  1. I recently bought the Spitfire and The Big Show campaign. I'm up to mission 4 and enjoying it. With the release of Normandy 2 today, I'm wondering, should I keep playing, or wait a bit in case @Reflected is going to release some fixes or updates relating to the modified map.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm certain that both times I was still quite far from the boat. I believe the burble effect occurs right near the threshold, or at least much closer.
  3. Thanks, I'll try to save a track next time. The HUD altimeter and trim are the unusual things, since I have crashed this and other aircraft many times I don't believe I had auto throttle engaged 1st time, and definitely did not use it at all 2nd time. Nor auto pilot (ie. attitude hold) since I was on final approach.
  4. I've tallied a hundred carrier landings, a dozen Case 3. Twice however, I've ended up in the drink for reasons I'm not so sure. It starts out looking good, still a mile from the boat, on speed and ILS looking good. Then suddenly the horizon line on the HUD moves up as if I'm about 300ft below water, and the altitude reading makes no sense. Confused, I add power and pull up. The second strange thing occurs then, the plane has auto-trimmed somehow, and I don't have enough pitch axis to counter it. After a brief battle with the aircraft, I end up in the water, well before the boat. First time I just assumed I'd somehow gotten too slow and too low, but now I'm not so sure. Sorry no recording to show. Has anyone else experienced this or have and idea what's going wrong?
  5. Just a note here that it seems the Position Lights must be on to trigger mission progress. I toggled the exterior lights but had forgotten to put position lights on. Only after turning those on did the mission progress. Strobe and Formation lights were not enough.
  6. DCS 2.8.3.37556 Open Beta Changelog reports this fixed.
  7. Tried starting mission 5 twice. Each time, Blade flies away in the opposite direction instead of attempting to join up. Last radio message I have is saying that I'm waiting for Blade. Last message from Blade is he's reached 2.4kft so we switch to Pri#3. Here's a screen shot of me orbiting rock/wp1 while he's flying fast in opposite direction: (I'm the white F, he's the blue F approaching Wujah...)
  8. Happened again. Looks like recent update un-did my fix since this is a game file, not user save game folder file.
  9. Just purchased the map and had a few flights so far. Here's my thoughts... The good: . Not terrible, was worried from negative reviews . Unique scenery compared to alpine, grass and desert maps . Unique atmospheric lighting . Large . Sometimes beautiful The bad: . Low density ground scenery . Poor performance in some places . Some mountain tops very jaggy, low res elevation map . Some low / detail textures look bad Hoping for future improvements: . 'Rock' (rocky mountain) detail texture gets massively improved. Looks terrible up close compared to other terrain types. . Towns with just road grids get filled out with buildings and scenery . More airports, the more the merrier . Better tree placement, matching terrain coloring and density . Remove baked shadows from satellite imagery . Improve colored mountain lakes . Improve water way edges . Higher resolution digital elevation map, even if install choice for more HDD space. . Quick start missions for most aircraft, at least Razbam aircraft! I don't regret buying the map at this time. I am not skilled with the map editor to make anything interesting, so look forward to more single player content on the map. I plan to make recreational, training and user mission flights from time to time while watching and waiting for improvements.
  10. Just got back to this campaign. Mission 3 worked fine for me. I'd call this issue closed.
  11. I actually reported that as separate issue here
  12. The current dialog box choices can be confusing to understand. Here's an example: Instead, (in this above example) I suggest something like: ------ Title: "Quit without saving?" Message: "Changes to the mission have not yet been saved. All recent changes will be lost if you quit without saving." Buttons: [Save] [Quit] [Cancel] ------ Guidelines about Dialog box design can be found in many place like: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/design/controls/dialogs-and-flyouts/dialogs The goal is to clearly identify the issue and provide buttons clearly labeled for the user's response.
  13. I'm loving it! Thank you! Always good to find a reason to fly the Huey, my very first DCS module, and in such style
  14. Just happened to me again. I already had your earlier fix Buzzline. Comparing files just shows some local vars moved around the null check. Am using your latest fix now.
