  1. I know how to use a search engine, but as NeedzWD40 said, this one is not legal and you should remove it ASAP. I found one 100% legal site that has a link to the doc. It is 100% legal because it is run by the US officials (.mil). However, if you click on that link, you wont get far. If you read further on that site and get to the distribution section you know why, cause it says: DOD stands for department of defense. So if the official source says that, you can be sure all internet links you may find are illegal.
  2. Not an expert on this topic so you are probably right.
  3. An additional pylon and the MWS sensors at the nose section are some hints
  4. After yesterdays status update in the mini-updates, I think you can start being optimistic. Based on this, I am guessing 3 or 4 more weeks. Think Wags will soon continue with the remaining mini-updates. When he does, you know: 2 more weeks
  5. Havn't watched your track yet but I also noticed that my bombs always dropped a bit short when using CCIP. Wasn't sure if it was just me being incompetent. Will try it on the weekend again.
  6. See below I was asking for a legal source. If there is none, I simply won't get it.
  7. Fully agree. We tested the UH-60 mod yesterday and while it is really awesome for a free mod, the flightmodel still has some issues that might frustrate beginners who can't differ if it was their fault when they crashed or just the flightmodel acting weird. The Huey on the other hand has a fully developed FM and is much more forgiving than the Hind or the Mi-8. Apart from that, the UH-1 is such a classic and a nice module, it belongs into every rotorheads collection. Just to learn flying helicopters, a good alternative for a beginner might also be the Ka-50. The coaxial rotor takes one axis away (peddals) that you have to care about during the first flights which helps a lot to learn the basics. However, you need to know how the autopilot channels work, otherwise you will always fight with them.
  8. In the user ratings someone said Alpha. So no point in purchasing it. Need to find another bedtime reading.
  9. Not a US citizen, but someone who wants to stay on the legal site. That's why I am asking for legal ways. If there are none, then I have 2 options: Buy the outdated 238-10 legally from the big web shop starting with an A or wait for EDs manual to be published. Question is: how much has changed after the 238 version? I guess too much to be worth it. So I have to wait for EDs manual.
  10. I just searched for effecive engagement ranges for the APFSDS rounds and somewhere I read (didn't store the link - will search for it again if I have the time) that the targetting computer of some tank (can't remember if it was the Leopard 2 or the Abrams) will actually refuse to compute a solution for shots over 3500m because of its low POK. So I guess this is more or less "correct as is" and the true problem here is the missing feedback that no valid solution was computed and the gun is reset to the minimum distance (as with the COAX). In SPAAA systems with radar like the Shilka or the Tunguska you get at least an "In Range" indication as a hint.
  11. So is there a legal way to get a copy of it for the Longbow? I mean you can find some download links if you search for it but I would rather stay on the legal site. Some popular web shops sell legal versions for the A but I couldn't find a legal D so far.
  12. Unless you encounter an emergency, it should be. At least it is this way in all other DCS choppers I fly (Mi-8, Mi-24, Ka-50, UH-1, UH-60). Don't know why the Apache should be an exception here since it is optimized to assist the pilot as much as possible. Regarding the TO question: Your setup is more than enough. The thing is that high quality equipment (incl. stick extension) makes it easier to learn controlling a helicopter, especially during a hover. But once you understood it and got some practice you can also fly it halfway decent with a simple playstation controller using the thumb-sticks. You can even take off and land without crashing just using the keyboard. But that is neither precise nor fun. Point is: You don't need any more special equipment for helicopters than you need for a full airplane setup (stick, paddels, thrust/collective). Higher quality equipment just make things easier and more enjoyable. That's all.
