  1. I use manual throttle (also with ACLS) and don't touch the DLC, but takes some practice to anticipate the changes in speed and react in advance. I only fly the -A model. You still can get ACLS lock beyond 10nm (14-ish seems to be the limit in DCS), but If you follow the CASE III procedure, you'd set up for landing much closer. As @draconus mentioned, it's all in the Supercarrier manual. The localizer needle would already be close to the center once you intercept the final bearing (regardless if you're using TACAN, ILS or ACL input data). And in DCS, the Marshal radial and the final bearing frequently are the same. The glideslope needles would become centered much later, when you intercept the line at 1200 ft AGL / 6 nm (if you follow the procedure). Adding some pics (first one is from the Supercarrier manual, second one is from Chuck's Guide) to make it clearer, I hope: nullnull
  2. Works on my setup and haven't noticed anything different than before the patch. What exactly is not working? How far in the process are you encountering a problem? - is the data link to the carrier set correctly? You can use the Jester wheel to select the carrier as a DL host. Are the needles displaying correctly your flight path deviation once in LDG display mode and STEER CMD set to AWL? - gear down, flaps down, boards out, DLC on? Are you on (or close to) glide path? If so, can you see the ACL READY and A/P CPLR lights turn on after switching the autopilot to ACL mode?
  3. You don't have to enable the auto-throttle for ACLS. It goes much smoother with manual throttle control.
  4. The lights work with this cockpit mod: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3319621/ Probably with others too, but I have tested only with this one.
  5. Flappie, thanks for posting the solution! I hope it helps someone in the future. I used to have a similar issue with long loading times and thought it's because my PC is getting old. Then I've upgraded but kept the original windows drive and nothing changed. Finally I reformatted the partition and installed windows and everything from new, which solved all DCS issues I had before but wasted few days doing so...
  6. IMO we're lucky to have even the current WW2 modules. If the Corsair and the La-7 ever get released, even better. I'm enjoying my WW2 DCS experience while it lasts. This year there were multiple pleasant surprises for free: the Spitfire got cockpit textures refresh, the Dora got new sounds, there have been multiple updates to the core graphics, weather, the enlarged Normandy map, new landing gear mechanics...
  7. Imagine getting five flyable DCS WW2 aircraft + the Normandy map, all this for $40... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/508681281/dcs-wwii-europe-1944
  8. The wipers also work on the Gazelle.
  9. I didn't get any miles for the upgrade either.
  10. There are a bunch of SAM site assets (including SA-2 ones) in this mod:
  11. Some recent modules even went on 60% discount during the 15 year anniversary sale last summer: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/newsletters/2449f6e8d3d38d794c5728980ddb0e8b/
  13. My favorite mission to practice hovering in the Mi-8 and the Gazelle. Thank you!
  14. I believe IRL the color filters are applied in front of the TV camera. The TV monitor would still be monochrome with greenish tint, but some image features (that pass more easily through the filter) would be brighter, while others would be darker.
  15. The C-101 has decent performance if you take less fuel. It was designed for much longer range than the other two. The engine is also more fuel efficient.
  16. + one extra thing with the Su-33: you can use the auto-throttle during air refueling. Once it's on, you can increase/decrease airspeed in very small increments (1 km/h?) with the mapped key/button binds. Basically, if you get too far ahead, press the minus button to decrease the held speed, if you get too far back, press the plus button... A bit like car cruise control...
  17. The night dimming mode of the radar warning receiver indicator (SPO-10) doesn't dim the lights or color them red when enabled. This is observed with the multi-threading version of DCS (and default cockpit). See attached screen capture:
  18. From recent events...
  19. I believe the rule for manual tuning is to multiply the ILS freq. by two for the Detrola radio scale, so 220 in your example. You can also set it in the mission editor -- on the radio settings, set the BC-1206 Initial Frequency to the ILS frequency in MHz (110.0 in your example).
  20. If 1688 is used for the bombs, the Pave Penny laser spotter should also be set to it. Currently it works only when lasing with code 1113:
  21. The liveries (texture) size also affects RAM usage in game. Hop on a populated server and DCS RAM usage exceeds 30 GB even on maps like Caucasus and PG which otherwise have modest RAM usage in single player.
  22. Perhaps you could use the free 2 weeks trial to find out what they look like.
  23. This solution helped me with the same issue:

The radar on that picture is Cyrano II from Mirage IIIE, the label on it is wrong. Cyrano IV on F1 looks like this:
