You consulted legal counsel for 30 euros? Was the counsel free? For those of us with no legal connection, always file complaint at BBB and California State Attorney General's Office.

Vive Pro is the best VR headset I've owned/tried. It was overpriced at the time but for how long it's lasting, now it was worth it. Few flaws it has can easily be fixed with mod/upgrade and resolution is same as Index. Being it Steam native also makes it stable and SteamVR 1.16 really brought new life into this thing. DCS is super smooth and clear.

I do not use this mod because I find default neutral dot label to be adequate in 2.7. It fades away in the distance and size seems to change as they get closer too. One thing I did edit is that dot is 2 pixels above the plane or ground unit. This can be changed in line 107 Change 2 at end of the line to 0

Are you talking about Throttle to Idle part? If so, that's not accomplished by moving throttle. There's key for it. -
Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
Taz1004 replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Probably same one as vehicle smoke. And you can decrease length but will probably break flame. Like I've said earlier, changing one will likely break another attribute. -
For me, this was related to in-game fullscreen mode. No more crashing after I turned it off. And using Alt+Enter to enter the fullscreen didn't cause crash as long as I had in-game fullscreen checked off. In-game fullscreen option was causing crash on second mission 100% of the time. I have fullscreen optimization disabled on DCS.exe and DCS_Updater.exe

Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
Taz1004 replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
UPDATED TO V12 Minor update to flame texture and smoke marker. Flame texture applies to SP version only. I personally left that flame effect as it looked like the smoke is being lit up by the flame below. You guys are pickier than my clients. I also made the smoke marker blow in the wind more. Also, I noticed the flame gradient texture was 32 bit. ED seems to love 32 bit textures. It's just gradient for flame. So I changed it to 8 bit. Not sure if it'll provide any performance but can't hurt.- 840 replies

Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
Taz1004 replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
The weird part to me is that there's absolutely no wind and that you put way too many of them. Otherwise, smoke are bigger? And I'm actually surprised that you get better frame rate with the mod. If you're talking about the specs of the flame rising up, I have to edit the texture. I left it as it didn't really bother me. -
Barthek did an excellent job adjusting the color of the tree textures. But the flaw of the default Speedtree still remains in his trees. First one is Barthek's trees and watch in fullscreen. Trees in lower part of the screen will flicker. The flicker is actually smoothed out by YouTube compression but is much more visible in game. Especially if you lower Forest Detail Factor which by the way is pretty good fps boost. In Better Trees, textures are fixed so there's very little flicker of billboard trees. This is with Forest Detail Factor set to lowest.

Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
Taz1004 replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I did reduce it. You're saying that's typical in real world situations? In the game, it affects all smoke. Like I've said, they changed it so ALL smoke, whether it's for a truck or factory or plane, uses same smoke system. And not much can be done to vary based on their type. And the flame and wavy motion gets faster with stronger wind. It's difficult to make it look proper in both 30kt and 0kt wind. I just optimized it for around 6kts wind. -
Okay... I guess that settles it. I didn't misquote you btw. You're just not understanding ANYTHING I say. Where did I praise how good Defender is? Saying it's adequate as a layer of security and we're knowingly allowing its security flaw is "bubbling" how good it is? And I'm misquoting? LMAO. Enuff butting my head against a wall. My first block on this forum.

I recently bought Syria and PG but I still use Caucasus the most because it has most campaigns, missions and tutorials. And I still recommend this tree mod over default for 2.7 Below is default with billboard trees that pop and flicker. More noticeable in fullscreen. Better Trees Dark with texture fixed There's also the new Forest Details Factor which forces 2D billboard trees closer. This seems to give nice FPS boost and my billboard trees do hold up fairly well at close range even when this option is set to lowest. I actually prefer this option at lowest as it eliminates the bubble where that LOD transition happens which actually bothered me more.

