  1. Izlid is a must, my ODA used this with the APache's flying over head in Iraq in 2007. Nothing better to have them match Ir to Ir to confirm what we want them to destroy..... It was quickly figured out on the ground and down range this was the next best thing to aid radio comms with over head airframes. Be a real shame if we cant get this on this Airframe in dcs. Some seem confused about what the use is, the use is immense when in a urban environment at night like Baghdad which i have experience with. You can talk to the CPG and have the Gun immedietely put on our Ir laser pointing out some sh.. head on such and such roof top with rpg and a Rpk.... So Every Airframe we worked with had this Ability Including the Apache. Please ED reconsider this, Allot of great work with the Apache's over head via the IR pointer space happened and it was a huge game changer for us on the ground. Heck make it optional just like the ability of F16 carrying 4xHarms and NVG are optional in the Editor as well....

Folks we are all on the same side, it would be great to get to the bottom of this as what is changing what as if we find out exact we can exploit it more if it is a thing we can. dburne now that you mentioned it i feel flying over the trees is enhanced a bit its as if they are more full in a 3d realm if that makes any sense. Flying in nevada red flag for viper the mountains when flying high and looking down seemed to have more Geometry. Who knows maybe its the beer im drinking....

  4. Well to be fair yes skill level will alter detection range and supposedly accuracy of fire. Wags had posted something about Ai if i remember correctly may be in the Hind Faq area but may just be about damage model stuff. Night you have the best chance of sneaking up on Objectives, also make sure your exterior lights are off as that effects detection ranges in that regard. sorry to sound like a grumpy guss but been waiting long time for really good ground enhancements. Bottom paragraph ya goes over splash damage but talks about some cool tidbits of Ai behavior and damage
  5. Well since we are engaged through trees still not much can be done currently unless you fly a moonless night like the Apache should.
  6. I still like to know if somebody sees anything with oculus, sounds to me WMRand steam vr headsets had something screwy with profile and this fixed it for some…. I remember back in wmr Samsung odyssey days that tool ED put in for mis alignment of lenses when I messed with that I got a much more extreme 3d picture.
  7. Yup has been a problem in dcs since Blackshark beta, all we can do and have been doing is waiting for the new damage model and more importantly better terminal effects

Ya this is turning sci-fi, wish I could be certain it works in oculus, flying allot last night external cameras seem maybe more 3d but at this point whatever I’ll keep it setup with that profile. Vr should mimic reality not what we saw on 3d screens with 3dvision and this may be such a minor thing for some but others perceive it as huge change.
  9. I haven't noticed it, but I haven't looked for it either. If that's indeed the case, it makes no sense at all, since we have both view distance presets and sliders. Why not let people who struggle with FPS lower their settings, while keeping the distances the same (or even increasing them)? Noticed last night flying into Nellis, vegas has a mega LOD now. Im sure others do as well
  10. ya i use that 3dvr profile a fella provided and hooked both dcs exe's to it. Just unhooked those exes and did a test noticed no difference, then rehooked the exe's didnt see any difference. The vr in oculus is pretty 3d compared to the Samsung Odyssey and WMR. Maybe this just doesnt work with the Oculus Api which is fine, it seemed like maybe terrain looked more 3d yesterday but doing a test with it on and off no difference for me. Placebo for oculus on my end
  11. Can anybody comment if they are using oculus and see the effects? way people are reacting it seems its much more special than what im seeing in a quest 2.
  12. Im suprised the technicals havent been released yet, yes the whole ground game immersion needs to go up quite a few notches. This was all known well before the apache was a thing in dcs
  13. I imagine the effect is stronger and or weaker depending on folks IPD. But I’m no 3d scientist, but for those 3d scientists is there a way to enhance the effect further to taste?
  14. True stuff will tickle the brain for only a certain time frame, if you fly everyday it will fade but you stop for awhile and come back it will feel more 3d at that point again. Back in 3dvision days I was constantly adjusting for more depth and pop out in dcs. I think our brains just eventually get trained on the illusion, atleast that’s what it feels like to me after all the years of VR and 3d. This trick from this thread doesn’t make things pop like back in 3dvision days but what it did for me was make the terrain features seem real size and significant. Flying the viper around last night I could appreciate and notice it more in red flag in Nevada map. Maybe later I’ll turn off this trick and see how it feels and what is lost.
  15. ya lots of cool small details that enhance the immersion, just noticed in the Hind when shooting the Gun the front wind vane tabs all move from the muzzle gas

  17. Totally,, will help in engaging armor that properly uses defilade, Top attack is a thing and hope we get it eventually
  18. all i did was use nvidia inspector and delete the dcs exe from the digital combat profile, then load the profile provided by fella in this thread and add dcs exe's to that profile. Seem to work for me unless its all in my head
  19. Wow so with my quest 2 I see the more pronounced 3d effect. What really tells me it’s stronger is the tickle in the brain. Well done, and it’s not like crazy over done 3d like back when I flew on a 55 inch 3d tv in nvidia 3dvision. Need to go get shot at and see if the tracers are more pronounced in 3d like back in 3d days.

  21. So bought campaign as it looks amazing, I fired up mission 1 and sitting in the pit at 12 fps in vr with stutters, any other VR users able to run this campaign? May have to wait for the multi threading update on my end 8700k at 4.9ghz 1080ti 32gb ram. Quest 2.

  23. One thing that may help with the grids on the kneeboard page, have the 36S YB identifier in front of the grids. Other than that as a solo player the Blackhawks take off and leave you behind before any real startup is done or adding any of those points to tsd. Great mission otherwise certainly a multi ship op for sure.
