2. Just wanted to encourage those going from one version DCS A-10C to a newer version, to try these tips to avoid potential problems: As always, it is a good habit to backup any folders that you may want to save, like the one in C:Users/Your Name/Saved Games/DCS Warthog. ( I personally advise renaming it by adding "1108" for example to the end, and leaving it in place. A fresh install will create a new DCS Warthog folder) Go for the full install version rather than patching over an older build. Start with a fresh C:Users/Your Name/Saved Games/DCS Warthog folder. I can hear you all groaning, but believe me, when I say that I know it is a hassle to reconfigure your HOTAS setups, but i have found it takes me less time to do it this way. ( I have a checklist that I put together that I can refer to all the steps I need to do to get my setup back to my preference from default settings.) After you are finished setting up your fresh full install to the way you like it, and have checked it, make a backup of your C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS A-10C Warthog folder as well as your C:Users/Your Name/Saved Games/DCS Warthog folder. This way if you screw anything up with a mod or any other problem, you can just delete your current folder and replace it with your backup. I hope you find some of this advise useful, and it helps you avoid future headaches. Please add your tips and advise as well. Good Hunting.

 3. OK, I got it working. It is a three or four step process. 1. Set your flight in a parked space, use the current mission start time (no delay). Be sure to check the UNCONTROLLED check box, which is right next to the HIDDEN ON MAP checkbox, right under the callsign dropdown menus. 2. Go the Triggered Actions menu (next in line after the weapons/payload menu) and select Add. You want to select PERFORM COMMAND, and then select START. Don't waste any time with the conditions menu, that is the part here that doesn't work -- at least not for me. Be sure to post and let us know if you find otherwise. I tested the time condition and the user flag condition. No go on either. 3. Create one-time trigger to activate the flight. The Action you want is the AI TASK. Then you just select your START action for whatever flight you want to trigger. Until you trigger it that way, you'll see the aircraft sitting there on the ramp, parked, with no pilot in it. Then when you trigger it, you'll the pilot appear in the cockpit and the taxi lights will come on. Magik! Thanks to ED for implementing this -- a little update in the GUI manual would have been appreciated, but what the hell, we figured it out. Ripcord

 4. No but you can see it on the TPod. People don't just fall over dead when you drop 200 pounds of tritonal on them. Pilots don't just have a clean job and simply fly around having fun, pushing a button that makes someone somewhere die. They actually watch these people get torn to bits: Implementation of such could be accomplished by simply breaking parts of the model off. Don't have to have bloody-stump textures and shit like that, just break the model to pieces and ragdoll them around. Actually it really shouldn't have much of an FPS hit. A few random-shaped chunks of debris that get thrown out of the model when it's destroyed. Wow, glad to hear you hold people who serve in the military in such high regard. We're all just a bunch of baby-rapists to you, right? The way I see it, being opposed to the real violence that accompanies real warfare with the very aircraft you're killing virtual Russians with is hypocritical and immature. I'm sorry those of us in the military don't adhere to the lofty moral standards of Conure and Shagrat, but war is hell and this is a simulation of it. Requesting ragdoll physics for infantry and limb separation from high-explosive impacts isn't unreasonable, and if you can't stomach virtual violence in your virtual A-10 on your computer, safe and comfortable in your home while casually badmouthing people who put their life on the line so you can enjoy the freedoms you have (a hilariously hypocritical stance for a German to take...), well, maybe you should just stop playing war games altogether. I think the real people who are immature and are sick and twisted are those who would be unable to draw a line between reality and a game with the inclusion of gore.

 5. Because people who are sooo fond of blood and gore when making a bombing run are of no use in any army! Warfare is NOT a game :mad: I "play" / fly sim to enjoy the tactical and technical challenges not to watch some simulated "war-porn". ED has already implemented a lot of detail and realism in the ground forces engagements and yes there is enough "killing" going on to accurately simulate a strafing run on infantry. Just for the "Boah, did you see the innards fly around!!! Cool man!" talk in the YouTube video comments these additional "realism" is not necessary, at least not for me. :huh: If ED sees it necessary to add gore they probably will, but for the sake of making some sick minds happy in their lust for brutality there are enough sources out there on the web, including games, videos and photographs...

 7. The mod is finished and ready for download. :-) Please unpack the zip package first than install the content Mig21bis_FC2_2_0.zip with modman. For detailed instruction see Mig21bis_readme_Eng.doc and watch the training tracks in Mission folder! http://www.lockonfiles.com/index.php/files/file/1993-mig-21bis-for-flaming-cliffs-2-with-6dof-3d-cockpit-v20/ @john X: Yeah I need some week for recreation and finalise my other small mods than I try to make a Mig-23 of course.

 8. I agree entirely - I'm a complete pacifist though, I see war as something that should be a measure only used under direct threat, when prolonged and extensive negotiations have failed (e.g ww2). DCS-A10 is about an aircraft, it's systems, and mastery of both. Start turning it into a system whereby people are getting blown up and suddenly it moves from being a celebration of aviation and technology, to a celebration of murder. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to play COD!

 10. Maybe this game would be for you then: http://www.airconflicts.net/ (airplanes + bloody infantry deaths) I find all of the fun of A-10C in the flying, and I enjoy FPS games like playing a sport, not to satisfy some primal desires. I remember back in the day when a good war game could be rated T. Now all of the developers think they have to make heads explode and have all of the characters cussing every 10 seconds for someone to buy them. They certainly sacrifice realism in enough other areas? I personally find it disturbing that any person can enjoy turning animated humans into a bloody pulp stain.

