Configure Warthog & try my basic playstation as part of the WAS. Have read the manual....probably need to read it another 50 times to sink in, but the tutorial videos make more sense after the manual. No cold start, get the controls mapped and try take off, nap of the earth local flight. Sadly I had an accident/fall a couple of days back and my throttle hand is bruised and painful, so I might need some beers anyway. Never been on a server but an earlier post where everyone else will be as hopeless as me sounds good fun. But to inflict a one armed noob on the others seems a bad idea. But whatever happens, I'll enjoy it! Davidrbarnette, thanks for starting the thread, nice to see none of us grew up and we can still have fun!

Going into retirement and this is the most immersive simulation of flying I can think of. Always wanted to be a pilot, colour blind.....bugger! So thank you to the ED team for letting me relax and enjoy something I've always loved.....sorry about all the planes I've wrecked along the way. Keep it up !

DCS UH-60 Blackhawk mod
flyingscotsman replied to Devil 505's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Excellent cockpit and model, THANK YOU. I'm finding it damages the blades very easily, i.e. slight roll left or right and it goes bang,.....I've busted it. But that'll probably be me making a mess of it. I have set pitch roll to 8 with a deadspot of 4 to calm it down, Collective 6 otherwise up and down like a yo yo IMHO it could do with a bit more tail rotor authority, my rudder input on the pedals is by the bootfull and it's not turning much. I'm NOT a qualified pilot, this just my opinion and this works for me.....love it! -
VR or not VR, that is the question!
flyingscotsman replied to Lee1's topic in New User Briefing Room
I looked at VR, hoping to get across before I was retired, however, I'm retired, no VR. It boiled down to too much expense, new pc, new VR unit. And in looking at utube and other sources about what some people who provide us with video's said. Quite a few said they liked VR....but after a time, they were using screens again. So...I got at 34" TV screens,(it fits the space!), Apparently a huge screen becomes bad for your eyes...In any case I'm ok with my decision, get what you can afford and some PC shops will let you try before you buy. My local shop now has a screen and a VR for people to try. Good luck -

THANK YOU, It's lovely -
That's lovely, thank you, had a fast climb to check out the clouds and was almost at low level before real life got in the way! Thats a really nice sim THANK YOU I had the good fortune to have 20 mins in a Eurofighter sim at Farnborough Airshow some years back, They had two, side by side for visitors to fly with. (I thought it looked like a game console than a cockpit.) Showing my age...eeee there's nothing like a million clocks and watches to scan! haha. Had a short briefing and figured out what was what fairly quickly,(Thanks to years of Flight Sims) my younger, would be pilot friend was struggling with basic 'where am I' and was getting a lot of help from the staff. My 'tutor' set me off on a low level course, follow the green line.....then left me to it after a few minutes, I did the course, came back and buzzed my companion who was plodding along on a short circuit, and still struggling....lol, (Old age and Treachery beats Youth and inexperience any day!) Our time was up! At least one of us was happy !

Red exclamation marks on Throttle and Rudder
flyingscotsman replied to Spandex's topic in Bugs and Problems
For what it's worth. I've had this with Throttle on the FW's. Did all the suggestions of clear the entries, restart, rebind etc. Didn't work. But then I disconnected my X-Box throttle that I have for views in MSFS2020, it was not showing as a device, I had deleted that catergory....fired up the sim and the throttle was having no problem. Hope this helps someone -
Thank you very much, Happy New year, I got this on Boxing day, lol a late but appreciated Christmas Present

The money's out the bank.....but I don't hear any rotors inbound.....only jokingThis is my retirement present from my wonderful wife. Never in the field of Apache Helicopters have such new aircraft been flown by such old pilots!

flyingscotsman replied to Dweeeeb's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Your Chinook is a masterpiece mate, just cos we’re too busy to read paperwork in our short “flying widow” it’s our problem to sort, have a habit of climb in fire whatever it is up and launch to squeeze as much enjoyment before the...”You’re dinner’s going cold. Thanks for your work -
I got hit by the top rear gunner of a Ju88 off Manston, but the cannon & guns made short work of it’s left engine and everyone bailed out, switching to external view, man my tail was in tatters! The damage looks so impressive..I won’t get so close in future

Got myself into a big hole, self inflicted as I ran out of time/speed/height while trying to move the safety cover with my mouse...not very safe eh. I like the reality...but agree the gear up/down may be best as we don’t have enough buttons to assign. I’ll go much further out to sea for the landing in future. Brilliant aircraft