I know what it means. I was asking what "YOUR" definition was. Do you trust it with your life? Or do you trust it just enough as part of multi-layer security? I am latter and I am sure everyone who uses defender here is same. It is not their ONLY security. Do you "trust" your TotalAV as absolute single layer security? If not, how is it any different than anyone using Defender? I doubt there's ANYONE who will say they "trust" Microsoft. But they're just "using" it. And you actually do have a choice. You can dual boot and use Windows for games only. Without entering any personal info. And boot into Linux for everything else. But most of us don't do that for convenience. Just like the waiter and valet example I gave. But I'm not gonna tell those people that their dumb for trusting the valet or waiter.
-
What is your definition of "trusting"? And how is that definition different than "using"? Do you "trust" your TotalAV? Do you "trust" Google? Or Facebook? Do you trust your bank? Do you trust your government? Do you trust that your front door will stop intruder?
-
I think you missed my point. I wasn't saying there is alternate. I just disagreed with you labeling our usage and knowingly allowing it as "dumb". As I pointed out in my hacked example, there are multiple layers of security. Not just antivirus or defender. And I certainly don't think it's "dumb" for using defender as one of the layer.

I think that first Wags video is either incorrect or outdated. At least when I ran into this issue couple months ago, I had to confirm LAT, LONG, and ALT. The video only shows confirming LAT and LONG. Not ALT. -
Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
Taz1004 replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I was responding to Quekel regarding not being particle related if it only happens when dropped on city. Yours is very likely particle related. I've explained this many times but I'll explain again. Transparency is one of the most costly render feature. It has to calculate what's behind and then what's on top. Draw calls. If there's transparency over transparency, draw calls increase exponentially. If this happens on small smoke in the distance that covers 100x100 pixels, it's not a big deal. But if it covers your entire screen, then entire screen will be overdrawn. When you fire missile or rocket and its smoke covers your whole screen, you will notice frame rate drop because of this. This is not related to number of particles. It doesn't matter if there are 10 particle or 1 particle covering your screen. As long as it covers your screen, there will be same overdraw. This is what I meant by decreasing density probably will not make much difference. But how much screenspace the particle is taking up. Typically most of us look at smoke from distance. We rarely fly into it. So 50 pixel smoke isn't that big of deal compared to 10 pixel smoke. But if you're doing missions where you have to get close to smoke, just go back to small default smoke. -
BTW, I was recently hacked and let me share it as both warning and illustrate how antivirus doesn't help. My Steam account was locked for suspicious activity. Someone must've tried to access multiple times. So I was in the process of recovering my account and password through their automated system. With series of verification via email. All of sudden I got notification that I made $267 worth of purchase on Steam and gifted them to someone. That was exact amount I had on my Paypal. My new password didn't work and I was locked out of my account. What happened is one of the email verification was not from Steam but from this hacker. Looked exactly like from Steam and even the email address domain was steamsupport.com. And because I initiated the process, I wasn't being suspicious. Clicking the link in the email sent me to a site that looked like Steam site which told me to enter current and new password. I don't know if this hacker knew I was attempting the recovery at that specific time or just coincidence. But basically I was fooled. And no antivirus will save you if you "confirm" the action through this type of hacks. Fortunately, Paypal has protection against this so I reported it. Blocked the payment. But I had to reinstall Windows to be safe and changed all my passwords again.

Most of us are aware of the big brother apps and softwares. But I believe most of us also knowingly allow it for convenience. We do it all the time like giving your credit card to a waiter or keys to valet. Google by far is the worst. It tracks where you've been if you use Google maps. And they actually push ads based on stores you've been to and passed by. And they know what part of which YouTube videos you've been rewinding. All part of "Google Analytics". They know your passwords even if you elect not to save them. And Google was big part of Snowden scandal. If you don't trust Microsoft, you should be on Linux in the first place. Installing Windows and not trusting its security doesn't make sense to me.

Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
Taz1004 replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I can't say as I haven't dropped bombs onto city. But my guess is that these fps issues are not particle related. If it's particle related, it should happen all the time. Not just on certain situations. -
Better Smoke V22 for DCS 2.9
Taz1004 replied to Taz1004's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
You can play with Density settings in staticSmoke.lua But it probably will not matter much how many particles it's generating. More of how much of the screensapce the particles are taking up. -
I haven't done this campaign in 2.7 but did you get "Mission Completed" message? And did it say Mission completion "100" on the debrief page where you press "End Mission"? Make sure you're completing the mission parameter or it'll go back. You can check exactly what the mission goal is by opening the mission in Mission Editor. You can find out your mission file name at beginning of the mission briefing.

If you have performance issue with default smoke, you should ask in the bug section. This mod does not have performance enhancement. And I don't know which guns and crates you're talking about but if they're placeable, you can remove them from mission editor. -
