~S~ Greetings and salutations, This post is to announce the release of a new Flash cockpit trainer for DCS:Blackshark. If you ever flew Falcon 4, then you are probably familiar with the cockpit trainer for that sim. This is very similar, but much more detailed. When you mouse over buttons, switches, and guages, a pop-up window will give a brief description of that item. Some items are clickable giving you an even more detailed description. This Cockpit Trainer was developed by a fellow War Hawks member, WH_Snacko, for our squadron Training Module. But once we saw the level of detail Snacko had put into this, we knew we could not keep it for ourselves. War Hawks Training Module Full War Hawk members have access to all training courses, but some are open to the public. The cockpit trainer can be accessed by clicking on the above link. You can then scroll down to find the KA-50 Cockpit Trainer in the Blackshark specific area of our training module. You will be prompted to log in or view as a guest. Guest access will allow you to view this trainer as well as a few other courses. If you have any questions or would like to join us for full member access to other courses, feel free to contact us from the War Hawks Website. Thanks to WH_Snacko we now have a stand-alone version available as well. Currently hosted on a mediafire account here: Stand-alone DCS:Blackshark Cockpit Trainer Respectfully submitted,2 points

Yes! I have seen it happen. Flares will continually get dumped after you are supposed to have run out using shift+q. I would have to see if I can find the details, but we had a player once with this issue. He explained to me that he had reinstalled LO trying to get rid of the issue and then we determined that shift+q was to blame. Not sure of the exact steps to repeat the bug but I'll see if I can duplicate it. I think all the comments here by the 51st members and GG are really good especially in regard to LRM. So many people with accusations of cheating when they simply don't understand exactly what LRM does. Especially the fact that it disallows any scripts from being run except those specified in LRM itself. The fact is, many people think someone is cheating when really they just don't understand what is going on, so cheating comes up. After helping to run the 169th server for a couple of years, the repeated false accusations of cheating was actually doing more harm then the amount of people actually cheating!2 points

Hi All, I have just made my first proper attempt at a dogfight video using Sony Vegas and Lock On. Its a story of three Eagles versus four Fulcrums all armed only with guns, and has a slight Parody/comedy leaning to it. Check it out and let me know what you think.... Click here to watch my latest Blockbuster Extravaganza - Guns Guns. Cheers, funk.1 point

Note the whiskers - an interesting low-tech approach to stealth. "Target, twelve o'clock, high!" "Nah, that's just a tiger hovering, don't you see his whiskers?" "Ooh, right, may bad."1 point

Indeed, as we're told, that is the plan. But until such features arrive it's very much hurry up and wait. Parhaps you underestimate the value of a dynamic campaign? After 10 years of flying Falcon nearly every day, it's still fresh and exciting. Sadly DCS:BS is already somewhat stale for me. I'm well aware they do, I know a few of them. Real military pilots also play the sims and battlefield 2, it's a meaningless comment imho. Never meant to imply there is anything wrong with LOMAC, merely trying to give the view of much of the Falcon community. If DCS can convert a large proportion of the F4 community, it'll be very good for the series indeed, just like converting large numbers of the LOMAC community. These day I only fly with a small group of friends made in old VFWs, but out of that group of avid simmers I am one of only two who purchased DCS:BS and the only who actually flys it at all, due to the reasons I posted previously and also due to the aircraft type simulated. I think many of the same factors will apply to the LOMAC community, I suspect a lot of it's members aren't/won't be interested in a study sim. So in order to prosper DCS will have to pull across a decent proportion of both the LOMAC and F4 community. Which imho is going to be very difficult indeed.1 point

How about everybody calms down in this thread. Use PMs or squadron's forums to debate accusations! You guys exactly know we won't accept it here...1 point

I don't know what the benefits would be either... Most expert pilots can spool up faster than quick start. Also, by disabling quick start you keep those that are learning from participating.1 point

I know you don't like it but :3DS Max 2010. It took me long hours to just basically handle the main functions, and I'm still learning something new daily. As a beginner I tended to follow blindly every tutorial I have found and kept sticking to it religiously, that's the mistake I made at the beginning. Now I'm progressing on my own and trying to solve the issues I might face alone. It's a steep learning curve, but my current target is to learn modelling, not to model.I'm not reading aircraft dedicated tutorials anymore though it can be helpfull sometimes. I'm more on watching videos on different modelling solutions that can be applied to aircrafts. I have to say that this thread inspired me a lot.1 point

Apparently you haven't played any exhilerating coop missions lately :D Isn't this what you as a beta tester are supposed to put forward?1 point

So the conclusion is, when you stop sucking the number of cheating incidents will notably decrease?1 point

Cant argue with that, if your point of view is that the server hosts are leaving loopholes in their LRM so that they can cheat for them selfs, then there is not much one can do. I have yet to see any proof of that, or that of any other cheats for that matter. There are a lot of claims of cheating but very little stuff to back it up. Show us some tracks/tacviews of it before screaming foul play... Ive had my fair share of flying on HL through the years and I have not seen many cheats, extremely few actually. I can understand that it's very easy to get those thoughts in the heat of battle when you loose SA and someone gets you from nowhere. But after reviewing ACMIs, 99.99% of the time, you'll find that it was simply some great flying or pure luck from the other guy. There was this one time where a guy popped 60+ flares in a MiG-29A on our server and that is clearly not doable without some kind of alterations to the game, but that is pretty much the only cheat (except LOPE) I can recall seeing.1 point

