Real Tree Mod In the works... Adding depth to the forests2 points

Last night... on the 74th Flying Tigers Server... operation Samson... Me and a bunch of Hogs just about cleaned the Samson area (after heavy losses due to the SA-11 battery in "Death Star" mode)... ...suddenly the Ops warns about a pair of hostile Mig-23s, incursing the area of operation... Recalling a sentence from the briefing about two Migs captured by the enemy, i frantically scanned the skies... These two start taking names the minute they entered missiles range... In what seemed like a couple of seconds there were three A-10s plummeting down... Luckily, when the frenzy started I was a little further to the shore at 10000ft, evaluating the new target area that was open after cleaning the Samson task... Migs went pass me... I followed their smoking trail of destruction, anxiety & rage mixing in my head... uncaged Sidewinders... As soon as I got tone my missile went off but this sneaky Mig went up for the clouds stepping on flares and afterburners... The fourth Hog managed to fire an AIM-9 just before he ate an Aphid (R-60), thus taking one of the dreaded Migs with him... It was me & him now... I climbed up through the cloudbase, blind... just praying for a tone in the direction I thought the beast was headed last... Then I hear another Hog taking the fall, nearer to the base... Damn they were fast, bloodthirsty... like wolves storming a sheep herd... I descend back down through greyness, just to witness the last of my bretheren being shred apart by the Mig's guns... Was I the last sheep, or the sheperd... I don't know... but my squealing Sidewinder seeker pointed to the smoking remnants of the last fallen Hog told me the big bad wolf was coming... head on... I clutched the weapons release, missile went woooosh and a second later it was me again, all alone wandering the skies... with just a hurting memory of my lost brothers and a picture of a Mig-23, plummeting down in pieces... Tacview Record Download At 1:10:00 after the destruction of the last armour the Mig act starts...1 point

So, being fairly new to BS, for the past few weeks I have been flying the shooting range mission, just to get a feel of the old girl, last night it was time to go on patrol, which meant the enemy shot back, which meant, I went down. So whats the best way to engage? fast and low, ambush, or high and slow, and what distance if I used that tactic, thanks in advance.1 point

Yeah ok I know this has been porsted in another thread, but hardly anyone is looking at let alone able to help me, so maybe i can find some help here. I have downloaded a custom tutorial mission and placed it in the missions folder and I cannot see it when I open the game. There are also a stack of other missions that are already in the folder but I cannot see them also. Any suggestions??1 point

Not a big thing. But I noticed that none of the other planes have a afterburner effect still. Is this something you are going to be able to fix.1 point

''you must give some reputation around before giving it back to Frostiken again....'' Nice post, 100% agree with you :smartass::pilotfly:1 point

