DCS World RTX3080Ti vs GTX1080 FPS Test
Double Dutch replied to SignorMagnifico's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thank you! I copied 95% of your settings and my fps is much lower... I am doing something wrong here (i-7700k RTX3080 Gaming). I do have 2 screens, perhaps I should turn the second one off and anything running in the background. -
CM3 Flaps Lever / Continuous Clicking Sound for P-51 Flaps
Double Dutch replied to Fakum's topic in VIRPIL Controls
You have to check how many inputs there are for the flaps full, half full. This is the tutorial I followed: -
CM3 Flaps Lever / Continuous Clicking Sound for P-51 Flaps
Double Dutch replied to Fakum's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Is it an option to axis multiple fases... like full is 100-80%, 3/4 flaps is 81-60%, etc? I think it is a standard option in the Virpil software and I know I used somewhere... haven't been flying much lately though. -
Hi, Does anyone know of good Ipad apps so you can control your UFC or MFD from an Ipad? Anyone tried this one? https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dcs-hornet-device/id1453256302 it has only 6 reviews so I am a bit hesitant (on the other hand it's very cheap)...

Where can you set this? Do you have to set this every time you fly?

Anyone tried virpil mounts on a desk with a short lip?
Double Dutch replied to Skwirl865's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I have them and can push them fully back, but if you tell me how far you can get them on your desk, I will try that for you and give you the result. I use 3, throttle (short mount), stick long mount (I use the curved extension) and mouse (short mount). -
I have Virpril controls. Will check if the register when pressed tonight

Hi, I have set de radar increase (right DDI-PB11) and radar decrease (right DDI - PB12) to a 5 way button joystick. The buttons work, they are linked to PB11 and 12, but when I use the button, the range doesn't change. Am I missing something here?

@naizarak PFFF I wanted to try the RWS-STT mode and the TWS mode and it was a disaster. Yes I did shoot lots of non fighting planes out of the sky but god is it hard to lock one. First: - I set the settings for the AMRAAM to SML - SML for shooting SU-25s - I fly towards them Left DDI AZ/EL (so I can see what height the locked plane is and keep my radar pointing at it), Right DDI A/A Radar en AMPCD on SA So I see several hostile (red) little diamonds. I mode my TDC to the closest and press it 2 times (first press is for LTWS) second it goes into STT mode. I see the Diamond on my HUD and fly towards it, approx 20 miles out. Issue here... it disappears on me (but I am flying straight for it, so my radar should find it?) It pops on my DDI again and I select it again (press the TDC 1 or 2 times). Sometimes it stays locked and I can get into range, sometimes it disappears again and I have to go through the motions again. - can't believe this is the way to go. After I fire my missile, I press undesignate and go for the next but by that time it's almost not BVR anymore. HELP!! I also have the idea that my HAFU's are all 3/4 size which means I means my radar is not responsible for the data???
-
Hi, this looks awesome! I am supernew, still learning to use the radar in BVR properly so please don't shoot me for the stupid questions I downloaded 3 zips, all containing a hornet folder, created a KNEEBOARD directory and copied the Hornet folders there and there is now 1 fFA-18C_hornet folder with 24 files. Is that correct?
-
Thank you! I tried that (so I was on the right way) but even clicking with the TDC on another spike didn't really result in another plane being locked.... I will try again tonight now I know how to do it.

I know in TWS, I was wondering how you select the next boogie when in STT
-
Ok, when you use STT, I sometimes have damaged, destroyed the first boogie, but don't know how to select the next one. If I slave my TDC to it and press it, even then it will still select the crashing boogie, while I want to select the next one that IS a danger asap.

I thought the missile went of, and then when it switches to TTG, it used it's own radar and I could select the next missile.

investigating Hornet's Slow-State Energy Bleed?
Double Dutch replied to wilbur81's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Hi, newby here. Still learning (and I need to learn a lot!!), for now I turn and indeed slow down a lot when turning. Are there like rules of thumb like: - speed to take with you into a battle (350+?) - min speed you wish to maintain during a turn? - more tips? -
I am trying to learn the ins and outs of the AMRAAM and I found it hard because after firing 1 missile (in STT) to lock the next plane. I just saw a grim reapers video and saw an example of ripple fire in TWS. - how do you lock the next plane in STT - since default radar setting voor AMRAAM when selecting is I assume that should be the way to go - you mostly flight multiple planes (2 or 4) so I assume TWS should be the way to go? I think I am missing something, I am using TDC to click the next target in STT but find it hard to select the next plane. Can someone explain how they do this?

Throttle radio button Volume/channels
Double Dutch replied to Double Dutch's topic in VIRPIL Controls
got it working!! Thank you!! (sorry for the late respons) -
Well... I tried to day... free flight, under 250 knots, gear out, flaps out.... but my E bracket is waaaaay down like 12-14 degrees down angle. I have no Idea if I have to trim nose up or down. Meanwhile in free flight my load out is not symmetrical, so my plane want to go to the left as well what I am trying to trim... grrrr What I do: Slow down by throttle, when I get under 250 knots, Gear out (for the E bracket) and flaps on full. But it looks like I am falling out of the sky....
-
@CBStu thank you... I will try that this evening!! Sounds easy to try and absolutely useful! Thanks! using your feedback for my nots. 14 pages of it already!
-
So when do you trim? You do your gear after the turn, how do you manage the parallel to runway flight and the 3,5G turn? That's where I am already fighting the plane Or is it, you set your speed according your (ICLS?) orange circle and if you lose your E-bracket, you just trim up or down?
