Simplified reference for HOTAS functions. This is to provide a better format (one page rather than the manual's 8.) NOTE: Some switches (like Boat) are not listed in the X52 version, as I've separated those functions in my X52 control setup (this thread). I've attached the Excel files (WH and X52) for your editing and printing pleasure. WARTHOG HOTAS: HOTASFunctions(WH).zip HOTASFunctions(x52).zip1 point

I'm an ex Navy pilot and have over 7000 hrs of flight time. I fly flight sims all the time but realize they are not the same thing. Some pilots will never touch a PC sim and others (like me) it's a hobby. Just my two cents.1 point

+1 Thanks, I'll be using it as soon as the TM Warthog is in. Should be any day now, computeruniverse here in Germany should get their first batch tomorrow! I have promised myself not to touch the sim before plugging in the proper controller for it, so... I still have pretty much everything to learn about it, including the startup procedure.1 point

The problem with using these settings above is that you loose the maximum slew rate available. To fix this I used a script so that when the mini stick reaches the last bit of travel, key presses (, . / ; ) are sent. So, the ministick acts like a joystick and you can axis tune it in game, and when it reaches near the end of travel key presses are sent. Works great! To add key presses to the ministick: - leave the stick setup as a joystick - Add the following script in the CM editor. If your Throttle is not JS1 (the first tab in CH Control Manager) change it accordingly ex. js2 instead of js1 script // Ministick send keys near end of travel cms.b1 = [ js1.a2 < 16 ]; cms.b2 = [ js1.a1 > 250 ]; cms.b3 = [ js1.a2 > 250 ]; cms.b4 = [ js1.a1 < 16 ]; endScript - Add a CMS controls device to your profile - in CMS Controls make Button 1 ; Button 2 / Button 3 . Button 4 ,1 point

Women are strange, what you do now has a reaction to what she does much later. There is no immediate impact, give choccys = receive instant sex, No, that don't work. You want cuddles after midnight when you've been upto some serious simming, then best preplan by nodding in agreement and saying a few more words than 'Mmmm' when she speaks at meal times. Marriage is not just for bedtimes.. its for life. Thats HOT! Can't imagine my wife eating me after being done though, but I can dream. :music_whistling:1 point

I had a week off work, so made a trip into the Lake District to see the RAF doing some low level flying. I had a foreign visitor as well, German tonka :thumbup:1 point

When i hear you talk i am initially reminded of those spider females that eat the males after being done. :)1 point

Hi exangelus: you want to do the following: go in DCS options/ controls and assign buttons 5,6,7,8 as modifiers (controls screen down left/ select your hotas and the buttons you want to use) then you will have 5 hat switches by pressing 5 + HAT, 6+HAT etc. it works very well. hotasxconfig1.txt1 point

Hard to tell with just the key press, but if he is not making it the spi then it defaults to the waypoint spi. Bullet1 point

There's this nifty little feature that lets you render avis from tracks to a set framerate, regardless of quality setting it will always have the target framerate. You should look into that, if you are experiencing performance problems when recording movies.1 point

1.Select Maverick on MFCD 2.Look under your HUD at the keyboard (UFC) 3.Click whatever number corresponds to the desired slew rate (1-5) 4.On the MFCD displaying maverick feed look for button that says "slew rate" and click it. It's that simple! now using the maverick, well that's a different story...;)1 point

I think the best rule is to stay at least 10 miles from the target area in a safe zone , set the autopilot to fly in a lazy circle and use the TGP to scan the target area. The TGP is excellent at long range, and much less effective at close range. When you have located a threat/target you can create a mark point and continue your search. when you are confident that you have accounted for all/most of the AA threats you can plan your attack. Creating a new flight plan using the mark points to engage AA threats first. Then mop up the remaining targets.1 point

DCS: A-10C Beta Flight Manual, page 122 Engine Monitoring Instruments I'm an aircraft mechanic (DC-10s and MD-11s, [GE CF6-50 and -80 engines] mostly,) and although I'm not an engineer, and not familiar with TF34s or CF34s, I can say with 100% certainty that I've never, ever, not once, heard of a turbofan engine designed to run ~85% N1 with the power levers firewalled. That being said, and in a 100% supportive manner, I'd like to see ED's references on the current max-power settings in the sim. As it stands, I cant even get to 85% N1 most of the time, as it maxes out around 82-83%, even after disabling the joystick and using the keyboard to ensure I'm getting full power-lever movement. (I was, there was no change.) 80ish percent N1 sounds like the most efficient CRUISE power setting, but not full power.1 point

Thanks for the comments!! I am happy to be able to share some of the experience with my fellow Warthog fans. I have a lot more pics so if there is something in particular you guys want to see let me know. The only thing we were asked not to do was to not photograph open panels, and there were not really any open on the ramp anyway. (I didn't tell them that Jake Melampys book already has photos of about every open panel on the plane.)1 point

I made a guide on how to do this (it assumes basic familiarity with the training material, but you can jump in it from there) and threw it on youtube as per request: It's not gospel on how this is done, but the method I'm using seems to work pretty well. I like the fact that you can store target data in flight plans.1 point
