  1. I agree. In general the detents ruin the precision of the wheels near the detent - especially in more realistic sims. Most real aircraft have a visual indicator of the takeoff position of the trim, and they do NOT have detents. After visually aligning the trim with a marker point subsequent adjustments are all made based on need for proper performance/feel. The reason I never both using my X-45 rotaries for trim in most sims is the detents make realistic trimming impossible near the center point of the knob's rotation. Of course some people are using the rotary as a banded axis where true precise control is not a factor, but for any realistic sim, using a rotary like that of the X-45 pretty much ensures a range of trim positions, and therefore flying speed where the aircraft can not be precisely trimmed. . .so for example, if you're flying IFR procedures that's going to suck etc. Not having a detent does mean that simmers would have to visually check trim wheel position before takeoff. . .which would be a realistic thing to have to do. On the G940 I only had one wheel which required any effort to see, and that the one in front of the throttles. As far as I'm concerned the rotaries on the G940 were something they got right. Of course people will have different views on this so the ideal solution is to have it adjustable so that the detent can be used or disabled without major mods needing to be done. . .there's no reason we should have to go with only one vs the other.

  2. Whatever, now tell me about these anti-stealth tactics and development weapons, when ever anyone else mentions anti-stealth tactics or weapons you scoff at them, according to you X band, VHF, UHF and optics are of no use against VLO 5th gen fighter's. Pleases elaborate on these tactics and weapons GG, this I've got to hear!. :) OK, I respect your opinion, I like the JSF but to me it's the ultimate "jack of all trades and master of none". Drop the elitism GG, if the PAK-FA has roughly the same RCS as the Raptor then the Raptor's AN/APG77 AESA will be ineffective, stealth works both ways remember! what does that leave the Raptor with? the Raptor doesn't even have an IRST module! if stealth is as effective as Lockheed state then the PAK-FA can force a WVR fight -period-. 1 billion dollar fighter's playing quick draw Mc Graw is extremely risky... If Stealth isn't as effective as lockheed state then oh dear... either way it's one of the two, The point is the PAK-FA doesn't need highly advanced avionics like the F-22, it just needs roughly the same speed, RCS at a much lower cost and easier production to force a WVR fight, the US have set the hallmark an adversary only needs to copy it to level the playing field copying the airframe not only gives you a formidable RCS it'll also give the PAK-FA the aerodynamic capability to super cruise. Very, very cheap R&D costs. Either way when the PAK-FA comes into service I'm 100% certain the USAF are going to be selective in which door they go kicking in ;)

  4. It's been fun all these years hanging around and salivating over screenies. This community is the best, and dare I say, ED sims attract the most diverse and knowledgeable bunch of sim junkies. Admit it, the lot of you eat military encyclopedias and aircraft grade rivets, then wash those down with jet fuel. :D Anywiggle...I landed a hotel job in an Island way south of Thailand and I'm leaving in a week or so. I'll find out exactly when comes Monday. I'm happy I got this job because it's a five star hotel which means an opportunity to make serious money. The majority of the guess on this Island are Europeans and I hope u guys tips well. :D The bummer is, I gotta leave my four-year-old daughter with her grandmother in Bangkok. I have raised her on my own since she was six-month-old, so this really gonna suck. As for my scripts, my stupid comp died so I have to get a new one and revise them before I send them out. peace

  5. If I'm remembering it correctly, there was recommendation to turn off spring, use no curvature and 100% FF. But looks like you're already did it. It would be nice to say - what force needed to move it from trimmed position? Take note, that force must be similar to force needed to move stick from central position (untrimmed). Another thought - maybe your hand a little too heavy? ;)

