Except when dynamic weather is active ;)

Should a carrier follow the assigned waypoints or should it always turn into the wind? If its always going against the wind, what about the coast/enemy territory? :smilewink: How are the scripts dealing with this? Are they using special launching and recovery cycles via radio communication? How do you guys reckon this should work?

I doubt the current engine with its terrain will make playable foot solders an enjoyable experience. Just think of CA with even slower movement ;). Any work on this would, IMHO, be a waste of ressources. DCS is simply not layed out for this. Would need an extra team, new animation would need to be created, more detailed damage model for the ground units, Netcode if an extra 50 guys run arround on the ground etc. ArmA, even on the smaller scale, would be a better choice. But it would certainly be awesome. Especially with helicopters it would be awesome to do hot LZ extractions without waiting the AI to stay arround, line up and get in one by one  And a more clearer topic name would have been better ;)

Probably not going to happen... But there is a mod in development... LINK :pilotfly:

Are there any hints by ED that there even will be a deck crew dooing any marshalling from spawn place to cats? The features mentioned in the news in August 19 states this: So marshalling via radio should be in. Alright. Great  So a static deck crew, placed manually by mission editors, for anything but the catapults? So here is the animated crew part. From this statement it appears only the catapults have animated and pathed deck crew. Or am I missing something here?

Not sure why you posting this in the Supercarrier Feature wishlist... Well, learn and enjoy your Viper. Great module and despite the early access status an enjoyable experience. With a bit of luck there will be a sale for the F14 in 2020.

DCS startup VR or any parameters and documentation??
Gruman replied to sycholic's topic in Virtual Reality
You mean like this? dcs.exe --force_enable_VR dcs.exe --force_disable_VR There is also one vor SteamVR: --force_steam_VR Only work, if the parameter is added to dcs.exe. Default shortcuts of DCS go to updater.exe, which wont work with those parameters. -
I hope we get the new S-3 rather sooner than later. Any news about it would be appreciated. The AI F/A-18E tanker is currently in development by SkateZilla. So a bit variety is covered :) Would be nice to be able to call the tower and start recovery operations / launch the tanker. This tanker should then automaticly fly the default orbit and move the orbit relative to the tanker movement until called off / completed recovery.

I'd like to have marshalling from the parkingspot to the catapults. Same as landing and beeing shown my way to the assigned parking spot (so I dont blow up because another pilot is spawning :megalol:) I don't really care for a penalty... Why? Because its not a thinking marshall. It would work with triggers, triggerzones, activations, conditions... So a lot of things that could simply go wrong. In those cases, I just want to move my plane to the catapult and launch. If it works, great immersion. If not, well, let me at least fly. But, I don't think it will happen. Especially with 14 (18 ) airframes on the deck, the place will be too crowded to have an automatic marshalling system. What I expect: Pilot: Requesting Startup Tower: Granted Requesting Pilot: Taxi to Cat Tower: Grants taxi to cat When you approach the catapult, the trigger will activate the animated deck crew. Will give you some pointers how to position the airframe. When you are ready, they will give the signal for the LaunchBar. Then some animation will be played, which you can follow and then you will salute (hopefully manually). Maybe we can select which cat we would like to go. Maybe it will be automatic. Maybe it won't even be defined... What happens if you screw up? Example: Taxi to far forward on the catapult? :helpsmilie:

When ED announced the carrier, Wags mentioned a Hornet Bundle. Since the carrier was delayed a couple years it was mentioned that owners of the (PreOrder?!) Hornet will receive a discount. If this is still planned... Who knows. Maybe. Why do you guys expect a "Full Module" Price? It's a 3d Model with 4 textures. Couple of animations. It's not a study sim carrier simulation module... I would be a bit dissapointed in a price higher than 30-40$ (Similiar to CA or WWII Pack). I will still buy it, but I understand anybody who declines. :music_whistling:

Sounds rather anoying to have to grab the VR Controllers just just salute, then throw down the VR Controller to grab the stick AFTER the launch. :P But yes, will be good if they change this. No more early launches because of a not perfect afterburner detent :D

Or just a checkbox in th axis tune menu under controls (for like all axis related controls). Most wont need it, but it allows for customization without ED needing to think about it.

