FCR in MRM mode doesnt turn on when startup routine used Ground Power
Caster replied to pchRage's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Was going to raise separately but seems like it could be related. If I turn on FCR in NAV mode on startup (I don't use ground power), it is not enabled for A/A mode, and vice versa. Start up jet, leaving FCR off (remaining in nav mode) Turn on FCR Nav mode has FCR on Switch to A/A mode, FCR is off Turning FCR on and off again fixes this Likewise... If the manual is written by then, I can't remember if that's been true for other early access modules

Welcome! There's a bunch of great communities dedicated to helping out new and old players getting to grips with all aspects of DCS, and hosting events and training. Avoid any that charge money for training like the plague. I'm in Tactical DCS (https://discord.gg/tacticaldcs), we have dedicated instructors and training events, as well as campaigns, very low maintainence, anyone welcome. There's also places like hoggit, spudknockers' discord and a bunch of others. Finally, for any full fidelity aircraft chuck's guides are a must have reference https://www.mudspike.com/chucks-guides-dcs/ (which might be the guide you're referencing, it does have stuff about basic runway/carrier patterns, it's a good place to start)

It's a real-life feature of the aircraft according to chuck's guide, nosewheel steering is used as an alternate push-to-talk while in the air
-
I've also had issues where axis inputs will register as full deflection until you've moved them through their full range of movement. Could be a cause?

From what I remember both the datalink and tacan work off the radio, so only one can be used at a time. Western jets all seem to have separate equipment or TACAN

Complete Newbie rookie pilot to DCS
Caster replied to RavenLeader's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I only went for trackIR because it was the first one I found, it's definintely not worth getting the "pro" version imo. I've heard good things about delanclip, but I can only speak to my experience with ttrackir, which has been excellent, since I found a great profile for curves so it was very easy to set up -

First off, welcome From everything I've heard, alienware tends to be overpriced (if you want prebuilt you absolutely cannot go wrong with PC Specialist, customer support is excellent, but compare relative specs with the alienware and make up your own mind). AMD pretty much have the best specs/value atm (breaks my intel fan heart ), but DCS cares way more about single core cpu performance atm than threading, so maybe don't bother with a threadripper. I would recommend 32Gb of RAM, I saw a big upgrade in multiplayer performance when I upgraded from 16Gb. For reference I have a 3090, i5-9600k clocked to ~4.9Ghz, 32Gb RAM, and it definitely is bottlenecked on the CPU, max settings I get ~120fps singleplayer, and anywhere from 30 - 80fps multiplayer. There's lots of options you can tweak for lessen GPU load, but not so many for CPU that don't have a big impact on fidelity. One last thing, no matter what your existing HOTAS setup, if you don't have headtracking I would prioritise that, it makes a HUGE difference. There's good DIY "free" options, as well as more expensive stuff like delanclip, which I've heard very good things about. I went with TrackIR, and it's been perfect. Bonk!

Looks more like you need to change your contrast, it'll look like that if it's over exposed

FWIW I tried again and did the same, and it worked fine, except I taxied to the end on the runway, turned off onto the apron, then shutdown. Might be nice to add parking spot to the kneeboards similar to how the mirage campaign does it

Loving the tone of the first mission. I completed mission one, but I guess I didn't finish it correctly. I landed and got a message saying mission complete, taxi to parking, and I figured that was good enough and exited. Now going to play second mission, instead I get the first mission again. Did I need to taxi to a specific spot and shut down? Spoilers I guess? My other thought was that maybe I needed to shoot down the fencer once the SAM fired on me. I interpreted "Take it down" as meaning dive to defeat the SAM, as I think the call was from my wingman, and I didn't know if that counts as authorisation in terms of ROE. Maybe I'm overthinking it

I had the quest two and had to return it because I couldn't read the F-16 MFDs no matter what combination of settings I used. I'm waiting 5 years for a few more gens of hardware before I bother again

Keyboard command to radar lock targets in F16
Caster replied to Spence5470's topic in New User Briefing Room
Technically I don't think that's strictly "lock", but cycles through bugging a system target. It can lock stuff, but won't help you much if you don't have any system tracks. It's possible you don't actually have a radar contact on screen, and are instead seeing a datalink contact, which you can't lock. I highly recommend checking out the Chuck's Guide if you haven't already, it's section on the radar (2.1, you can get a table of contents via your browser) should have all the information you need. https://www.mudspike.com/wp-content/uploads/guides/DCS F-16C Viper Guide.pdf -
Entschuldigung für meine wahrscheinlich schreckliche Google Übersetzer Deutsch, aber ich habe auch dieses Problem nicht. Laut Handbuch sollte das Getriebe unter 400 km / h sicher sein

You're looking for TMS Up, can't remember what key that is, but it'll show up if you search for it -
How does this work pre-GPS? It affects CCIP as well as CCRP and it can make carrier strike ops impossible
-
Any chance at a better look at the Gear Status LEDs? Looks great, definitely on the list

Saved games will be something like this: C:\Users\theCave\Saved Games\DCS

FC3 is a great deal, but I actually find them harder to learn, something to do with having to remember keybinds for EVERYTHING in the plane, as opposed to only what you need to replicate the HOTAS functionality in the real plane. Plus I struggle to find good guides for them, whereas the full fidelity ones have excellent guides (google chucks guides). Another big tip is to join a community with people who like to teach, I'm part of Tactical DCS, and we have a really big focus on helping people learn stuff (for free, unlike some communities), and you'd be welcome to join OIh and if you decide to buy a full fidelity, but don't know what to get, you cant go wrong with the F18, it does everything, and is pretty user friendly
-
You've got to let it load, after a short while the plane selection will work

Are there any proper and active chopper only servers out there?
Caster replied to sirrah's topic in Multiplayer
Not dedicated, but there are proper helo missions on the Tactical DCS Dynamic PvE server, but only when it runs the caucuses Elbrus mission -
