That is a cocky landing!

Is it safe to assume that you have not yet learned how to dogfight in the mig after merely two days of it being available to fly?
-
Thanks for the early manual! Was able to print it out in full color and use it with the game yesterday. Very handy I must say :)
-
I tried it out before, training startup mission and had lower fps than usual. It was particularly noticable when the two hinds flew past and when I later came in for landing it was really stuttering. Evwn turned graphics to what I consider medium. 1680x1050, no AA. i5 2500K, 280X 3GB, 8GB RAM, SSD, Win7. Don't know about FFB settings.

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)
roob replied to rekoal's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Anyone using 21:9 monitors? Could you provide this thread with some screenshots in 2560x1080? I really want to buy one for DCS until Oculus Rift changes everything. But I'd like to know how it appears. (Preferably soem cockpit-shots ;)) -
3x 23" 1080p or 1x 27" 1440p + TIR
roob replied to JayPee's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
But how is the 21:9 support in the game? In options, at least I can't choose 21:9. Right now I only have a 16:10 monitor, but I'm really tempted buying a 21:9 for DCS... -
Also pre-purchased. Too bad you can't access the manual beforehand. I'd really like to print and read up on it in time for playday!

Couple of questions - simple ones...

The post-announcement wait is way worse than the wait for the announcement :(

Well played, Sir! That is exactly what I was looking for :)

Some years ago, when Flaming Cliffs was the hottest simulator out there, some guy made a document on how to create a basic cockpit out of some plywood sheets. I thought I had the schematics for it on my computer but it seems to have... mysteriously disappeared :music_whistling: There were platforms for your monitor in the top forward area and for the throttle and joystick at the sides... Does anyone have them? Or able to find it out in this here world wide web? Thought I'd do some 'manual labor' this autumn/winter :)

MS Sidewinder FFB 2 - Worth buying?
roob replied to WinterH's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's the best. But it kind of depends on what you are playing. It is essential for the Ka-50. And I wouldn't use it if you are left handed... -
Are you using the trim? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35444

He was only sending you a message which you didn't recieve. The solution is utilize its systems to reduce your workload but still fly the helicopter. Unlike modern commercial airliners, where you operate systems and fly the aircraft only when regulations tell you to.

Missiles are fun and certainly comparable, but F-15A compared to the DCS-available F-15C compared to MiG-21Bis: http://youtu.be/Ml3cKrUU0ME?t=4s :smartass:

What would be the best opponent for the MiG-21bis?
roob replied to Zakatak's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Draken was a fine piece of machinery! Yeah I get that! And seeing the 60% vote-rate on it I feel like a lot of people vote for that reason aswell :) It just doesn't seem like it would ever be a fair fight. Workload of one pilot versus two, or even worse, the DCS AI just seems unappealing. :music_whistling: -
What would be the best opponent for the MiG-21bis?
roob replied to Zakatak's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Ever since the MiG-21Bis was first announced, I have felt the need to battle it in the J-35 Draken (F or J version because - Bis). Delta wing versus delta wing, and also because Draken has the looks like that tiny guy you just don't wanna piss off. -
Is the ABRIS and radio frequency linked like that IRL too?

Haven't tried the Huey, but I have the Mi-8 and Ka-50. While the Mi-8 is fun to pass some time with, the Ka-50 really feels like the helicopter of helicopters. It's very versatile and extremely fun to fly once you get the hang of it. The campaign that comes with it is very well made and provides a broad range of mission types and gradually raises the bar in difficulty and complexity. And if you feel like taking it even further, there's a 20-mission campaign called Vergeevs Group that really puts your flying skills to the test. It costs a few bucks though and it's made for the original BS, but worked fine for me in BS2. I have yet to see a campaign as well made and thought out as that one, in any flight sim.

During mating scheashon, an Abramsch foeschefully triesch to mount a female IFV from behind. Asch femalesch are schcarsche in the crimean highlandsch, a rival Abrams turnsch hisch losch into an opportunity on the schtronger male. A third Abramsch, having already admitted defeat, yanksch hisch turret alone on the schideline... -
One day you'll look back at this post and laugh :smartass:

You are not using the trimmer as you are supposed to. Challenge accepted! :pilotfly: Posted a track. At the end I'm showing you the basics of the trimmer in action. I don't know about this analogy, but... just for the lulz. Definition controls: Stick, Rudder Imagine whenever you press the trim button, you take a photo of your controls. The controls in that photo are so awesome to the autopilot, it cannot stop looking at that one photo. It wants to be that photo, so it becomes that photo. You tell it to stop but it just sits there ignoring. That is because the autopilot talks to no one but the helicopter. The helicopter is the autopilot's master. You, on the other hand, are the helicopter's master. When you move the controls, the helicopter move the controls, but the autopilot does not.It is still daydreaming about that photo. So you slap (trim) the helicopter, tells it to show this new awesome photo to the autopilot. The helicopter obeys, and passes the photo along to the autopilot which yet again becomes completely awestruck. Explanation taken from the Ka-420 manual. I did not cover the altitude "trim" button (can't remember what it's called). Poledance.trk