  7. So I was flying in the campaign mode the other day. after a lengthy mission, I ordered my wingmen in a 4-ship flight to return to base. I fell back, watching as they went low above a town next to the airfield, as if they were celebrating the end of a successful mission. Suddenly, an explosion. My wingman 54 was down in a split second and his wreckage smacked into the ground right next to a building. I popped flares, assuming my wingmen came under SAM fire - I was surely next. A few seconds passed, then a minute. No further fire. Then suddenly, another small explosion where my two remaining wingmen were. And then a massive fireball. They were surely dead! 55 and 54 In close formation: 54 is going down: eject! whats this? and now 53 and 55 make contact! you can see 54's crashsite in the plume of smoke in the background. I am the small speck of black just below the lowest clouds. looks like 55 is definitely dead. look at the mess on the cockpit windows! err...boom! I guess this is a good study on the damage model of DCS:BS, but what the hell was the AI thinking?! Aircraft #55 caused both mid-air collisions by chopping the tails off its two different formation leaders. I guess justice was served as the pilot of 55 was the only one to get killed!

  12. sobek, I believe he is saying that he finds it helpful to know whether he is on the upper or lower half of the pot's travel... and to know when it is transitioning from one to the other. I believe he is also saying that the detent doesn't cause him problems with setting the trim slightly off of the detent's position. FWIW, I have to say my experiences have been the same. I think detents at the halfway point in the rotation are useful, for pots that have a lot of "travel". I think for a pot with a limited arc of travel, such as 90 degrees, I would prefer to not have a center detent.

  18. the triplehead and more so the softTH setup is very demanding and can bring the average system to its knees. as we know, the cpu is often the limiting factor in ED sims but at high res and qual settings trying to drive 3 screens from one (by todays standards) mediocre card is quite probably your bottle neck. that cpu can be stable 3.6 on air and something like a 2xx gtx cards would have more chance of supplying those multi monitors. remember with the o/c, take little steps and keep the smoke in the chip :) previous suggestions sound good so far, such as reducing res and graphics quality, both in nvidia options, and also in game options. especially JG14_Smil comments on lua edits. try starting off at the absolute lowest graphics quality in game, with low or no aa and af setting in nvidia options. performance for my setup drops dramatically with high graphics settings. as for the digital th2go, i am sure one day they will support 3x 1920, if not already i'm not sure, my old analogue version is max 3840 so i cannot advise. i heard you can also run lower res on the side screens using softTH that might help you a bit. please share some pics of your new flat panels, they sound great. Hannibal, you have gone vertical, i would also like to see this, i tried it and thought it would be ideal, please share screens.

  21. Yes there playing a clever game, a game that's clever and very efficient, I'm 99% sure the PAK-FA will be very similar in shape to the Raptor albeit I could easily be wrong, time will tell, if it is of similar shape I expect RCS performance of the PAK-FA to be very similar to that of a Raptor. Will this force the Raptor out of BVR and into the WVR arena?, sheesh I really hope not cause that's one time consuming and expensive bird to build. Now you're talking about anti-stealth tactics!, I've watched you state many many times that X band, VHF, UHF and optics are ineffective against stealth technology so what anti stealth weapons are you talking about? GG the F-35 is a great aircraft with great sensors but to me it's the kingpin of the "jack of all trades master of none" aircraft, I'd be very surprised if the PAK-FA was designed to counter the JSF. I think the PAK-FA will be a very economical and tactical solution in numbers for any Airforce that wants to defend itself against the F-22, c'mon do you really think Russia will let the US fly around with aircraft that give the US impunity in air?. Gain air superiority and you stand a good chance of winning the war, Russia isn't going to let that happen, if the PAK-FA can force the F-22 into a WVR fight that will spell trouble for the F-22... period. The battelfield has proved this many many times. Numbers diminish technology.

  22. Cool that sounds really fun, it remind me a street near the downtown in my city, the street is straight and suddenly it goes down, and when I'm on the bus you can feel your stomach going up jajajajaja, if I'm not wrong that are the negative g's, what a strange vehicle to experiment g forces.

As one of you said......."for a Russian movie its a step ahead".........cinomatographicly speaking................