 11. I don't think that's necessarily correct. Trying to outperform the opposition isn't always the best business sense. You can completely avoid them and gain a market share that way. FA/18 vs FA/18 would split a community, as for those happy with the VRS product there would be no good reason to make a move to the DCS engine. Something like an F15E would pull over those from F4 and Superbug simply because it is a new fresh product. I think it's generally best to be innovative (e.g the KA50/A10c) as it is guaranteed to interest people, rather than to try to outdo something which has already been done (to a very high standard, judging by the reviews of the VRS Superbug). Anyway, I wouldn't imagine that the dynamics of the civilian flight simulation market have much (if any) implication on the air frame we receive. Despite that I still think the next simulator is probably the Hornet, based on the limited evidence we have available.

 12. well sry for starting "fight thread" but jdams nead an SPI . :smartass: scenario: u are i a hurry - 8nm to target - hasty searching for tanks in TGP... Got one (close to wp but NOT on it)! -> stationary target so i take Jdam - chose it ... 4nm out - hurry! - align with PBIL ... 3sec to pickle - PICKLE ! You will most likely not hit ur target , cause in the upper scenarion u forgot to set the SPI on ur TGP. results in flying onto the PBIL which is based on the SPI(most likey still on the WP) and u do not recognize that because the target is next to the WP -> u look at the target BUT u are firing at the SPI ! Solution: ALWAYS make sure that ur SPI is set to the Sensor with which u are "Monitoring the target / delivering the weapon"

 14. For JDAM's - is TGP object a SPI? And are you doing laser ranging? E.G. activating laser prior to making a SPI? Lase 10 seconds after pickle or did you mean lase 10 seconds before impact. The first one could be bad and cause misses on LGB.

 19. Hey. Personally that's fine but I am twelve years old. Could be a little bit obvious that it isn't a 12 rated game with body parts everywhere. I don't want to have to play DCS in secret. :)

 20. - i have uploaded here a nice engine sound, from the cockpit, similar to what you hear in a MiG-21 cockpit, or so,.. - you can hear the sound by increasing and decreasing the rpm of the engine http://dl.transfer.ro/transfer_ro-24jul-8818a22fcb9ecfd2.zip

 21. Do what Kuky and I said. This still works as before but you have to manually edit the new files. There is new code in the new files that is required by the sim. Backup before you start editing!

 22. I solved the problem with version 1.1.0.9. The variables have been changed. Here is the way to do that in version 1.1.0.9: - First go to S:\DCS A-10C\Scripts\Aircrafts\A-10C\Cockpit - Then go to the indicator folder you want to use (Eg : AN_ALR69V\indicator - then open the init.lua file of your indicator (Eg : AN_ALR69V_init.lua here) - find this line : indicator_type = indicator_types.COMMON -And just paste below this code : purposes = {render_purpose.GENERAL, render_purpose.HUD_ONLY_VIEW, render_purpose.SCREENSPACE_OUTSIDE_COCKPIT, render_purpose.SCREENSPACE_INSIDE_COCKPIT} local x_size = 1 local y_size = 1 function update_screenspace_diplacement(zoom_value) local default_width = 0.5 * LockOn_Options.screen.height + (64 * zoom_value) if default_width > LockOn_Options.screen.height then default_width = LockOn_Options.screen.height end if default_width > 0.5 * LockOn_Options.screen.width then default_width = 0.5 * LockOn_Options.screen.width end local default_height = (y_size/x_size) * default_width local default_y = LockOn_Options.screen.height - default_height local default_x = LockOn_Options.screen.width - default_width dedicated_viewport = {default_x,default_y,default_width,default_height} dedicated_viewport_arcade = {default_x, 0 ,default_width,default_height} end update_screenspace_diplacement(0) function set_full_viewport_coverage(viewport) dedicated_viewport = {viewport.x, viewport.y, viewport.width, viewport.height} dedicated_viewport_arcade = dedicated_viewport purposes = {render_purpose.GENERAL, render_purpose.HUD_ONLY_VIEW, render_purpose.SCREENSPACE_OUTSIDE_COCKPIT, render_purpose.SCREENSPACE_INSIDE_COCKPIT} -- set purposes to draw it always render_target_always = true end -- try to find assigned viewport local multimonitor_setup_name = "Config/MonitorSetup/"..get_multimonitor_preset_name()..".lua" local env = {} env.screen = LockOn_Options.screen local f = loadfile(multimonitor_setup_name) if f then setfenv(f,env) pcall(f) local vp = nil vp = env.RWR_SCREEN if vp ~= nil then dbg_print("ok we have directly assigned viewport to MFCD\n") set_full_viewport_coverage(vp) end endChange the red value name to set your viewport Name -Go to \Config\MonitorSetup\YourMonitorFile.lua - And add Viewport like this : RWR_SCREEN = { x = 1000; y = 1245; width = 170; height = 170; }
RWR, Clock are fine, no change in position and size in comparison to 1.1.0.8. However CMSC, CMSP, UHF are scaled differently and have to be repositioned and resized again via YourMonitorFile.lua. Very annoying. :(

 23. God no. I'd rather eat a bullet than see "Yet Another F-16 Sim". Might as well slap a Call of Duty label on it for how boring and overused that airframe is. Back to Falcon 4 kthx. Actually as a serious point, it probably wouldn't. The F-16, A-10, F-15, and even the F-14 have a lot of 'sex appeal' and the civilian sector are more familiar with them. The F/A-18C certainly does not. Compounding the problem is that almost anyone familiar with the F/A-18 is more likely familiar with the Superhornet, so people buying it and then finding that they're flying its retarded crippled cousin would probably confuse a lot of people. I have no doubt that the current DCS market would buy it up, but as for attracting new people, well, there's really nothing I could find that would draw me to the airframe. Certainly not based on how it looks, god no.
