs. You are side slipping everywhere, and no matter how precisely you lay the pipper on target, when you trim then center the controls, the AP errors the manual told you about prevent you from keeping the target in your sights. Distance is now 1.9 km, and corrections now cause you to be extremely off target. You decide to hold the trimmer button down, as you realize that fighting the autopilot is forcing you into oversteer situations, and even if you manage those, the accumulated errors will never allow you to hold pipper on target. When you hold the trimmer down, the bird banks at an odd angle, begins yawing and side slipping, as well as pitches in a manner you weren't expecting. What happened? I thought I was supposed to trim after every input? Well, here is your problem: Trim, trim, and trim again is only good advice if you actually know which control inputs match with the attitude you are at, when they are stabilized there, and when it is done every 30 sec. or so to allow AP errors not accumulate. Even then, if you are skilled enough to know the flight envelope to this degree, you probably don't need to read this thread. The reason this is the case is that the trimmer button, when AP channels are active, does 2 things: 1.) It zeroes your control input (you probably know this) causing whatever control inputs you had to become constant and 2.) It commands the autopilot to hold the bank, heading, and pitch you were at when you release the trimmer. Why is this a problem? Because if 1 and 2 don't match the bird will not do what you want it to. Case in point using the example above, if you trimmed in the initial yaw, the yaw required to fight the autopilot onto the new heading (where you began arresting your yaw on the target heading) is in EXCESS of what you would ordinarily need by a factor of 20%. Therefore, when you trim in this new input, the helo tries to hold your excess right rudder while simultaneously holding the heading you were at. The only way it can do this is by sideslipping. Adjunct: the same applies to bank. So when you try to arrest the bank, you are using more than actually needed for the flight profile you're trying to acheive. The amount of erroneous inputs you are banging into the FCS increases exponentially. Holding the trimmer is a solution to this. There are many who don't do this, but I don't know how from what I've witnessed. There is a sticky in this forum that tells you not to do this, and the manual repeats it, as well as the book that comes with the DVD version, so it is likely drilled into your head that holding the trimmer down is a bad idea, and since you are a simmer, you want to do it "right." Know that "right" is whatever it takes to fly with precision, so ignore these 2 items and experiment. However, when the trimmer button is released, you will still notice a "jump" as the AP attempts to hold the new settings. This is because, like I said, 1 must match 2, and it probably doesn't for you. How do you fix that? Well, I'm still trying. I would imagine flying in FD mode will help you understand the helicopter's true flight envelope, which will help you to understand when your control input truly matches your flight profile. Once this is understood, you can begin turn off FD and fly the Shark the "right" way. That is the course I'm taking. I apologize for the length of this thread, but this facet of the sim was and still is the most frustrating for me (but also enjoyable, much respect to the guys who actually fly these things), and I feel any input regarding how to truly understand how to fly a helo would be more useful to noobs than just "trim, trim, trim" Anybody who has flown Longbow 2 etc. is used to having flight maneuvers explained in exacting detail, and may feel a little lost in the 'shark as a result of this not being there. Info such as, what speed should rudder be used up until to execute tight turns? What is the proper way to execute a high speed turn? What are the steps needed to stabilize a heli in level flight at a nose down attitude sufficient to attack with rockets or gunpods? I hope this has helped you realize you are not alone if you are having these problems. Yes, the autopilot will be patched, but if I understand the patch correctly, the above problem will still exist, as it is not engaging turns that is difficult, it is arresting them with stability with 0 bank/sideslip AND 0 yaw.1 point

It's good to be back!!! I enjoyed seeing many of you flying about on Friday. We've been having some stability issues with the Server 2003 Web Edition OS. Today we are planning on upgrading to Server 2008. It will be interesting to see if it provdes smoother framerates for the client with the enhanced support for multicore machines.1 point

It only moves cursor. you can only lock what lockon allows to lock. But remember since lrm 1.0 TWS elevation follows bugged target(s). this activates as soon as you bug something, This means if the bug/lock succeeds, then elevation will move. Meaning you can lock/bug what lockon itself (i havent added this) memorized outside scan limits. For example, scan bandit, then move scan zone away from him (example: under him) , bug him, scan automatically adjusts (unless lockon's own memory has faded)1 point

Most likely lockon has a graphical delay to the radar display, this could explain why the ru radars detect targets faster, even when they have the same sweep speed and eagle set its 3A setting and they scan the same direction. I may have experienced this graphical delay, where the snap is posible lets say 0.1-0.2 s before the graphics, but I cannot recall any specific events of such. It might be possible to introduce a delay to adding new contacts to the radar memory, so that this effect doesnt become visible. Another possibility is that you simply found him, but you turned away fast enough not to see the graphics(radar or nose), then got him back the next antenna sweep, but the memory of the first sweep remained, so you could step before the graphics of the second sweep appeared. As said before, there are a lot of possibilities. The real radar for example will provide you graphical indications of targets that are in memory but cnnot be detected by radar (they will disappear eventually), but we cannot edit the lockon code, only provide simulated user input (such as cursor up/down), so we cannot graphically show this radar memory. This is the entire purpose of the function in the real jet. The purpose is so that the pilot doesnt have to spend seconds moving a stupid cursor around :) Real life example: Radar gets no *ping* from contact, but a very distorted image ==> computer processing Computer tells pilot #From all this junk data i see something here that is a possible target# pilot tells computer : Move cursor to this possible target with a button. computer moves cursor (and can also lock automatically) computer moves radar elevation/az/barscan/freq/etcLimits/lalalala automatically.1 point

