  1. Reshade is where its at. I only use the Levels filter and technicolor filter. Levels will help with how bright the whites are and how black the blacks are. Technicolor will saturate the colors and make them really pop.. Clarity is a good one too to bump the sharpness up if you want. you will get a few fps drop but its worth it for the far superior look! If you have a few fps to spare of course.
  2. I don’;t do aerobatics/ smoke but I notice this too with regular contrails from planes. They seem to dissipate much faster now and they kinda look like cheesy cotton ball puffs.I was hoping they would stay around longer with 2.8 updated clouds/weather. Real ones don’t fade away 1/8 mile behind the jet If true to life is the goal then they should be visible for a much longer period of time, or distance. My .02
  3. Hey now thats pretty cool!
  4. I use Nvidia, always have, probably always will.. but I agree vendor locking something like that shouldn’t be in dcs, for the community’s sake as a whole. I use diss on every game it’s available on but if FSR will give performance boosts across the board and across brands, that seems like the logical choice I know nothing about the technologies, but is it something a dev has to choose, one or the other? Or can both be implemented based on what system you have?( not at the same time obviously, like selecting one or the other). Do I want DLSS, of course… but is it the right choice over FSR thats compatible all around? Probably not.
  5. Same here, VR or Pancake, about 20-30 seconds to load all textures on Hoggit GAW
  6. I’m so new to helios I’m not even sure how to do that or where the patches are that helios is looking for
  7. Yup none of mine will install either. I reported on helios GitHub.. not sure if helios needs to update for 2.8 or if ed locking down the cockpit scripts so they fail IC in MP messed it all up
  8. Man that’s going to suck.. i modify all of my stroke defs to make my hud lines smaller since on an ultra wide (49”) screen they are fat and blurry( lack of proper widescreen support I’m guessing). Hopefully not too many servers implement this.
  9. Was just trying PG at night, lighting seems much improved. Did notice that the lighting is much brighter and easier to see at distance in external view than in cockpit. Was flying towards bandar abbas , prob 20 miles out and in cockpit you could just make out the city/ airfield, but switching to external view it was lit up like crazy.. Maybe thats how its always been? Like I said earlier I stay away from night ops mostly, due to the mfd export brightness annoyance.. It was a bit stormy in my quick mission and I noticed what seemed to be more noticeable turbulence flying around ... maybe my mind is playing tricks on me LOL I don’t recall noticing the constant subtle random movements .. flying in the f-16 fwiw —- very much welcomed if it was an effect of improved weather systems
  10. Makes sense. I had no idea, it was honest confusion lol
  11. I thought PG was an odd choice to introduce new lighting systems as well. I figured caucuses would have been the first pick since its the most played. I like PG and welcome the addition either way. Maybe its a good OB test on a map with lower player volume to get bugs out before making changes to others Personally I don’t play a lot of night/ evening missions since having exported mfd’s makes the in-cockpit ones abhorrently bright, even in night mode with brightness all the way down to the point you cant see the exported mfd’s . I’d love to see that fixed, but that has been an on-going thing for a long time
  12. 11:14 pm Thursday here, almost time for bed … hoping to wake up to some patch notes
  13. Ahh man! One more day ( hopefully) happy though, that ED cares about the quality of what they’re releasing!
  14. Sitting here… refresh… refresh….refresh… waiting anxiously… as soon as my truck warms up I have to go work. Oh the suspense just to read a change log!
  15. When you’re looking at the liberation GitHub page, click on actions at the top and will bring up a list of the changes made, click the one at the top/ most recent change and that is the most recent build. Scroll down and There will be a file to download near the bottom under the section “ artifacts”. You have to have a GitHub “ account” setup and be logged in to download the non-releases builds.
  16. Not stupid! It’s 100% true! Every patch, every “two weeks”!
  17. I was looking for usb-c Female to display port Male and no luck,, looks like you can go from male usb-c to display port Female in abundance, but not much for the other way.
  18. In my case there is latency on the touchscreen( on gauges and slight delay on control, but that is inherent to Helios. On the main screen its nice and smooth, and my mfd exports through helios are smooth as well with the refresh differences. I have fiddled with refresh with track IR since its a 120 hz camera and I don’t quite get 120 fps unless it in free flight up high. I capped the fps at 60 just for fun, and as someone mentioned in another post, it did seem to smooth out the tracking motion a little bit compared to it running at 120 and my fps being in the 85-90 range average. That being said, as you mentioned earlier I also notice a difference between 60 locked and the 90-100 fps range. My track ir isn’t jumpy or anything at normal fps but just not quite as smooth as when refresh is forced to a multiple. But I prefer the max fps for flight smoothness over the very slight synced smoothness in the head tracking. Its very possible that since your native refresh isn’t a direct multiple of the small monitors, that it could be an issue. I’m still wondering though, if there is possible latency from the usb hub and the monitors not being connected direct to the gpu, or individually connected to the mobo. Just a thought ( only based on previous posts I’ve read. Ive never had a usb monitor personally to test theories)
  19. I run a 49” ultra wide 5120x1440 @120hz and helios on a 24” 1920x1080 touchscreen @60 hz, track ir, and I don’t notice and any stuttering. Msaa at x2. Both monitor hooked up to gpu via display port.. I know its not the same setup but still differences in refresh.. silky smooth on 3080 around 90 fps on average with my settings. wondering how the mip monitors are hooked up to the pc? Are they usb-c connections? Are all three hooked into usb -c ports direct on the mobo or gpu? I seem to remember posts about usb monitors working best hooked direct to pc( not through a hub). Could you get adapters to run them straight off the 3090 DP ports? Wondering if its an “input lag” kind of scenario… i suppose output lag would be the right term Even though the effect seems to be on the main monitor.
  20. That’s me! Lol sitting close to 600 hours in dcs and I’ve never attempted AAR. Why? Because I don’t really want to. I don’t have the time/ or attention span to fly long enough missions to need it. Maybe someday when I run out of things to learn, practice or blow up
  21. And I just bought The Channel on the last sale oops LOL
  22. Check out vkb strong arm mounts. Thats what I use. Granted designed for vkb gear, but I have an Orion throttle attached to the vkb warthog throttle mount.. and well ,my stick is vkb . The strong arm, gunfighter long mount is also good for attaching the24” touchscreen for helios, behind the stick
  23. Was just about to post this same thing, I don’t usually fly night missions, but was in one that ended after sunset and wow, are the on-screen mfd’s annoyingly bright! Was flying a-10c2, mfd’s in night mode, symbology and brightness etc dimmed to where my exported mfd’s were just useable, and the on-screen mfd are quite literally almost blinding.
  24. It also does not close when using autostart, as of a few OB updates ago
