I'll be honest with you, I didn't really like it. It wasn't really a "how-to" video as it was a "I'll go through the paces and you watch" video. It needed more explanation and it needed a visible pointer. It left me with a number of questions, such as Where are all of these switches he's talking about? What indicated that it is okay to start the second engine? Can I start both at the same time? What indicated that I could turn off the APU? Can I turn it off right after the engine has begun spinning up, or do they have to be spinning at full for some time? What is all of that business on the right MFD? What the hell is that doing? Where are all of these switches that he's talking about? Are these steps being done in an important, specific order, or can I just start the engines and start turning shit on? What did the HUD say after you were done with the BIT test? There was like a paragraph of information there. What does a BIT test, you know, test? How do I tell if the INU is aligned? Does it just magically align like in DCS:BS, or is it modeled? The pointer is absolutely necessary. Sometimes it was obvious which button you were pressing, but far too often I was scanning the screen for moving switches, and I would be focusing on one side of the screen when the switch you were talking about was on the other side and I would miss it. Sometimes the tooltip would pop up, which was useful, but wasn't always completely sure that was the relevant switch (your mouse landed on a different switch). Example: when you did the light test, I swear you were looking at the left side of the cockpit when it started, and when it turned off you were looking at the right side. Was there a delay in starting the test and during the delay you looked to the left, or did it turn off automatically, and the switch was on the left? I'm done hatin' now.2 points

:Flush:1 point

DCS A-10C Producer Note 2 Available The second producer note for DCS A-10C Warthog is now streaming on Youtube at: It may take awhile for the video to be processed to HD. Please note that this note is based on Alpha code and far from complete. We feel it better to release such videos now based on pre-release code than wait until the game is about done. Video was recorded at 30 FPS at 1280x720 using internal AVI tool. No post-processing was used. Sorry, mouse cursor could not be recorded. High Dynamic Range (HDR) can be enabled/disabled by users. While the start up procedure is works for me, I'm sure users will find a flow that works better for them. This note takes place at a work-in-progress version of the new Nevada (Nellis AFB) terrain. We wanted to give you a little preview of this new terrain even though it is incomplete. No noise map yet and some issues with close range shadows.1 point

VideoIDS=XMTQyMDI0MDY0&embedid=-&showAd=01 point

How is that? IIRC Lock on FC is basically TBS but dumbed down. Arent all aircraft in TBS at DCS Fidelity? Maybe I'm wrong... My brain isn't working right now..1 point

Hey guys, I'm currently working (nearing completion) on a fairly complex DCS/FC2 mission, and it utilizes around 600 triggers, and 90 flags. Despite its complexity, it works fairly well, and I am still tweaking it. There is more I'd like to do with it, but I don't have enough remaining flags to do it. In general, there are some pretty complex things we could script into the game if we just had more flags. Will we be getting more than 100 flags in DCS A-10C? If not, this seems like it would be a simple thing to add. Personally, I think that something like 10 kB of flags would be great, that's like 80,000 or so flags, and it's still just a tiny footprint on the hard drive. No, I don't think anyone would directly code 80,000 flags, but it would open up the door to automated scripts that directly edit the decompressed .miz files and do all the very tedious dirty work needed for adding things like artillery that starts shooting and stops shooting at certain times, units "fording" rivers, large numbers of random flights, ect. Currently we don't have enough flags to do such things in large scales, even if someone made a program that would add all the triggers and flags for you.1 point

