cannot reproduce Could there be a memory leak ?
rcjonessnp175 replied to MarcT-NL's topic in Bugs and Problems
Fixed by running medium textures and low terrain textures, no clue why it’s happening either but started since Apache released -
Technique is real, weather its valid these days is a debatable but it was taught and practiced wouldn't be in a manual, its doctrine, and back in those days that's all you had was practice day and night. That's like saying all the training folks get to take somebody down and break their neck, but go down range and never do it because the opportunity didn't dictate it, so now its not a valid technique and nobody does it... Its a tool in the tool box, its their when you need it. Anyway now I want to deep dive into the mi24 sighting system... so that's a plus

So here’s how my brain works maybe I’m wrong but your sight is the aim point for that missile. As documents state they use to have the aim point above target on launch and then bring it down to tgt. Sniper world we engage moving targets, we know range, size of target, and estimated speed. That with calculations gives us our lead in mil hold both for tracking and ambush techniques. I imagine maybe I’m wrong but with this sight in a mi24 and it’s reticle same sort of stuff can be achieved. I’m sure they took time of flight and distance into calculations in order to make “certain” shots possible. This using brain power and not some modern fancy computer. But hey I could be wrong but I don’t think I am and I bet crews did some really cool calculations and really making use of that sight for great success.

Lots of folks train to use certain techniques and never are given the chance to use them in anger. I would wager that if a former mi24 pilot was interviewed and was cleared to say so, many tricks of the trade would be exposed. Stuff doesn't get into a manual because its absolute non sense, its in a manual for a reason, its long vetting processes. But any ways

I say it makes operational sense, for example look at all the vehicle Fighting positions in Syria map, in Apache I constantly use hi profile for hellfire in order to top attack. Real world I imagine in Hind it be same sort of thing and from what has been said about techniques in a manual it sounds legit. Now I do think it may be a coding issue but doesn’t George do Hi profile with a hellfire?

Interesting, I just got back into the F18 and noticing at least Shore landing with turbulence the Flight control system is going bananas, Not sure if user error or not but Lots of Nose up and Down movement and seems the system cant keep up...

Ya I mean the VIPER and Hornet both have types of ECM that are not and can not be like the real thing.... if wishes were horse though I suppose

Don’t like realism go somewhere else and find entertainment. For allot of us growing up as kids first discovering those flight sims and just deep diving into them and the realism it lit a fire in us, did for me. Dcs is exactly that, now as a old fart post career it’s great to have a realistic combat flight sim in life again. Enjoy the struggle and enjoy the hard work it pays off, this is something the modern society has lost touched with in my opinion, that’s a deep rabbit hole…. Grumpy rant complete Ya I’ve been around since the begging too which doesn’t reflect in forum join date time. Blackshark and then Dcs have always drawn me as it’s a realistic combat sandbox I can do whatever with. Want simpler things in dcs well many above have explained many ways of keeping it simple stupid. Look at all the YouTubers for example, you have the hardcore realism folks with virtual units and then you have groups of friends just screwing around having fun in dcs. It’s all in the sim already you just have to find it and exploit it.

Well either way making Petro more human like with Gunnery maneuver's so to speak would be ideal.

BETTER 3d in VR (greater depth) !!!
rcjonessnp175 replied to pastranario3's topic in Virtual Reality
Same here all those Apaches and not optimized crushes frames right now. But flying around those buildings is a sight for sure -
everyone is cpu bound eventually in dcs, Multithreading will help allot in those situations. Shiny new cpu's cant solve a software problem
-
It’s the way dcs has been on heavy missions for years. Hence lots of us are excited by the upcoming upgrade to multi core engine. Until then heavy campaign missions are a struggle both 2d and VR
-
ok just recreated the issue put a small test mission together, ill provide track and the mission. So the way to recreate is use a tow missile from the Bradley once the Rotors are broken on the hind each hit from the 25mm causes more rotor blades to be produced falling off the hind Originally posted via discord Crom mi24damagetest.trk Mi24damagetest.miz PS Tested same scenario with the Apache and no issue

So Eagle Dynamics is no longer Russian company?!
rcjonessnp175 replied to Rick50's topic in Chit-Chat
I heard what wags had to say in that interview, it made me feel better but it also raised some more questions in my brain. If not russian owned or operated why is the Russian government preventing full fidelity modules and some systems, sure I know some may fall under ITAR and such but the everyday thing said in discord about such and such module russian side its always yup nope russia wont allow it statement is said. For example I would love a full fidelity Su-25 and the original enhanced systems that where suppose to come with Blackshark 3, or should say originally planned. Guess im clueless on how the dev stuff works but be cool to know. -
I’ve noticed with a out of trim AC it won’t work well once I trimmed, it worked fine.

I cant tell much of difference in medium in the pit it really helps in apache
-
If running textures at high with apache set to Medium and terrain to low, it helped sort all the weird stuff for me in VR and Apache

100 percent would like this

not planned IZLID (IR Zoom Laser Illuminator-Designator)
rcjonessnp175 replied to Sinclair_76's topic in Wish List
4x harms on our viper was not fleet wide either but we got the option via editor, Izlid was used on our Apache as I witnessed it down range in Iraq 2007. Posted in other thread. No excuse to not have this optional in my opinion. -
True indeed

Hey to be fair and have a open discussion, sure it may be a rant style post but I agree with allot said. Vr is a pain plain and simple in dcs, and at times patience is very tested waiting for improvements in the performance realm. For me I could plug my rifts back in and generally have pretty good performance but I think allot of us have seen how good things look with higher res headsets for example I currently run a Quest 2 and hard to go back to subpar readability and such. Fly over those big cities in Syria map and turn head left or right and yup stutter fest. I’m talking about roof top level here not cloud dancing.

Ya for Syria I’m doing most my scenarios in Iraq around H3, good performance out in the desert lol
