Can anyone get the Kiowa to work as JTAC and lase the tgt?

The Apache works well with the ground based JTAC but when trying to working with an airborne FAC with a laser, in this case the OH-58D Kiowa, I call him up and talk everything through and get "Laser On" and I fire a LOAL Hi Hellfire and then often get "Abort Abort Abort you have no permission" and he switches the laser off. Once I've had a laser stay on so I hit the first target but then he wouldn't lase the others even though he called "switch". Normally I get Abort on the first tgt. Mission attached. AFAC is on 133 MHz. Any thoughts gratefully received. AFAC Kiowa and Apache.miz

Works fine with default radar (incl Wurzburg) but only "clean" with these new radars, including the Bar Lock (my fav!) and the generic radar tower.

No, it doesn't. The bug is that it says "Clean" when it should see a bandit.

I've been reading Ed Macy's book "Hellfire" that details his time learning the Apache as well as flying it on ops (Highly recommended!) and he details practising in "the bag", including steady pick ups and hovering on IHADSS symbology alone. No PNVS, it's cheating. It was useful practice for landing in brown out conditions caused by dust etc. The first time he picked up to a hover and tried to hold it still, he managed 7 feet or so, IIRC. He thought he'd gone many times that distance. I'm impressed he wasn't upside down. Well I've been trying it. It's so difficult!! Have just tested in single player mode and all weights, including full fuel, Hellfires and rkts (over 8000 kg) at 20 degrees temp at Hama airbase and Radar Alt Hold worked every time. No attitude hold used. No trim applied. Stable enough to hover taxi into hangar.

I set the green radio preset to 118.25 in the Editor. However in game using SRS it showed only 118.00. I wonder if this explains the problems we've been having with presets? And when manually set to 118.250 (Kerman), it didn't work and SRS showed 118.205. So it doesn't transmit or receive. In short, both Preset and Manual mode are broken. Manual does work for numbers where the last digits are zero, eg 251.300.

The top label has a spelling mistake. The second letter should be the same at the first letter in the third row, i.e. a "B" in Russian. It currently reads as a different Russian letter, "myagkii znak".

My feeling (not sure) is that the initial lock is out of gun range and that's why he never fires even though I take it down to point blank and dead centre with no AZ or EL issues. He doesn't overcome the issue when we get within range. That would explain why he then fires if you take over and lock a tgt when closer.

I think one of the issues is that he says he is engaging many times. It would be more useful if he said why not?

Re the missing moving targets, I can't reproduce it offline so far. The server where I can hit online is ping 170 to me ... I wonder if that is enough to cause the misses?

Here is a full track file (very short). No seats are switched and no NVS used. Apache approaches supply column, kills 2x air defence with hellfire then switches to gun to kill trucks. George says "enagaging" many times from 1800m to 200m range and never fires. George and Gun.trk

I'm finding George can no longer use the gun at all. He reports it WAS'ed but cannot use it. I think he gets no range as he also always reports laser off when you WAS the gun. He also misses moving targets too much. Given that there's a contrast tracker in the bird, he should be able to hit.

I find radar alt works fine on its own but sometimes in conjunction with att hold it reports SAS Saturated, which might be realistic?

He does shoot but has a VERY restricted angle of fire. If you're not at the exact angle he doesn't shoot. The Mi-8 guy has much wider angles.
