To completely disconnect the A/P you need to use the "Autopilot/Nosewheel Steering Disengage (Paddle) Switch". Look in the Options>>>Control menu and assign a button to it, if not done already. To be sure the A/P is disconnected, "A/P" should not be displayed as an advisory in the left DDI.

missing info Very low FPS in SC vicinity after recent patch.
Tusky replied to Amarok_73's topic in Bugs and Problems
Same here. I've got a 3080ti and it is still playable but FPS drop seems down to 30-40% of what it used to be. -
Unfortunately, without AWACS or datalink you have to rely on your onboard sensors (with all ther limitations) and your eyes. As simple as that... Generally, you should know in advance the general direction the adversaries are coming from so that you prepare accordingly (bearing, radar range, radar elevation, etc)

Thank you! Two ways of doing it: 1) Turn the TACAN volume OFF and the turn the TACAN ON 2) Turn the TACAN ON and then the volume OFF In both cases you should be able to hear the TACAN identifier a couple of times even if the volume know is OFF

@Flappie Any chance this issue will be taken into consideration for future correction?
-
True. In this case, you've got to open the mission with the Mission Editor and enable MAP view in the options.

If it's a dogfight, you are close to the target and within visual range and you should use your eyes. Keeping sight is the difficult part though...

If you select the unit in the F10 map and then press F7, you'll view the unit you've selected. Same goes for airplanes (F2), ships (F9) and airfields (F11).

More a nuisance than a game stopper but still...

Hi all! I noticed that when setting up the TACAN frequency and turning the equipment on (T/R), you can hear the TACAN station identification (Morse) code at least once or twice after volume is set to zero (full counter-clockwise). Anybody experiencing the same issue? Thank you!

Hi all! I would like to run some flight planning tests and I would like to know if anyone knows what the temperature lapse rate in DCS is. Is it an ISA lapse rate of about 2°C per 1000ft? Thank you!

It seems as if your altimeter Hg settings got modified (...altitude reading makes no sense...) and some form of A/P was engaged (reduced pitch authority). But as Razo+r said, without a track we will never know...

master caution lights up when on approach to landing?
Tusky replied to Joch1955's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Check if the HOME FUEL caution is displayed on the left DDI. It should be triggered if it's condition you are describing. -
Just happened to me in Akrotiri in the Aerobatics EU - Syria server while taxing to runway 10: blacked out twice and then the landing gear got damaged. The accelerometer's needle went up and down as if the plane was in a turbulence. 8 knots of wind at ground level and the problem started when the wind hit the aircraft as a crosswind... The aircraft has been out for a while and the problem is still there...

In addition to "click and hold", you can hold the switch until HSEL or CSEL apper on the UFC (depending if you wish to set heading or course); at that poinr you can input the desired heading/course using the numpad on the UFC and confirm with ENTER.

Might be useful to append two different tracks if possible. @BIGNEWY This seems like an internal issue rather than some personal opinion on light intensity...
-
I usually turn it off and then I turn it one click clockwise. I think the one click clockwise is still too bright for being the lowest setting and I would probably tune it down a touch...

My only tip (valid for all platform) is: join a virtual squadron. This will: 1) give you motivation and force you to fly on a regular basis 2) have people instructing you (if it's a good virtual squadron, they will have a training sillabus) and give you a feedback on your progress 3) Teach you how to fly and communicate with other people There are many groups out there flying F/A-18s out there and some are even specifically built around carrier ops.

RNAV totally showing wrong direction, distance correct
Tusky replied to gulredrel's topic in Bugs and Problems
@6S.Duke Have you managed to solve the issue internally? -
reported B/E Mag and BRA True (+ weird HUD Command Heading indicator)
Tusky replied to Tusky's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi Bignewy! I sent you a PM. Basically, it seems there is a correlation between the value indicating the heading of the aircraft (on top of the radar screen) and the value used as BRA: they share the same North reference (whether true or magnetic). If you confirm it is a True bearing, better to indicate it in the manual since is seems that the common understanding is that the B is a magnetic bearing. -
reported "BULL" not showing on HSI/DATA when A/A waypoint selected
Tusky replied to Tusky's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thank you Hog_No32! @BIGNEWY It seems that only an update of the manual is necessary. Maybe "BULL" is the name used in the missions that come with the module... -
reported "BULL" not showing on HSI/DATA when A/A waypoint selected
Tusky replied to Tusky's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thank you Marlan! Then it is only a matter of updating the manual: any waypoint denomination is inputed in the mission editor by the creator of the mission and not added "automatically" by the plane. -
Hi all! According to the DCS F/A-18 Manual (pag.338): "To make the corresponding waypoint an air-to-air waypoint, press pushbutton 2 (A/A WP) on the DATA subpage of the HSI; this will make the waypoint on the bullseye the selected air-to-air waypoint. Note that you may need to use the pushbuttons 12 and 13 at the HSI or HSI DATA subpage to change the current waypoint until the A/A waypoint is displayed. The DATA subpage of the HSI will display “BULLS” at the top of the display, and the HSI itself will display “BULLS” at the top right when the A/A waypoint is selected." In the picture below, waypoint #6 was selected as the A/A WP but "BULL" was neither displayed at the top of the DATA display not at the top right of the HSI. Three options: 1) the manual is wrong 2) something got broken 3) I'm doing something wrong Sometime back I remember seeing "BULL" though...

Hi all! Motivated by a post in the general F/A-18 section I've run a test and here is what I found.. Scenario (Picture 1+2) NTTR Map (magnetic variation about 12°E) Aircraft on the runway (Nellis 03R) B/E aligned with runway centerline at 5.3nm and selected as WYPT True bearing to B/E: 40° Mag bearing to B/E: 28° HSI + RADAR page Picture (3) WYPT: 28°/5.3 (magnetic) B/E: 208°/5.3 (magnetic reciprocal of WYPT) BRA: 39°/5.3 (true >>> mag+mvar >>> 28°+11°E) Question: shouldn't BRA be magnetic and be the same as WYPT? ------------------- Command Heading indicator - Speed 0kn (Picture 2 to 4) I noticed that when not moving on the runway (parking brake or brakes engaged), the Command Heading indicator on the HUD was way off to the left or sometimes jumping to the right and back to the left. As you can see, the WYPT indicator on the HSI correctly points upwards aligned with the aircraft... Command Heading indicator - Speed > 0kn (Picture 5) As soon as i started moving, the Command Heading moved right on my nose below the heading caret. ------------------- I'll add the mission, too. Thank you! P.S. Easy to reproduce but let me know if you need a track Test BRA.miz

P-825 (NAVY) defines two different angles: Target Aspect (TA) – Angle between BH [Bandit Heading] and the bearing from the bandit to the fighter (this is measured from the nose) Aspect Angle (AA) – Number of degrees from the BB [Bandit Bearing - LOS from the fighter] to BH [Bandit Heading] ; defines the number of degrees to the bandit’s six o’clock (this is measured from the tail) TA+AA =180° (meaning they are intercheangeable) Regarding the timelines in the P-825, those are tailored around the T-45 (subsonic aircraft) and are just exercises which give an the idea of what a timeline is. The naval aviators will be introduced to the ones built around their platform (and their assumed opponents) once in the fleet...
