Nice work. But this will block the view a bit much. But probably a good solution to learn new aircrafts. Another great way to enjoy a Kneeboard within VR: Virtual Reality Kneeboard. Really a great tool to handle Kneeboards in VR. Enables the use of multiple Checklists, bookmarks and yep... Taking Notes with your Pen.

Ability to import waypoints from a file located on the player/client machine (MP). Would allow players to load their pre-planned waypoints done with external tools like CombatFlite. Would bridge the missing feature of a Data Cartridge and mission planner until ED releases their own one. Apparently loading waypoints is only possible for Ai units and Players. Not for MP Clients.

Awesome . Hope it works out. :pilotfly:

+1 Looking forward. Hope they release some news about it and talk about their concept. Are we just getting a more stable version or are we getting a realistic ATC simulation? Support for multiple runways, all the different channels, different approaches/formation landings and emergencies would be nice. And maybe a "hello" and "have a good day" from the tower from time to time would be nice. Maybe different voices incl. Couple female ones to make it more dynamic.

VRK - a virtual reality enabled kneeboard with touch and ink support
Gruman replied to AMVI_Rider's topic in DCS Modding
AFAIK, currently there is no Support for assigning normal Keystrokes as actions within VRK. You can only bind the Extension Buttons from Drawing Tablets. What are you trying to do with VRK, if you dont have a Windows Tablet or a drawing Tablet? The normal DCS Kneeboard cover all those functions you seek. You can use Kneeboard Manager to create every Kneeboard you desire. You can have them on the pilot leg or displayed floating in your vision. -

Look at VRK on your monitor. There are some icons that let you do all that. The Pen/Paper Icon will create an empty sheet to write stuff down PDF icons -> lets you import PDFs like checklists. Each import will create a new Tab. If you want to move the Tabs, right click them. But you need to manage/Edit your PDF outside of VRK. Gesendet von meinem SM-G965F mit Tapatalk -

Good to hear. What exactly are you trying to figure out? The Quick Start Guide is an excellent help. Press the PDF button to load up your checklists, 9-LineCard or whatever you want. Press the Tabs to switch between different loaded PDF's and the hand notes. Add Bookmarks whenever you need them. Let us know what exactly you are looking for. :smilewink: -
VRK - a virtual reality enabled kneeboard with touch and ink support

CV1 works with SteamVR?! Played SteamVR games back on my CV1 as well. Shouldnt be an issue. - Make sure you have installed SteamVR - Run SteamVR - Run VRK, put you headset on -> Recenter with your controllers -> You should see the kneeboard in front of you. Now to force DCS to use SteamVR instead of Oculus: --force_steam_VR (StartParameter. Add to your shortcut for dcs.exe within DCS_OpenBeta\BIN\... (NOT updater.exe!!) And you should be good to go. -

You are probably running DCS through Olculus Software, right? Sadly you will have to run DCS through SteamVR to enable it. Read through the Quick Start Guide one more time. It will give you the shortcut line you will have to use to run it with SteamVR. The Kneeboard is always visible. You can just start VRK, put the VR on your head. As long as you started SteamVR instead of Oculus you should find the Kneeboard floating in your Space. @AMVI_Rider Hey man. Just some feedback. Sadly I didnt had a chance to test with the surface yet. Will try to do that this weekend. If I may, this would be my "Nice to have" feature / Wishlist :D. - Night Mode -> If you fly in the night, the kneeboard will be way to bright. Could we have a button to dimm it? - Could we stow it away? I like to have it a bit larger (without zoom), but that can block some some instruments. Maybe a gesture to hide it? (Flip it, then it's gone :D) Since you are running a RIFT-S as well... Any tips for a optimal settings to use it with SteamVR? DCS in SteamVR is running worse than DCS in Oculus alone. -
You won't gain FPS, but you gain smoothness. You get SSD starting at 25$... So it should be a nobrainer. And once you have one for DCS, you will never want to go back... :pilotfly:
-
Yep. Get the extra RAM plus the SSD. I hope you reinstall Windows as well on that SSD, correct? ;) Whats your motherboard? Did you overclock your CPU (As you bought the K version...). Watercooled / AIO Cooler? As stated above, don't get the 2080. Maybe if you find a cheap second hand 2080 TI, otherwise I would invest in more SSD and get rid of that spinning HDD completly :P

This tool will do what you want. Not sure if its still supported or updated. Last commits on Github were done 2 Months ago. So give it a shot if you want. It allows you to start DCS with different graphic configurations. I think this is done by simply change out the lua file every time you select another profile. But yes, it would be great to a have the possibility to save different profiles and load them with a --parameter. But not another prestart window to select anything.

VRK - a virtual reality enabled kneeboard with touch and ink support
Gruman replied to AMVI_Rider's topic in DCS Modding
I think the WACOM Intuos M has a great size. Its a bit larger than an DIN A5 sheet. So basicly its the size of a kneeboard. Currently I have to find a good solution to have it strapped to my right leg, but that should work all right. Today I will receive my bluetooth USB adapter, so then I will see how the latency will be. Would be great if I can use it wireless. I think the retail price would be 199$, but I was able to purchase it for 150$ from my favorite online retailer. Don't ask me why. Only "drawback" was the wierd color "pistachio green" :megalol: Will try it tonight. I will let you know. Thanks for the added options to have the tabs on the right side  -
Wow, this topic has taken a turn for the worst. It has been a normal procedere for ED to have pre-purchase cheaper than the release price. It was stated numerous times, that the pre-order bonus will be removed when the Viper releases. They even reactivated the steam pre-order price and announced the exact release date. If you don't like pre-order / pre-release stuff, dont buy into them. Not sure why you making a fuss out of it.