Second part I start to build was the PVI-800: As you can see, I used a USB LCD display from Matrix Orbital that was taking some dust on my shelves. I kept the build in keypad as I intend to use this display not only for the PVI 800, but also to display other things like radio frequencies, oil temp and pressure or other things, depending on what ED will allow us to do. Once again, I used another Leo Bodnar USB board for the buttons. Everything is functional but the brightness button as it is no use for the LCD display.1 point

Weapons loads depend upon several factors, but the early preference for four AIM-120s and four AIM-9s had been superseded by the time. The more common loadout was now two AIM-9Ms, four AIM-120s and two AIM-7Ms. And this has changed now to two AIM-9s and six AIM-120s, I guess the only "unreal" loadout in FC is eight AIM-120s anyway. cheers1 point

Trouble is it's hard to precisely determine a timeframe of FC1.12 because some of the MiG-29 planes featured in the game represent an early production models and some of them are modernized export versions. let's take this as an example, if you look at the default skins of a MiG-29A you'll notice there's 968th IAP Altenburg skin (3rd in the drop down list) and a #999 demonstrator. Well these two differ a lot in both internal systems and fuselage. 968th IAP were first production Fulcrums that had no chaff flare dispensers, had no mud guard on the nose wheel, rudder control surface was smaller and had ventral fins which were removed later on all later production 9-12, have a pic: (Too bad there's no skin/3D model trigger here, like with Su-27 test pilots), however #999 demonstrator (for Malaysia) is in fact 9-12S as it also has ECM. Now here's a pic of YuAF #101 during 1988 airshow in Zagreb, first public appearance of new fighters, pilot was Hajrudin Hodzic: IIRC this specific airframe was overhauled in 2007 and today still serves with Serbian AF! Not all 9-13 are 9-13S but I know the ones with Damgarten skin were (IRL). So I guess MiG types of LOFC are pretty much in general missing some RL accuracy!1 point

finally a copy of DCS BS, a nice boxed version it is too the local EB store had only 1 copy, and it's all mine. got home, unable to contain my joy, i presented it to my wife with a big cheesy grin on my dial, holding it up and opening the front flap, spinning around to the back and then again to the front :) like a "sale of the century" model showing off a prize. She then turns to her girlfriend and says: "please just act excited, he's been wanting this for a long time." You just gotta love a women that understands her man. Now to see if she notices me missing for a few days.:thumbup:1 point

Got it from ebay, cdn seller! Hey guys... I was able to find it on ebay from a store located in Quebec city for around $50 "buy it now" (can't remember the exact cost!). If any of you are interested, let me know, I'll pass the link to you. Pretty fast service too... 3 days after I ordered, it was in my mail box!!! Cheers, Chris1 point

I see you've misunderstood, or haven't thought it trough. The people who run these businesses are retired USAF personnel usually. The USAF itself, and the NAVY, have the job of flying THEIR OWN AIRCRAFT into combat. There is an advantage into having someone else providing just about the most realistic OPFOR you can get. The pilots doing their exercises can then attempt intercepts on the actual aircraft they expect to be fighting, see what it looks like, what it flies like, etc. Taking a pilot who flies an F-15/16/18 and sticking him in a flanker is a waste of that pilot, whom you've trained to fly your aircraft. If you can instead pay someone else to fly a flanker for you, it works out. Learjets are used as intercept targets for US squadrons. Perhaps you've misunderstood what was said. And here's some info: http://www.atacusa.com/1 point

As a former 17 Crew Chief I have to say how AMAZING this model is. I sat and stared at these pics for 5 minutes and I just can't get over how great it looks. The only thing missing is the REAR LAIRCM turret. But who cares... simply awesome looking. Also... Mississippi? Why does the Guard get the glory? No love for Active Duty? :)1 point

I went out today to my local shoping centre and in 2 major games stores I did not see it on the shelf. I asked at one (think it was Games Wizard) and they say they don't have it and never hurd of it... went back to Electronics Boutique and asked at counter... this time they did have 2 copies but in store room (I'm thinking how can people know you have it if it's not even out there). So to make it short, I didn't get the oportunity to put it on the top of the shelf (at EW at least HAWX was on the bottom shelf) but I did buy it... I think that does it for me with buyig DCS BS... first DL Russian, then DL English now DVD :P Next stop... DCS A-10A ;)1 point
