  1. I’m holding off judgement until the first weekend of January. I then plan to ask multiple pilots at the 76th Ops Desk Saturday morning when I meet with them to discuss the flying day their opinion on the HUD in DCS with pictures. personally I don’t recall having any issue seeing info in the HUD while performing Ops Checks over my career but I’ve also been in Production now for 5 years (meaning I run the flightline now). Then on Sunday I’m flying the A-10C simulator at Moody AFB, this will be my second time flying this simulator and I know for a fact that has zero issues seeing the entire HUD display. This also leads me to believe that if truly truncated in the real jet they would have the same in the simulator. Lastly the below picture Wags posted is not from the pilots eye view. That view would be looking up slightly from the level of my chest when I sit in the cockpit. This one is closer but IMO is a little higher than eye level.
  2. The flood lights aren’t that bright in the real aircraft either.
  3. LOL obviously you’ve never sat in a real A-10 cockpit with a comment like this.
  4. Traditional monitor view needs more than a slightly tweak. In the real jet with the HUD on I can see all the information without having to move my head around drastically as I do with the new cockpit model. VR is close but not exactly correct. Also it appears that the windscreen (and canopy) curvature is wrong now.
  5. I tried to stay away and out of this thread but I have to say something. I'm not saying nighthawk2174 (or his pilot references) are correct or incorrect but...... It means someone is wrong. Maybe Wag’s buddies or nighthawk2174 & habu. The big question is what makes one set of pilots opinions have more weight than another? Did Wag’s pilot references any data or do any testing or did they “feel” it’s correct? How many times in these very forums when someone said “I feel XYZ is incorrect” only for the response to be from ED was something like “without objective evidence we feel it’s correct as is.”? I know first hand my discussion with pilots in my Reserve unit (windmilling A-10 engine as one example) was dismissed as they’re wrong not to mention my own experience on the A-10 as a crew chief being disregarded because I didn't quote specific tech data references (flaps being lowered with no hydro power or the nose wheel turning to the side by itself with no hydraulic power). We've had multiple examples over the years where verified real world A-10 pilots and/or maintenance (crew chiefs & weapons) state things were incorrect only to be dismissed or flat out told they're wrong. So, my question to ED is why do pilots that feel something is correct when Wags asks them out way another person's pilot reference or validated by people with real world experience?

  14. Here is a video of one of my crew chiefs launching an A-10 last week. Click on "Show more" to see time stamps of what he is actually accomplishing. Any questions feel free to ask, enjoy.
  15. That’s interesting. So they’re using the suite 3ish A-10C modeled in DCS world when we’re actually upgrading our real jets to suite 9?
  16. Things modeled incorrectly in the pit, things labeled wrong.....bugs are always possible
  17. We use Jet A now ;)
  18. Honestly other priorities have caused this to be out on hold.
  19. It is kinda funny how often we hear the 3d model and textures are the “easy” part and the Vipers won’t be finished for EA.