Maybe try a VPN Service? Download speed won't be quick, but maybe you get the stuff through? Of course keep it legal, but a Flight Sim Download shouldnt be blocked... Is there a chinese DCS community? Maybe they have a Workarround for this?

VIRPIL. Simple. Compatible with Thrustmaster Warthog compatible Grips without extra work. Plus you can actually order the VIRPIL Gear and receive it within a reasonable timeframe. VKB apparently cannot provide this basic service. "Production Ready" products are sitting in the VKB pipeline since a lot longer than a year and they are very defensive about any ETA questions. I wouldnt bother.

Awesome. Looking forward for the planned updates :pilotfly:

I really enjoy the F-16c release. Sure, would be nice if more system would be online at the release, but its still a blast to fly. Looking forward for the following hotfixes: Jettison stores Basic damage System AirRefuel functional on all maps (SP&MP) Increased Backlight on the MFCD External Light Thank you ED.

Thanks for the tipps. Went with the WACOM Intous M. Should get it today. Will test it out :) Do you still need feedback on the Surface Aspect Ratio or did you enhance anything in the newest version? Thanks man -
Absolutly correct. And this was repeatedly statet by Wags and any newsletter at least weekly since the pre-order was available.:joystick: You can purchase other modules, gaining ED Miles (replacement for Bonus Ponits) and then use those to make the Viper a bit cheaper... Not less expensiv overall, but maybe a more effective use of money? :smartass:
-
You dont need any of them. If you really need the stable version, that would be DCS World 2.5 (Only required if you are flying on a MP Server which sticks to Stable version). Other than that, just keep the DCS World 2.5 OpenBeta Branch and enjoy the newest update every couple weeks (with a higher chance of bugs of course... But that basicly stated in the name of the branch :smartass:). So update to OpenBeta 2.5 and delete the other folders (or vice versa). Those files are to old to update from anyway. ;)

Easy to check. When you start Skazillas great tool, you can see the availablility of all the Servers. They all showed Offline for me before I added the firewall exemption. Hope this solves this issue :)
-
Had the same when using Skazillas Tool (GData false positive on the tool couple days prior, so network was blocked. Added the tool to the exceptions and the download started. Same can be done to dcs_updater.exe. Or just disable firewall for the time of download ;-)

VRK - a virtual reality enabled kneeboard with touch and ink support
Gruman replied to AMVI_Rider's topic in DCS Modding
Stupid question: Do you really need buttons on the touch panel or can this be done with gestures? Because there is also a WACOM One Tablet (Arround 50$), which is perfectly the size of a DIN A5 sheet. Would be perfect for a kneeboard. Otherwise I will just order the WACOM Intous S. Is the Bluetooth version laggier than USB within VRK? Thanks -
PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
Gruman replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Miles. I received the package 2 weeks ago, but dint really have the time to test it out. Yesterday, after the release of the F-16, I took PointCTRL on my first ride. After some hassle to get the Mouse Pointer onto my Field of View (I think my start location in DCS is wierd) it worked great. Little bit of getting used to, but its great. I think I have to make the active area a bit larger, so I can actually press menu buttons :). Thanks. I like a lot of the points of your list. 1) Improved cursor resolution. -> Yes please. 2) Aux VR headset mounted Push-buttons -> That would be nice. To be able to attach a small PCB to your Headset to enable stuff like NVG would be good. I assume the connectors on the PointCTRL is already prepared to enable two extension boards? How many buttons will they each provide? Does this need a Firmware Update or could we already play arround with this if we DIY some buttons? 3) Radial Virtual Buttons just outside your FOV for admin task ->That would mean we need STEAM VR running, right? Oculus doesnt support something like this. 4) Graphic user interface to simplify setup and calibration (VR Head Set specific pre-sets) Would be great. Largest hurdle I had to take. But would also mean the same as 3) (SteamVR) 5) Reduce size of FCU's (2 buttons only, 2/3rds the current length and 1/2 the height ) -> Especially important in regards to the Hornet Grip, which is quiet uncomfortable with the Finger Tracker. Maybe Touch Sensitive ones instead of clicky buttons? What about a glove with contacts at the finger tipps? Similiar concept is arround already. 6) Tactile touch panels. -> Whats that? :joystick: 7) Integrate VR headset movement so cursor is more fluid and does not move when you turn your head quickly. -> Would be a gamechanger. Even non PointCTRL Users would like this feature for Mouse Operation :pilotfly: 8 ) New HMS cortex processor and footprint allowing flat mounting to the face of VR headset. (Index frunk, Rift S) -> Yes, please. But that would mean we need to buy a new one:music_whistling: This would free up the camera on top of my RiftS. 9) DCS support for having the arm follow the cursor. -> IMHO not needed. Would just block the view. And without 3d tracking would look wierd. 10) 2 camera HMS version for 3d interaction -> 3d Interaction would make clicking buttons a lot more difficult... I think the 2d variant is great. Great work :)- 3421 replies