The game has to detect the ownerstatus in any case. With or without a "dimished version", otherwise it couldnt decide to allow you to land... ;) And the graphical goodies can just be on a higher LOD (Level of Detail -> Cut / paste Operation). Arma 3 did a similiar thing to lock DLC items (Lower textures). You got a better idea? You prefer having two carriers next to each other? :smartass:

+1 I'm currently just using Frenchy's NVG Mod. Small Config change ED could make and everybody would be good to go.

All good points. Thanks Grimes for that analysis. I agree, all will come down to the price (would be nice to know this soon). What kind of offers will be available: Price PrePurchase Discount PrePurchase Hornet Owners Discount (I think this was mentioned before) PrePurchase Cat Owners (Unlikely) Hornet-SC Bundles Cat-SC Bundle I don't have a problem paying for quality. I'm more concerned about pilots not wanting to buy into another early access product and because of that reason splitting the community. I like Point 3(-4, since the communication was already partially introduced to the free stennis anyway). Let them use it as a platform in MP, but remove the graphical goodies (Deck Crew, Camera views). Limit the use in SP as well (Not placeable in the mission editor).

Looks like a great buttonbox for general use. Ideas: - "Bobber" switch looks a bit short. Maybe make that one longer? - Fuel Dump & Refuel Probe Switch? - AA/AG and Master Arm switch? Question: - Whats the purpose of the big connector at the front? Future extension?

VRK - a virtual reality enabled kneeboard with touch and ink support
Gruman replied to AMVI_Rider's topic in DCS Modding
Just checking... you did join the discord and run your rift s it with the newest VRK Release Candidate to run it witout SteamVR, right? :music_whistling: -
The NVG in the top is a mod to have the view more like monocle night vision tube. This mod is used by VR Pilots to get rid of the Full Screen Nightvision (its configurable to have a wider eclipse as well). The NVG, we have in DCS, are more like a wide eclipse and not a perfect circle. It's true, the basic form should be similiar to the second pic... but... they shouldnt block the whole view. In any case, the border should be a bit wider than in the first pic.. The whole view would only be blocked, if you have mounted the eyecup to the ANVIS. But this is usually not done for vehicles.

I think BoneDust was refering to "linking" those units to the Carrier, so their waypoints get moved when the carrier is moving. Currrently you need to use a script to have those units to update their waypoints every now and then. Btw, instant buy.

I do hope we get a new S-3 rather sooner than later. This old model will stand out way to much on the nice new carriers :D. Was probably already asked and answered before... but... If somebody won't /can't buy the carrier, will he still be able to fly on the same server? What can he use as a NOT-Owner? No landing permission? Bolter Calls and no successfull wire catch? Don't get me wrong. Instant buy for me, no question asked. But my wing had a couple of Viper lovers which were really in a hurry to never have to land the hornet ever again on a carrier... Those will not really be interested in buying a new carrier. But we still like to fly with them on the same server... :joystick:

Captoglove still looks like a mouse emulator with hand gestures... The "mousepointer" is always in the center of the screen. Basicly a 20$ fingermouse will do the same thing. The VRFree Gloves looks a lot more promising, but 650$ :megalol: PointCTRL works and it gets great direct support by a Miles and his small team of helpers.

Button recognized but no react ingame
Gruman replied to Patroffel's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
Yep, check UI Layer, Next, if you are using a Makro tool (Like Joy2Key or the VPC Software), make sure they run at least at the same level of priviledge as DCS -> Try to run the software as Admin just to make sure. -
SZS : F/A-18 Super Hornet Project
Gruman replied to SkateZilla's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
SkateZilla, this looks stunning. Great work. +1, buddy refueling from this gorgeous super hornet would be awesome. A huge visual improvement over the current S-3. :smilewink: And if/when ED releases the new S-3, the Super Hornet will still bring a welcome variation on the deck and in the air. -
Awesome mod. Installed and works great. VR and Night is finally more usable :)