And finally some from Saturday. Due to wrong camera settings and changing conditions, my Saturday pics were a bit disappointing. Here are some that I thought worth publishing. 1. P-51 'Damn Yankee' taking off 2. SAR Demo with an AB-412SP 3. This French C-160 was used as support for the Patrouille de France 4. French Alpha Jet Solo Display landing after a nice display ... And then it started to rain ... 5 and 6. The Czech JAS-39 Gripen takes off from a wet runway 6. After landing, a lot of smoke came out of the APU compartment 7. The Belgian F-16 demoteam left for a show elsewhere, this is the spare aircraft blowing the runway dry 8. Always an impressive sight: a low hovering AH-64D 9. And then the sun came out, just long enough for the KDC-10 refuel demo 10. 'Hitec' had to cope with some clouds again 11. After his touch and go, one of his smokewinders caught fire for a moment 12. Touchdown, deploying the chute 13. Touchdown of the restored Hawker Hunter. It lost its drag-chute a moment before this picture was taken 14. Patrulla Aspa fogging up the runway 15. Two Spanish heli-pilots saying 'Hi' 16. The Czech Mi-24 demo coming in for a hover over the runway 17. Turkish Stars NF-5 back on its former home-base, almost scraping its tail over the ground1 point

Actually, as Matt had explained during his interview with SimHQ recently, the DCS A-10C is in many ways not only more technologically advanced software, but also a much deeper and more realistic model of the aircraft as a whole compared to the DTS A-10C sim for the military, which is focused specifically on cockpit avionics and HOTAS training. Of course some systems functionality had to be altered for the game version, but the overall simulation offered in DCS is considerably more inclusive.1 point

I can't believe we are getting simulator software form ED with just with few minor differences from true military flight simulator they have developed! Amazing! Tell me I am wrong, but it hasn't been like this never before, never in PC flightsim history... or I just can't recall.1 point

I like how the control column wobbles as the left engine spools up. Detail!! :D For WIP it's looking great so far, good job Matt :thumbup:1 point

ABRIS only reads information from other AC systems, it does not send info back. 1) Uncage Shkval, slave over target, lase, confirm range accuracy. 2) Hit one of the first row of buttons on Datalink and then Send To Memory to store the position. 3) Reset targeting system, move to another position. 4) Hit one of the first row of buttons on Datalink until the desired mark is flashing on ABRIS. 5) Press DL Ingress button. Target type button light will turn off, ABRIS will show a cross on desired mark. 6) Uncage Shkval, it will point to the target position. 7) If you are heading more than 90 degrees away from the target, hit Turn to Target button (best while hovering) so the heli will turn its nose towards target.1 point

Are you using the game's zoom functionality at all? If you have labels on and find some ground targets for example, then turn them off, are you able to see them at all now that you know their location? If you zoom in does it make any difference? You can adjust the labels to be more to your liking, by editing Config\View\Labels.lua in your FC2 directory. Make a backup first, and I think you might need to use a cleverer editor than Notepad (but definitely not Word/Write etc.). Something like Textpad should be fine. Things to consider are changing the formatting strings to just a dot at all ranges or similar, and possibly adjusting the colours at the bottom so friendly and enemy units are shown with the same colour. Also, maybe take and post a screenshot along with the description. I'm not sure if your system is rendering things in a way that it makes it unusually hard to spot things, or if you're just expecting too much from a video game. :)1 point

In the real aircraft, there is no trim reset. Trim reset in the sim exists because PC controllers work very differently from real aircraft controls. So if you feel you've trimmed all the wrong way, you can revert to the initial trim position. The initial trim position basically keeps the DCS Ka-50 on the ground without moving forward/backward or anywhere else (strong winds my still try to push the aircraft around while at the ground with the inital trim). So, when you're traveling at 220kph and have the aircraft more or less trimmed for level flight, trim reset would cause the heli to pitch up hard and probably bank to the right a little. Sure, you *can* reset the trim while in flight. But you shouldn't do it. When I started flying the shark, I used trim reset a lot, because I was out of control. Once I started to get used to it, the usage of trim reset decreased over time. By now, I only use trim reset after successfull landings to check how far my ground-trim is away from initial trim. The closer they are, the better I get. It's a good way to check how far you've come at controlling the shark. You can easily check on the position of the in-game flight controls with RightControl+Enter - with trim reset, they should be pretty much centered while in flight they can be located all over the place.1 point

I must say I am concerted to never using fd now. I must move my trim to pinky button that's a good idea so I can fight during trimming too1 point
