  1. That’s enough time for an interceptor that took off in East Germany to intercept any Aircraft send from West Germany though…..
  2. Relax, your gaming notebook has to cool away about 300Watts. That’s three classical 100W lightbulbs worth of heat. What do you expect? Pro tip: Don’t place it on your lap. Seriously though. make sure that you don’t block the venting. And of course, as usual, don’t expect the battery to get very old. You can run any monitoring software like hwinfo or so to monitor the temp of your cpu and gpu, but I assume they are fine. As stated above. The heat has to go somewhere…..
  3. Was there any word about a timeline for the release that I missed?
  4. Usually they are at fault though. Just empirical experience. Especially if they happen to use AVs and happen to not question them enough. Just scan the forum, as far as I'm aware, every incident so far eventually turned out to be a false positive (or maybe some inofficial third party mod).
  5. In theory yes. But realistically all of those tasks mentioned together won't even remotely put a single core to its limits. Eight cores still is plenty for DCS. All background apps included. The latency penalty for having two CCDs is real though. (even if minuscule). I wouldn't mind using either of those CPUs for DCS. And I would probably opt for the 9950X if I was to build a new system from scratch. But upgrading from 9800 to 9950? No. Also no, if budget considerations are to make.
  6. Just an anecdote. Due to the Defender update, my machine gave me a small heart attack the day before yesterday by suddenly flagging and blocking a severe "threat". Turns out the file it flagged was part of a Fan-utility that I installed and used ages ago and never caused any issues (still doesn't). Just another case of a frickin' false positive. The ONLY kind of "finds" Defender EVER produced for me. AVs really are a case of the "solution" being much worse than the "problem".......
  7. The "real"* memory usage should be shown in the performance tab in the windows task manager. *reserved that is ....scratch that - I'm not awake yet. You were talking about Video mem of course, sorry.....
  8. I would bet a fortune that there are no important performance differences. Keep in mind that only one CCD (8 cores) has access to the V-cache anyway. The additional CCD and cores only help with some productive appliances. The benchmarks that are release yet only show an advantage for the 9950 in 1080p here and there but only very very slim.
  9. About the same gaming performance as the 9800x3d, but more cores for productive applications that can utilize them. Just for DCS the 9800x3d would be the better value.
  10. ? Sure we can. Either I misunderstood you or I am confused. There are FFB-mods for all wide spread Pedals available.
  11. dito. Modules are not exactly life changing investments and Razbam makes/made great modules. Happy about the glimpse of hope!
  12. I didn't catch that it was a laptop. Of course that limits the performance. ...and the upgrade options.
  13. With your Setup GPU/CPU, 60 fps shouldn't be a problem. Since you already have an i9 CPU, I would rather go for GPU upgrade at first (if you can find any for a decent price that is)
  14. GPU is more important than CPU (generally speaking), but of course it depends on your settings and the situation. You definitely don’t want to be CPU bottlenecked all the time either. Currently a 8-core CPU is all you need (recommended 5800x3d to 9800 x3d). More cores won’t help you currently.
  16. Hey guys, this thread is getting a wrong spin. One it doesn’t deserve. I think we all agree that the OH-6 is a great contribution and we are all thankful for it. We can equally agree that Tobi has every right to move on AND keep his IP protected if he so desires. Let’s be double thankful for him to indicate that he will maintain the OH-6 in its current form and function. Don’t let us spoil this great topic with “what if”s or legal nitpicking or “what about”s……. please!
  17. You might wanna edit the title to make it clear what this is all about. At least correct the typo.
  18. Two weeks (tm) /irony it’s not scheduled yet. At least not publicly.
  19. Awesome! Thanks!
  20. The 101 is adorable and really rewarding. So I'd say it's absolutely worth it. Another plus of it is that you can get some "Airliner feeling" when you want to. Just make it heavy and suddenly you have to worry about runway length/take-off performance and the window between "to fast" and "stick shaker" becomes really slim on approach. So no more excessive power surplus in every situation like you get with most fight aircraft in DCS.
  21. 100% Agree. But there is one downside to the C-101. No Autopilot or attitude hold systems. Having the head a lot inside the cockpit trying to set up and figure out the systems can easily lead to loss of situational awareness and upset attitudes. Especially at night or in IFR conditions. So, basically what I'm saying is, the C-101 is learning IFR in difficult mode. If you want an easier time, use an Aicraft that at least can hold wings level and altitude on its own.
  22. Apart from the "single point of failure" problem (given, controller defects or problems at all are seldom), no. I don't think it will impact performance in any meaningful way. Not with modern random access speeds.
