  1. As the HUD is a glass, I found that it is normal it can be affected by the sun under certain angle. And can be considered as a feature, as a real-life restraint. Annoying but accurate...
  2. Do you (not to a particular person) think that ED should give the clearance to Kinney without having some guaranty? Wags has well stated that errr. Wait, I just copy/paste his post: "A few comments after skimming this thread: 1- More so than ever, we carefully vet a third party developer that we partner with. We do not provide an official DCS development license lightly. Both myself and our studio director had long discussions with KI and we both believe that they are up to the task given their past experience, staff skill set, data / SME access, finances and professionalism. Over the years we have been approached by many "scammers", KI is certainly not one of them. 2- While we do not expect the F-35 systems to be 100% accurate, we don't expect them to be. I'm sorry to break the news, but several of the A-10C systems are missing and a few more I had to redesign due to sensitivity issues. However, we believe (like the A-10C), KI can provide a close proximity to the real aircraft to the "DCS level". I think many of you would be surprised just how much open source data there is on the F-35. 3- Rather than rush to judgement now, how about letting KI prove or disprove our confidence in them? As I like to say, the proof will be in the pudding. But well, in this particular case (F-35), haters will always hate... as well as optimists will always see the glass half-full...
  3. From the site: Dear IL-2 fans. On behalf of 1C:Maddox Games and Daidalos Team, we are pleased to present you the patch 4.12. The development of 4.12 patch took us once again much longer time to complete than expected. Our main focus this time was on delivering some of the most requested features plus AI & mission building improvements. Development was started by gathering a list of most requested features from several forums and trying to figure out what we can implement with our small team. This time we also included some visual improvements (in form of effects, textures & UI changes) instead of the usual simulation & realism tweaks only. And of course the patch would not be complete without few new flyable & AI planes. All of them our dear favorites that we've hoped to fly for the past decade or so. For example the Curtiss Hawk-75 external model was delivered to Maddox Games almost exactly ten years ago by a member of our team. Now ten years later it is time for the cockpit. So you can expect to see Beaufort cockpit in 2023 (or in two weeks). As with the previous patches we would like to ask the IL-2 community members to please report any relevant issues or errors we did not catch through our beta testing process. We will open new 4.12 debugging threads soon. Of course you can also use our DT email for the bug reports: daidalos.team@gmail.com We would like to thank all those who made their mirror servers available for the 4.12 patch download. Please note that Mission4Today download links are available for its registered members only. 4. Nice and wise words :thumbup: To Eagle13: Do you plan to create a sub-forum section along with the other 3rd parties?
  5. All entries already carved from initial announce thread:
  6. Kinney Interactive DCS F-35 Q/A Hi everybody, As Wags has started a thread releasing the official information that work has already begun on the development of the DCS: F-35 by Kinney Interactive (here), I've read many many reactions from the community. The subject of this thread is only a Q/A to the dev Eagle13. I don't want to see this thread polluted by negative (or positive) reactions concerning the level of fidelity/possible/not possible/... It's always a never ending story and the factual infos are always 'masked'. I want this thread an opportunity for the community to ask questions and the same opportunity to Eagle13 to answer them. So can we try to keep it clean/factual? (If moderators doesn't like the idea of the 'centralization' of data/infos, delete the thread) I begin the tour: That! By now, I wait and see what's coming. I hope K.I. will have enough cash ressources, talented coders and modelers to go to the goal. Just several questions to Eagle13: - Have you started the project long ago? (Because you seems to be quite confident in writing April (hope 2014 ;) as beta date) - The question submitted here above, from Pyroflash. Because yes, it seems to be incredible at the best that you can consider having enough ressources to code ans model accurately all what you've written on your website "The Lightning II’s systems, be it electric, hydraulic, fuel, navigation, or weapons, will be modeled in complete detail, following in the same high fidelity design philosophy as the DCS A-10 Warthog. " - Do you plan to create a subforum section in here, DCS Forum, like other 3rd parties have done? (That could improve community proximity) - Have you already a solution concerning Flight Control Computer management counteracting/regulating stick inputs,... vs pure aero calculation/model? - Do you plan to code AFM? That said (and asked), I just want to wish you good luck and good work. :thumbup: Thank you already for your answers.

  8. I'm reading this too with interest 'cause my landings are more or less 'crash controlled' style at the best :) It's the transition phase between translational and hover state that causes me the most trouble...
  9. :lol::lol: And Double :lol::lol::D You two made my day! Can't rep you :(
  10. I ticked EDGE. (Forgot to tick F/A-18 infos...) Anyway, as MTFDarkEagle wrote just above: "Any news is good "
  11. If O.R. comes to FullHD, I might get it into consideration. But, as Mnemonic has well demonstrated in his printscreens and photos, it's presently not suitable for DCS. I'm looking forward the 1080p version... But I'll not pave the way in buying it $$$ without tests and advises first.
  12. Impressive! Have you got this one in higher def? It would perfectly fit as wallpaper! :thumbup:
  13. Wow, seeing A-10 naked like that, it's like,... aviaporn :lol:
  14. With the upcoming AFM, no doubt... For the graphism, I still hope Wags can get the clearance to show us nice pics from EDGE/Nevada map soon, :dreaming: along with good news concerning stable framerate :dreaming:
  15. Whatever the engine running. A low poly mesh still a low poly mesh. A triangle (mountain) is a triangle... IRC, ED has previously stated that Crimea/Gerorgia theater as we have now will not be compliant with EDGE. The first terrain released along with this terrain rendering engine will be the Nevada map.
  16. 2 cores 1 for the SIM, A.I.,... 1 for the Sound engine. So, 4 cores is enough
  17. Surely count on its 1,200 m/s speed ability...
  18. Reflects well how the human mind can be determined in killing its neighborhood and its own offspring!
  19. I've seen months ago a documentary on youtube called 'Web of Secrecy: Black Widow II Declassified' Can't find it anymore on YT, anyway, it's downloadable (payware) on amazon (1.99$ for 1 day rental or 9.95$ to buy - it largely worth it in my opinion) Whatever. In this doc, it was stated that the yf-23 was much faster than the yf-22 but the yf-23 project had problem at crucial point. The yf-22 project took the lead. The eval commission chose the yf-22 because of two things: - The project was much (slightly) advanced in schedule than the yf-23 - Yf-22 has thrust vectoring and generally better handling capabilities and is more maneuverable.
  20. Flight Manual of the yf-23... HERE Interesting stuffs I.E.: Page 1-60: "At low speed, the control stick commands AoA. At high speed, the pitch axis is a G-command system. Full aft stick provides limit AoA or load factor depending on center of gravity and gross weight. At light gross weight, an angle of attack command limiter is employed. A high stick force gradient breakout allows exceeding limit load factor in an emergency" Page 1-121: There is a "Flutter Exciter Panel": "The control surfaces can be excited by three flutter modes. The flutter modes use program parameters to control surface oscillation"... Oh, and about the F-22, I've posted a while ago this interview... Deserve the read: http://www.ausairpower.net/API-Metz-Interview.html Title: JUST HOW GOOD IS THE F-22 RAPTOR? Carlo Kopp interviews F-22 Chief Test Pilot, Paul Metz
  21. (Fixed. Sorry, 'm out =====>)
