Reshade is actually a nice software, that quietly sits in the back if unused without eating performance. And with a single keystroke does its thing. You CAN however get lost in the rabbit hole of turning to many knobs and adding too many filters…. and eventually, depending on what you are doing, it CAN add up to eating a couple of fps. My conclusion for reshade is „less is more“.

That depends strongly on what exactly you do with it. If you keep it light and only (e.g.) use basic color correction it is barely noticable. If you use more intrusive options like fake HDR or somthing like this, the main problem is that people tend to overdo it. The charming thing is that you can turn it on and off instantly and see changes in realtime. As I said, I mainly use it to compensate the atmospheric haze (sharpening+contrast) and de-saturate the whole game slightly. I'm not sure, but I would bet that there is a plug in to adjust singular base colors (green!) one by one. But I haven't tried such wizardry yet.

DCS completely freezes my PC, i can't play it anymore.

I would strongly recommend a mod manager. Deactiavte all mods before an update and then re-apply them after the successful update one by one. Way easier to manage and to troubleshoot. Also, an update may replace/remove modded files selectively (depending on if it were altered or additional files) - which can damage mods in surprising ways. -
Reshade to the rescue! I completely agree with most of the above, but personally I find DCS in general more on the lollipop side of the spectrum. But color perception is difficult to agree on and I‘m not the creator. So I don’t expect them to cater to my preferences. Feedback is given, and for the time being I adjust the colours via Reshade.

Seeking Former Military Pilots or CFIs for a DCS Project Collaboration
Hiob replied to DeltaChangoAlpha's topic in Chit-Chat
Well, you definitely sparked curiosity! Personally, I can't help you, since I'm not an actual aviator or anything related - but as a consumer, I will certainly keep an eye open for any progress of your project. Good Luck! -
I ordered a RTX 5090 FE...what have I done?

yeah, me neither usually, but I get tempted every now and then….. Anyhow, where were we? Ah, yes, bashing NviDiA….. -

Hiob replied to rapid's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I hope, that the next flagship card from AMD will be competitive. Even if it gives just 90% of the performance of the 5090 (well, the equivalent next gen card. I won’t upgrade from a 4090 to a 5090). I’m so done with Nvidia right now. Sick of companies turning evil once they built their empire with the customers they then proceed to kick to the curbs. -

Ah damn it…. I was prepared to sacrifice my first born for the summoning…. But getting off the couch…. I’d rather not…. -

lol We can't buy (afford) GPUs anymore - so we summon them..... -

While I totally agree with you on the sentiment, I admit that "expensive" lays in the eye of the beholder. -

Hiob replied to rapid's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Exactly! Upgrading every 5 years with a very expensive card (whatever relative level this means at the time) that lasts(!) is reasonable imho. Uprgrading every (other) year for a latest luxury card is bonkers for most regular people. (Still their choice though, I'm not hitting on anybody who does/did is. Just for me personally, it is bonkers) -

I have the feeling (and the hope), that the 4090 will be the successor to the holy 1080TI in regards to longevity, -

When you rank all GPUs by performance, the 4090 still comes in second place behind the 5090 which has a 20-30% uplift depending on the application. If the goal is maximizing performance, no matter the cost. Well. Do you NEED it? Probably not. -
I can't confirm that. Maybe not specific to FFB, but the control range scaling is way off in my perception. What I mean is, you pull mm on the stick with almost no resistance and immedietly reach 4+ Gs..... I can't really put a pin in the problem, but it doesn't feel right for me. But I don't blame the Devs, things like controls feeling (with and without FFB) is incredible difficult to nail and needs some tweaking over time. I'll be patient and see how it develops.
-
I stand corrected then. My bad. Maybe I should have distinguished between native FFB implementation (where the module creator of course can implement FFB feedback from the ground up) and "3rd Party enabled" effects. I'm a little biased towards the latter in my thinking, because there are a lot more of them usually.
-
No, because the telemetry on which the effect is based is Airspeed. (Meaning the speed your whole aircraft is moving through the atmosphere. Propwash isn't a variable that is exported (if it even exist in the sim)
-
Afaik, DCS makes a delta index and only downloads files that are changed to the previous version (which of course in the case of map updates are still huge in size and number) and flightsim maps happen to be vastly bigger than RPG maps..... So were exactly do you see room for improvement? De-install the modules and maps you aren't using beforehand and they won't be updated/downloaded. Et Voila.
-
Too little weight/inertia could also be the problem. In an earlier statement I said that the Corsair feels like a kite.... That's kind of what I meant with that. It's a testiment on how difficult it must be to tweak the "feel" of a flight model.
-
From my (very subjective, not backed by any deliberate testing or anything) pov, the issue is, that the control surfaces on the Corsair in its current (EA!) state are way to effective. You only need to pull the stick milimieters to pull 4+ Gs, and if you even glance at the pedals, the nose swings wildly..... So, while the relative movement of the ingame controls to the physical controls seem indeed not to far apart from other Warbirds, the effect of those inputs is too big I think.
-
-
Have you checked the audio options? Sound effects, comms, etc, can all be allocated to distinct audio devices. And frankly, DCS is pretty bad in figuring this out properly on its own.
-
Prima! Ja, die Phantom hat ein paar Special Options Settings, die nicht unbedingt selbsterklärend sind. (milde ausgedrückt)