Dunno why LRM keep comming up in this thread everytime someone mentions exploits or the lack of evidence there of, LRM in its release form has anti-cheat features. However super situational awareness scripts have been arround long before it. Further, anyone with experience with LUA can host a game with a modified, cut down, or partialy blocked version of LRM. Its adjustable. The argument whatever you can exploit or not under LRM to me is moot. So whatever announced LRM version a given server has, to me is completely irrelevant, and insufficient as warranty. Whats relevant to me is the seriousness of the people implementing it, and then each of the player in that enviroment. Thats what counts for a good session. everything else is backtalk and demagogy.1 point

у меня нет притензий к рафу, да и к коту по сути тоже, я его спросил как, он сам сказал выкладвай трек, я и выложил так как народ на 50км видит самолеты и на 25км технику? а то получается что не все игроки в равных условиях находятся1 point

Happy to wow you :) Increase the collective just a little bit and a gentle pull on the cyclic will pitch the nose up without getting airborne. Holding the wheelbrakes is required for not driving backwards too fast. I do not use hover mode. Important is to know at what attitude, or pitch angle in the hud, the Ka-50 will hover. I look at the ground while keeping the hud in view to correct any drifting. I never use trim during aerobatic demo's. I know that real Ka-50 pilots, or pilots flying helicopters with a similar trimming system, do use trim during aerial demonstrations but I prefer to have full predictive responses from my inputs at any and every moment. Although 5 years of flying certainly increased the steadiness of my hands, I wouldn't call it "surgeon quality ultra steady". :D More important is knowledge, or just understanding, of how aerodynamics on a helicopter work. How control inputs of a helicopter work and how they can work together. If you combine that with some flying experience you will be able to recognize deviations and drifts in your planned flightpath at an early state and correct immediately (anticipate). Keep it fun and don't stress yourself, the overall experience doesn't come overnight! My equipment; Saitek X52Pro, Saitek Pro Pedals, TrackIR 4 Pro.......and an always slower than preferred computer.......:D Although good equipment is welcome, it will not make you a better pilot! I use the throttle as collective with an inverted curve. This way it will work more like a real collective "pull to go up and drop to go down". :smilewink: I found the clicking (detents) quite useful as it gives me extra indications on the throttle. The cougar detents are heavier then the X52Pro's though. Thanks!!! If you have any other questions, I'm always happy to answer them. Happy flying :)1 point

A good starting point would be to reread the topic on LRM, so you can clarify for yourself what it does and does not do. To give you the 2 sentence explanation: LRM tries to make LockOn more realistic by working around some of the exploits in the game. However, it can only do this with the commands a pilot himself can give. What this means is that, for example, to stop you from taking off from taxiways, LRM will engage the wheelbrakes and throttle down the engines so you never go faster than 70 km/h when on the taxiways. It does this by sending pressing 'w' or 'PgDn' for you, just like you would do yourself if you wanted to slow down. In the same way, LRM could never influence missile behaviour like G-limits or rocket thrust, simply because you, as a pilot, cannot do so. To claim that games on servers are modded to control missile behaviour is ridiculous. This whole thread and the thread on the German forums is primarily due to a misunderstanding of LRM.1 point

What are you going on about Ice? Have you ever been on multiplayer? I can tell you that when ever I have been flying Blackshark on the 104th_DCS server it has virtually been full. You may not see that living in Australia because of the time zone difference between us but trust me, we who fly DCS Multiplayer online maybe small in number but we are steadily growing. The guys at ED have done an excellent job of getting the Sim off the ground and who cares what it looks like as long as the long as the virtual pilot feels as if he is flying the real thing. Hey if you want a "sim" with good a good graphics engine but none of the reality then go fly HAWX. Routemaster Out.1 point

Yes - had to do it myself with Vista. Same as with Win7 No. Starforce utilized in LockOn FC is completely different to the Starforce in DCS: Black Shark which requires Internet Activation - No drivers are installed on your O/S. With LockOn drivers are installed.1 point

I gathered the information from several posts on this forum, and put together a small tutorial for installing LOFC on Win7. You can find the tutorial here Hope it helps :)1 point

Hi Tomcatz, Explain how this is done online please, you seem to know something most believe impossible. And its not through LRM. Missiles get madogged more often than not its built into the game and just an exploit of reality. This has been done to death. You can't police it as everyone does it in one form or another be it ET or ARH. If you can't see a bandit visually at 10 kliks then you need to turn down your antialiasing or buy some glasses. As for quitting it happens and it sucks but at the end of the day you'd still be dead if he didn't quit. Sorry but this is notching your radar update is delayed. Ive also heard the one about disappearing aircraft, in reality the bandit just turned away. Most probably lag you didn't literally see him press the printscreen key did you, lag happens more often when missiles are in the air. I've killed bandits over 100km with ER, it has long legs. The flanker radar sees bandits 120km away. Ive also seen people claim its cheating when they get killed over 70km which is naive BS. These little cheat claims do the multiplayer community no good, they just create more hysteria by uninformed people. There are ways of cheating this game if you fancy carriers flying around your world but there are plenty of explanations for things which wrongly get called cheating.1 point

This might sound like a completely retarded question, but I have been searching for floor mats for the pit for about six months now. I have found out that it is called 'Automotive floor mat' and they refer to the type of mat that is seen in the KA-50 as 'fine ribbing'. I found one place that sells it in rolls, and all I need is about 3 square feet. I think this is what I want, but anyone know where in California I might be able to purchase this? I've checked with automative stores locally here but none of them have it, but wondering if anyone else has run into this problem? I know, its probably not real high priority with most sim pit builders, but I like to try and build my pits with a certain level of detail, hence the need to get the fine ribbing like the simulation has. Yeah, might be stupid, but I think it allows me to get a more immersive experience visually. Any links to on-line retailers would be most appreciated! :helpsmilie:1 point