  13. When using the autopilot to follow a specified route, the gunsight starts to jitter heavily during direction changes. This does not happen while steering manually. I use the following setup: - stabilizers on - mouse axis mode on - platform shake off - autopilot on (set arbitrary route) Example tracks for autopilot and manual steering are attached. I also created a video that demonstrates the problem: To my knowledge it affects all vehicles but it is more noticeable when you have some sort of magnification. Hope you find the time to fix this bug since it would be really nice to command the AI to follow a road and just shoot everything while on the run. This is currently very hard to do due to the fact that the AI is more or less constantly steering to follow the road. Let me know if you need anything else. EDIT: (Yes I know i misspelt stabilizers in the video ) jitter_bug_autopilot.trk jitter_bug_manual.trk
  14. So from the description of Wags Video I got the following remaining TODOs: Combining this with the information from Casmos video about the current state ("some more time in the oven") I don't think we are looking at 31.03.2022. More like middle or end of February. But this is pure speculation of mine. I think the most problematic/relevant items are multicrew sync in MP and George as CPG. Those are absolutely necessary so that every player type (SP/MP) can enjoy the Apache. All other items are things that might be annoying if not completed at EA launch but certainly most of us (not all) won't bother too much if it will be patched in later. Maybe the cold start might also be relevant for the clicky-clicky players The footage looks amazing and I am really looking forward to crash into those nice rocks @1:58 in the preview video (South Atlantic???). Afterwards I will most certainly complain if there are missing system damage effects
  15. It was somewhat foreseeable. When they released their remaining TODOs list a few weeks ago I was already thinking that they still had a lot of items to finish and the time might not be enough. The missing mini-updates were also pointing into that direction. Would have been totally awesome to jump into the Longbow cockpit next week, but after waiting for more than 2 decades (1997 - Jane's Longbow 2) I think I can mange to wait some more weeks. Not that there aren't already enough aircrafts in my virtual hangar waiting to be mastered Probably a part of the new Syria expansion that was announced
  16. @Flappie I did some more testing today and it seems that all tanks with the Abrams being the exception are affected by this bug. Additionally, I found out that the "bug" only occurs if the lased target is farther away than 3500 meters. Below these ranges, the AP rounds hit as expected. Since this is the same behaviour as with the coax machine gun if you exceed 1200(???) meters, I guess it is just a maximum range number that needs to be tweaked. I can provide another track that demonstrates this, if you need it.
  17. The "dummy" release date on steam is the 26th of January but you shouldn't consider it to be carved in stone. My estimation is that we will get another delay if we don't see any new mini-updates this week. Using the Hind EA release as reference, we are still missing at least 5 mini-updates: cold start, takeoff, gun, rockets, hellfires. There are probably more thar I forgot. However, I don't know if missing mini-updates are a show stopper. So this is just an assumption of mine and not based on facts.
  18. In the video he says that you should induce a stall. Doesn't the FCS in the F-16 prevent that from happening unless you do some really violent maneuvering?
  19. Well, if you want to get it with pre-order savings, why don't you do it now? 50 bucks less you have to pay penalty interests for Also, if it enters early access, you will most likely (no guaranteess) still have a 20% early access discount.
  20. I hope that they can make it. I have reserved a full week of vacation for this release. So ED is in full control of when I actually get my work free time
  21. I have a discord account but I don't use it much. I can give you a short walkthrough if you are interested. I recently "trained" some of my buddies in the art of tank driving so I think I can show you some basics. CA is a nice tool to lure in some friends who have no natural interest in flying. We did it with one of our friends. Baught him CA and the Persian Gulf map during a sale so that he could participate in our regular Mission... Then I thought that he can also play as my Gunner and pre-ordered the Apache for him. Another friend gave him an old joystick and some Pedals... He recently baught the F-18 and Supercarrier moduled on its own and seems to have fun... All because we got him hooked with the nice CA module
  22. Have fun ... You can set routes on the map and activate the autopilot. This way you can focus on shooting
  23. While this makes sense, how do you know that the missile is actually defeated if you do not have eyes on it? It won't give you any RWR indication. In this case I think it is safer to turn off the jammer, isn't it?
