Avro Vulcan XH558 - Mod by T-Pap
FupDuck replied to T-Pap's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Wow I can't wait for this! One of the most beautiful planes ever made. Would love to see a Victor as well! -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
FupDuck replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
May I ask how you "mod out reflections"? Is there a file that can be edited for each plane? I thought that's what your mod was doing tbh. -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
FupDuck replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
This is interesting. I've been using this mod for a while now and always assumed that when I used it to make the glass transparent, it was also getting rid of reflections. But it's true, in the Ka-50, I still see the reflections too. So is that the case? The mod makes the glass 100% transparent, but still leaves reflections? I didn't think so, because in my Spitfire and other planes, I don't see reflections. Only seems to happen in the Ka-50. Curious! Thanks for the link to the Ka-50 reflections mod, by the way, installing it now! ETA I just wanted to add, this mod is incredible. Gets me from 32 fps and stuttering to an almost solid 45! -

Hmm I don't think it said that in the OP when I posted. It seems it was updated afterwards. -

2.7.0.5659 Open Beta - 05.05.2021 - VR crashes when playing
FupDuck replied to john_e_alarcon's topic in Game Crash
I actually ended up rolling back to 5118. I just played two hours with zero crashes. -
Well I finally figured this out and I thought I would share the solution here in case anyone else has the same problem. It turns out I could not lock on to ships because in the Gameplay menu, I had "game flight mode" and "game avionics mode" checked. When I unchecked these just now I was able to lock ships with no problem, both with radar and optical weapons. Yay! Can't wait to try out Rafale 003 when she's ready!

2.7.0.5659 Open Beta - 05.05.2021 - VR crashes when playing
FupDuck replied to john_e_alarcon's topic in Game Crash
Pretty much the exact same thing that's happening to me. Everything was fine on 5118 but since the latest update it's been crashing several times an hour. I disabled all mods and did a slow clean and repair, but it did not make a difference. -
Hi Lefuneste, I put the file in the Shaderfixes folder and activated the mod in OVGME so it was copied to the bin directory. I deactivated all other mods first just to be safe. I tried it first in the Ka-50 to make sure everything was properly installed. In the Ka-50, I was able to adjust the reflection of the cockpit from completely transparent (+0.000) to almost a mirror (+8.000). When I got in the Spitfire and tried the same method, it did not make any difference. +0.000 was the same as +8.000 in the cockpit reflections. So I think there is still something that is not quite right. If there's anything I can do to help you troubleshoot, please let me know. However, I know this is only one plane and you don't even own it, so I understand if you want to don't want to spend time on this. Thanks very much for your efforts so far, and the mod itself!
-
Doh! I just bought the Spitfire last week. I will have to wait for the next sale, but at least this makes it a easy decision about which place to buy next! I will still install the mod to add some more variety to the AI planes. Thanks again very much for these things that you do, I'm also very excited for Rafale 003!

Quest 2: Anyone tried AirLink yet
FupDuck replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Virtual Reality
This has been my experience with air link as well. Smooth for a few minutes, then a hard stutter, then a few seconds of what Netflix looks like when you have a bad connection. Then fine again for a few minutes... Wash rinse repeat. For now I have gone back to the link cable. Although I did try the latest VD with 120 Hz support, and was tickled to see three digits in the DCS framerate counter for the first time while in VR! It still micro stutters though... -
Quest 2: Anyone tried AirLink yet
FupDuck replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Virtual Reality
I have noticed issues where it runs perfectly fine for a few minutes (i.e. as good as link cable), then there will be a few seconds of stuttering and what Netflix looks like when you have a poor connection, then it goes back to normal. Wash rinse repeat. This doesn't happen using VD so I don't think it's my setup/networking. The headset is the only thing on the 5 GHz band and about a metre away from the router. For now, I'm sticking with the cable. -
May I ask what CAS is? And FWIW, I also can't say I notice much of a difference using different MSAA settings, but then I'm kinda new to all this and don't really know how much of a difference I should be seeing. Is it in your face different when it's working? Thanks!

Launching DCS Standalone with SteamVR on Quest 2 possible
FupDuck replied to 5ephir0th's topic in Virtual Reality
Can you please provide some more details? I've tried switching the API in the Skatezilla tool, but it still opens using oculus. If you could let me know which options you set and buttons you clicked I'd be very grateful. Thanks! -
Unfortunately it does not. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but like I said, I got myself focused on other stuff right now. Thanks again though!
-
Actually, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get it to launch in steam VR. I used skatezillas utility, and switched it to steam in there, but it still starts using the oculus API. I sometimes have better luck with steam games on virtual desktop, but then I lose the bandwidth and ASW I get over link. I also tried open composite, and same thing... Started in oculus. I've decided to put this on the backburner though as I am happy enough with my setup at the moment, and I also just bought a new plane which I am all giddy about . Thanks very much for checking in though, greatly appreciated! Regarding using OVGME, I did notice that it couldn't completely remove the mod. IIRC the dxdgi file created a temp directory somewhere in the bin folder that I had to go and manually delete.

Yup, I'm only seeing about 50 servers everytime I look, each with only one person. Not sure what to do!