  15. No specific mention in DCS 2.8.0.32937 Open Beta today, could this still be the fix we're waiting for?
  16. Lucky I checked first, was just about to fly this mission for first time.
  17. Coming back to the F-18 after a long time, I tried mission - "Weapons Qualification - AGM-65 Maverick Nevada" Found the IR contrast was pretty much unusable. The ground texture had higher contrast than the target tanks and those tanks were firing machine guns, so hot targets, not empty statics. Screenshot attached. I had to get this close to see the vehicles, further back or zoomed out the dots / blobs were indistinguishable from the ground texture. EDIT: Forgot to mention that the shipping crates stand out in stark contrast. They are clearly visible and target-able from many miles away while the T-55 tanks are not. Could not find this issue with forum search, so reporting here. DCS version: 2.7.17.29493
  18. With my current joystick, I used its own software to make the mini stick also behave like a 4 way hat or simply 4 buttons. DSC appears to only allow button bindings for the Jester controls. It's been a long time since I used the TWCS throttle, so memory is a bit fuzzy. I don't remember if the Thrustmaster software allowed the mini stick to also raise button events. I never used the advanced Thrustmaster software which did have a lot of configuration options. I did briefly use Joystick Gremlin which allows axes to be converted to buttons and very many more things. Joystick Gremlin was very powerful and not too difficult to use, at least when following a guide. That's all can think of. I suggest Googling how to get buttons from the mini stick axes, and consider experimenting with the advanced Thrustmaster software or Joystick Gremlin. Petitioning Heatblur to add native axis support sounds reasonable also, but you may not want to wait for the result (I see you've pretty much done this in your other thread.).
  19. From May 25 change log: DCS 2.7.14.24228 Open Beta * Water has very bright reflections at night in the mission without clouds after the mission with cloud preset - fixed. Edit: Confirmed fixed.
  20. Thanks, I see it's been reported since at least May 2021. 100% reproducible, hopefully will get fixed soon. At least we have a work around.
  21. Thanks for isolation info. If this has been reported earlier, particularly with any official response, please add the link if you find it. This is the closest thread I found when searching before posting:
  22. Just noticed this with latest version v2.7.12.23362 Have not isolated, but these steps did reproduce: Steps to reproduce 1. AH-64 -> Instant Action -> Desert Challenge 2. Quit mission 3. F-18 -> Mission -> Mission Qualification: Supercarrier CASE III Recovery 4. Observe sea glowing. (Restart game and skip straight to 3. to see normal behavior) Good (Normal) Bad (After repro steps) EDIT: Workaround is to restart game. (Repo step 4 hints at this, but it's important to know it can be temporarily avoided.)
  23. @Mange Your request is very reasonable. Any control that behaves like a switch rather than button needs the 'Action or not action' control binding, like Master Arm and Arrestor Hook often do in modules. We should not need hacks that will get overridden by updates. Chance this module, including controls, will be updated in future... 100% By the way, I do appreciate hacks and work arounds. For now, I just bind Open and just never close the guard. Would personally be happy for option to start open.
  24. You won't regret that. Great plane and 2.5 Baltic Dragon campaigns (1.5 come with the aircraft, 1 sold separately)
  25. Finished the campaign today. Enjoyed the experience. Played about one mission per week until mission 9. Decided to wait for bug fix and play some other sims. Missions typically took 2.5hrs to complete which is a big commitment for a single play session. It would still be nice if all missions (of that length) could be split into two parts so player could resume in the middle. A bit like [Take off & Training part 1], then [Training part 2 & landing]. Not sure how practical it is to create and maintain those extra mission files. Perhaps something for ED to work on (along with more mission branching etc.) I could safely say I only took the plunge due to Baltic Dragon's name on the box, more so for exciting topics like 'training' . The experience and immersion was great as expected. I normally wait six months for everyone else to find the bugs and have them fixed, but was looking forward to more A-10 flight, so jumped in on day one. No regrets. Overall quality was good. Mostly small spelling or mis-match between text and voice type issues, no show stoppers bar the (now fixed) Mission 9 one. So thanks Baltic Dragon, well done with this campaign. And thanks to the helpers and great voice overs.