Anything that can fly a combat mission more than 400 miles away without being forced to tank twice or risk running out of gas. Anything with a thrust-to-weight ratio greater than 0.9. Anything that can drop more than four bombs without having to immediately turn around and go home. Anything that has actually played a pivotal role in even a single conflict to have occurred in the past 20 years. :] Look, I understand that odds of getting an F-15E is extremely low. And I really don't want to see the Mazda Miata of the US Air Force, the F-16, be romanticized and over-glorified even more than it already is. So I secretly know that we're probably going to actually be getting an F/A-18. But I do think that the C-model over the Superhornet is kind of stupid, and I've always hated that aircraft because it's so yawn-inducingly underwhelming at everything it has ever done. The only purpose the F/A-18 ever had was serving as an example for McDonnell Douglas to fix all the lackluster performance and flaws in the F/A-18 and make a far superior aircraft in every aspect by taking the already venerable and storied history of the F-15C and turning it into the most capable deep-strike multi-role tactical bomber the world's ever seen. You're comparing an aircraft that isn't even rated past 7Gs to an aircraft that could strap a combat-loaded F/A-18C to its underside and carry it into battle. I will still buy DCS: F/A-18 and carrier ops should be fun (for a while at least... not really the deal-maker for me that some of you make it out to be), and yeah, it at least has some power, good speed, and performs radically different from an A-10. But I cannot imagine how anyone could possibly want the F/A-18C over even an F-16 (objectively speaking, let's pretend the F-16 hasn't been so widely popularized), when it's so completely inferior in every regard, to such a degree that the Navy literally settled for second-best by picking the YF-17 over the -16. The very reason the Superhornet even exists was to try to fix the legacy F/A-18s many shortcomings. I guess most civilians are probably going to like a particular combat aircraft for more superficial reasons than practical one - they like the look, maybe they heard about it a lot as a kid, it was in a movie, etc - but of the four aircraft we could pick from - F-15E, F-16, F/A-18 Superhornet, and the F/A-18C, the -C is literally the worst one you could possibly chose from that list. So with that in mind, I'm honestly baffled by how excited people are getting over an aircraft that deserves to be hated. At least admit that based on purely logical reasons the legacy F/A-18 is a terrible, terrible aircraft. Some people really like having roadblocks in their way, I can understand that challenges are what makes a game fun - but I really don't want to see my sim flying spent mostly on flying to and from the AO, and having a loiter time measured in just a handful of minutes. Taking off, flying over empty ocean, tanking, reaching the target and having only about fifteen minutes to find and prosecute targets with my scant handful of munitions, flying back, maybe tanking again and once more flying over empty ocean to land on a carrier just sounds like a lot of time spent not doing the combat aspect and would wear on me. Then again, I'm not one of these guys who likes to play FSX so I can fly FEDEX packages across the Atlantic. Besides, the F/A-18 is ugly. Move the verts back thirty five feet so they're over the stabs where they belong and we'll talk.1 point

Just had a couple of test flights. I'm absolutely amazed. My jaw is on the floor. Just unthinkable. Makes me proud that this mod includes some of my skins. Thank You Beczl and everyone who worked on this amazing MOD.1 point

There's some kind of misalignment with headings in the game that goes beyond and is more severe than simple magnetic variation.1 point

One issue i've noticed during online gaming is that many players taxi around 30-40knots GS. So here's a quick recap on how to show groundspeed: Switch the right MFCD to CDU. Change the right dial below the CDU itself to *Position*. Click the OSB next to *IAS 50* twice, and you have the Ground Speed instead.1 point

The two black sensors on the nose and tail are part of the AN/ALR-69, Radar Warning System. Per the 1A-10C-34-1-1: The AN/ALR-69(V) radar warning receiver systems provide the capability to detect radar missile activity and missile launch conditions, and provide the following functions: search radar, emitter audio handoff, symbol separation for ID, emitter relative bearing, altitude prioritization, reduction, multiple ID databases. The AN/AAR-47, Missile Warning System consists of four optical sensors, two in the tail and one on etch wingtip. Per the 1A-10C-34-1-1: The AN/AAR-47 MWS is an Electronic Combat (EC) system that provides missile warning (MW) of surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles, as well as Laser Warning (LW) when the aircraft is being illuminated by a laser system. The AAR-47 is designed to detect an incoming missile and automatically provide an audio and visual sector-warning message via the ALQ-213 CMSP/CMSC indicators.1 point

JTAС я ставил в надежде что он заработает. Надеждам сбыться не суждено было, русский ПАН не работает в игре, увы. Нет, проблем быть не должно. Что в этой миссии у Вас не получается?1 point

During the beta the docs for the new task system included a "land" task for helicopters that would've got them to land at any designated point. Seems to have quietly disappeared, so I guess it was harder than they expected. Bit of a shame, but probably one day it'll turn up. Use a deactivate group action in a trigger (I think it's probably listed as GROUP DEACTIVATE). When deactivated all members of the group will disappear.1 point

don't forget, Nellis will be the first new full terrain map the ED have ever released....so even if the idea of the location doesn't excite you, surely the fact that it is an opening move for a new branch of tech for the DCS world must ..if Nellis + area is successful, imagine what else might be in the pipeline...1 point
