  1. I do agree, I have a love hate relationship with my Trackir (5) and always have, it can be awkward and seems to have a personality of its own at times.... But I certainly wouldn't want to be without it.
  2. I don't really understand this? Am I right in thinking that you are so anti US that you won't buy anything labeled in $? You aren't technically paying dollars anyway if that is what you refuse to do, you are paying your own currency which is being converted into the Dollar equivalent for the sake of displaying a price everybody can understand as far as I can tell. The only problem I have ever encountered with buying from the US is that the banks, and credit card companies here in the UK will add a currency conversion charge. But that is when buying products from the US, I have no idea if it applies to digital downloads or even if you (op) are living in a country with a similar charge? It would be a shame to miss out on what looks like a spectacular product at any rate.
  3. I'm still torn, I've all but convinced myself I want the Gigabyte version, I'm just trying to decide if the 980 is worth the extra money as the difference in price is pretty large. Maybe a 970 with a view to add a second down the line would be a good idea given that EDGE supports multiple GPUs... I have the 680 also, it has performed admirably so far.
  4. Just go into the control options, look for "Trim up, Trim down, Trim left, Trim right" and set them to whichever control you would like to use for trim. I use the hat switch on my Thrustmaster warthog as it is the easiest switch to access. I use the D pad left and right for rudder trim.

    F-35 vs MIG-21

Beat me too it.. And I think I'd rather take three Mig 21s on from the cockpit of the f-35 than be one of the trio.
  6. I have just found a solution... Nvidia Shadowplay! Can't believe I have waited until now to try it. Barely any performance hit what so ever, and quality is perfectly fine for what I need. To think I was about to spend £200 on a new second SSD...
  7. Yeah, this is why I don't wear trousers.. trousers are so 1400's. :P Seriously though, I don't get this arguament, should we brush aside all of history and only model the newest stuff? The F-15 is over 40 years old, where does it begin and end? I'm happy that we are seeing a large variety of types and eras work their way into DCS, it seems many of us are. I can understand why some people aren't interested in the 40's stuff, but the modular nature of DCS world makes them very easy for the people that don't want it to avoid them.
  8. I'm still playing, but I suspect I will be playing a lot more once EDGE and a few of the new aircraft materialise.
  9. Huey for me.
  10. Very impressive indeed!!
  11. Disagree on most of what you said personally. Yes there are plenty of other WW2 sims about, but none at all that match the feeling I get every time I jump into DCS: P51D. That sim makes me feel like I am as close to flying the pony as I possibly can be (without a very big lottory win) I have loads of other sims, none offer anything even close to that feeling. As for your main theme, focus. Well DCS World is still very young, we are at the point where more and more aircraft are starting to appear, it may be a bit of a miss match at the moment but that will become less of a problem soon enough. I'm sure we will get much more theming also so that the various generations of aircraft will fit in with each other. This stuff takes time so we just need to be patient. Third party developers are a blessing IMO and have opened up a whole new potential for DCS, a simple glance at veao's road map should excite any flight sim fan, and with developers like Belsimtek and Leatherneck beside them they are off to a very good start. Long may it continue. I love DCS even as it is, with EDGE just around the corner, and the huge range of aircraft in development, it can only get better.
  12. You're not alone Vintovka, I have a 27" 1920 monitor also, spotting is near impossible. I'm sure it is being looked into.
  13. Sorry, I don't get this argument, we hear it a lot when people are complaining about trainers like the Tucano etc. DCS is a combat sim yes, but combat isn't simply about shooting things. A huge amount of it is logistics and training, I for one am really excited at the prospect of this side of war being playable. For me, the ability to come through the various training aircraft from the bottom up is very exciting. Having a wide range of aircraft is equally exciting for me, even as a fast jet fan mainly, I will by a wide range of aircraft. The refueler may not seem so exciting as some on the surface, but it will offer a new set of challenges for people that fancy the challenge. The beauty of DCS and its individual modules is that you can pick and choose. If all you want is attack aircraft, you aren't forced to pay for the other stuff, but people who do want more will be happy to have the option, Win win.
  14. I can't remember off by heart, I'll have to play around but I remember being frustrated by it a few times.
  15. Some functions aren't recognised in game from my experience, how are people getting around this?
  16. That's the problem, it is now at 43 MB/s since the defrag, no idea why. Playback was poor at 80, at 43 it is useless. I'm going to try a few different codecs later to see if they make a difference.
  17. Hi guys, I have been playing around with Dxtory this week in the hope of recording some DCS videos, my results have been less than pleasing while recording at 1920x1080. DCS world is installed on my SSD along with Windows and Origin, everything else is on my HDD which is a decent seagate barracuda 7200 1tb drive. The write speed last tested at 80 MB/sec which didn't give great results during recording. It would slow down the game some what, but during playback of the recorded footage it was so laggy that it was pretty much unwatchable. I ran a defrag hoping it would speed things up and tested my write speeds again, my SSD went up in speed but to my surprise.... Clearly this is why I'm getting laggy playback when recording to my HDD, it simply can't keep up. My SSD is much better going on the two quick tests I did, but it is only small which is why I don't want to record to it really. I have 61GB space remaining on the SSD, 314GB on the HDD so they aren't full. Does anybody have any idea why my HDD may be so slow? I turned off all other programs, even froze my Avast during testing. Or am I going to have to invest in a second larger SDD sooner than I hoped to dedicate to DCS and recordings? My specs... Core I7 3770k at 4.4GHZ EVGA GTX680 SC Asus Sabretooth Z77 motherboard 8GB Corsair XMS3 ram (1600MHz) Corsair Force 3 SSD Seagate Barracuda 1tb HDD I'm using the Lagarith lossless codec during recording, file sizes are generally large even for short recording sessions, I don't want to drop the resolution down but may have too. Any help speeding up my HDD appreciated, many thanks.
  18. I would buy it for sure, if only to get an accurate handling large aircraft. I like that DCS is very much branching out, while modern fighters are my thing, I'll buy everything that is made to a good standard within DCS. This includes all trainers which I have a fondness for.
  19. Do you have external tanks on when this roll takes place? Sometimes when I go into a fight it feels like I'm in an ice cream van... then I remember to jettison the tanks and all is good again.
  20. The P-51 is superb! I think most of the people who complain about WW2 stuff on this forum have clearly not tried it out. The only frustration for me is the AI opponents in those quick missions that just keep on flying no matter how many bullets you pour into them. The Pony itself is excellent. The only change I'd like to see at some point is better sounds.
  21. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet. Lately, if I start with the F-15c on the runway, only the left engine is running. The right engine is switched off. Haven't tried any of the other twin engined aircraft yet so I'm not sure if the problem is specifically with the Eagle. I'll play around tomorrow if need be.
  22. This might be a problem for a while, but no reason not to develop such aircraft. Eventually as more and more modules are developed, things will even out naturally.
  23. After reading up on the performance, I think I'm going to order the 970 also, with the possibility of adding another down the line.
