  1. Just for reference. On my setup {( in signature) using a 5120x1440 main screen and a 24” touchscreen for helios, with most settings maxed, nets me a good 85fps average. It really is a hard thing to give advice on. Everyone’s expectations are different. You can always change settings to meet graphics demands but dcs also needs to get the information in and out as quick as possible which the ram and ssd will help.. processor wise, dcs only runs on a single core, except for sound ( at the moment) so getting say a 24 core i9 -13900k for $700 just for dcs doesn't make sense. Yes its awesome, of course, but dcs wont use it. At least not yet. Hell my i7 11700k runs at about 9% while dcs is running and it’s under $300 now and 2 generations old already lol you don’t necessarily NEED the latest and greatest, just a well thought out somewhat upgradable setup imo. Unless you’re going for VR, then buy the most expensive best of everything and you’ll get a nice mediocre experience..LOL j/k….sort of ( dcs faults, not the hardware)
  2. Min 32 gigs ram, 64+ is better. No regular HDD , you want dcs on ssd or NVME drive(s). My dcs install alone is just under 500GB at the moment. Best processor and gpu you can afford. DCS really takes a beast to run great, especially on higher graphics settings. And VR…Ooh baby lets talk specs for a good experience with that lol DCS can of course be run on the system you have stated but I think it may struggle a bit, especially being installed on a standard HDD and lack of ram.
  3. Hmm interesting, guess I never paid much attention to the stable release versions
  4. I am on open beta, always have been The changes are good! Just saying it still needs a bit of ironing out still before its stable ready. I personally don’t care about any bugs, as long as it’s not unplayable. Nature of software development. I mean, I literally hated night missions and avoided them at all costs. Now’s I’ve flown more since 2.8 than I have in 5 years solely due to the lighting upgrades. Game is playing great for me!
  5. Hey that was a good run-down! Thanks for the quick read. Guess its something to tinker with.
  6. yes that could very much be true with BS3. It was odd to jump to 2.8.1 before 2.8.0 went stable.
  7. 2.8 still has its share of bugs to work out with loading textures, shadows, bit of a performance hit in some cases etc. There is some nice features like the lighting updates on PG and SA. Aside from some module updates. You aren’t missing anything really game changing at this stage. Still being worked through. Its not terrible by any means but I’d say its not quite where people would expect it to be.
  8. Mine is hit or miss, sometimes say in liberation or DCE on any given mission everything will load right in. Some missions will take a long time. In MP on say Flashpoint-Levant with a half full server, loading on to a carrier in the av8b takes a long time, every time, several ending in crashes. But I cannot reproduce the texture load issue otherwise, consistently, to point to an airframe, map, SP or MP. It was definitely not a thought in my mind in 2.7 The longest lag may have been 5-8seconds. But in 2.8 I have experienced up to 15-20seconds sometimes. Its usually quick enough that its not worrisome, but it is noticeably more across the board. Once they’re there, everything runs smooth as can be. I run world preload fairly high so I suppose that can be part of it too with the new clouds and calculations associated with them.. maybe Does posting a log file or track when it happens help anyone out? I don’t imagine this is something that can really be shown in that way. But if there’s any system info, logs, game logs etc to provide, I’m happy to share.
  9. No issues here, all seems normal
  10. I saw there is some default page filing going on, just not really sure how or why it help or hurts, and in what situation it would be beneficial. All of my drives are m.2 NVME, but since I don’t have any loading issues or crashes from memory allocation, then its probably not worth even fiddling with. I was just curious.
  11. No issues or problems, DCS runs just fine for me. I have 64 gigs ram @3600, j ust wondering if there’s any advantage to running any page filing when memory is not maxed out in the first place? Will dcs take advantage of it in any way, or is it pointless?
  12. Thank you for that insight. I do not know anything about running a public server, or private for that matter. My intent was not to recommend more workload necessarily. I don’t think the server admins should have to nitpick through every individual type of file by any means. Now I do like that thought of monitor exports and things being applied through saved games! I think you’re really on to something there! Thats a much better thought and solution than end users, like myself, just whining about it Don’t get me wrong I 100% agree with limiting cheating in every way possible. But throwing a blanket over the issue isn’t the right end-game in my opinion. I hope its just a start to something more in-depth that is being thought out more carefully. I do hope ED will take great consideration and empathize with us “exporters”/ sim pit builders etc and really work on a more practical solution for the long term, such as you have suggested. It’s hard for me to believe that there isn’t more than one person at ED that plays the game with helios, exports, multi monitor setup beyond the couple options in game or that uses a widescreen (that basically has to modify some core cockpit files to even make some modules playable), that all thought an option to block the game to vanilla was a great idea. Exporting from dcs has been around a long time. It’s very generous that ED does allow us to do things like that and supports the mod community the way it does. But one would think there has to be a better solution out there to not alienate the possible thousands of users that don’t want to cheat but want and crave the more immersive experience of a home cockpit or Helios, for example. Still bearing in mind that I don’t play MP a whole lot, but I still sympathize and advocate with all of the users than do, and some that play dcs exclusively in MP.
  13. I cant agree with you more @Se1ko. 100%bs for us who just export displays. There has to be a better way. Problems with people modding weapons? Cant those types of files be hidden/ encrypted so users don’t have access to them in the first place? Same goes with flight dynamics or anything that could be relevant to a cheat?.. or better yet revamp the ic system to allow servers more flexibility or to be able to exclude monitor configs and viewport exports etc. There seriously has to be a better way than to just say, nope its the base vanilla game or nothing. DCS has lots of bugs and quirks that I’ve learned to laugh off but this is one thing that is infuriating to me. Fix the root problem instead of just punishing the masses. I don’t even play MP that much, its the principle of it all.
  14. Thats true, I was just listing things to adjust lol
  15. Weird that worked lol I actually emptied them right after I did the update just to start fresh. Must have hiccuped on the first boot. Thanks Flappie!
  16. DCS won't even open after I updated today. I reverted helios patches, turned off everything in OVGME, ran full file integrity check through steam (nothing corrupt or missing), restarted multiple times. Not sure what to do now. I see an error with sa342 in the log, but I don't even own the sa342. dcs.log-20221216-182749.zip
  17. This right here. In some situations placing items higher up/ different orders in the export lua will make them function differently/ give them different priorities. I use dcs-ufc along side helios software and have no troubles.. WinWing simapp pro( not sure if thats what’s used for the mip) made my dcs kind of buggy and spiked the fps all over the place. I opted to just get rid of the code in the export lua and not run winwing software. Of course that may not work with mip and you would have to setup the displays and possibly binding manually. Just an idea.. Try re-arranging the order of the items in the export.lua. It could be that one app just needs to be first in line.
  18. @pet333r still love it the app! After the last update, though, the f-16 profile is skipping pages when cycling through. Out of the 8 or 9 pages its only cycling through 4 unless you get to a page that got skipped then cycle back one. But once you cycle forward again it continues skipping some. I calling forward cycling to the right and backward cycling left. I’m using buttons to cycle, not swipes. All other profiles seem correct. Just noticed this as I haven’t flow the f16 for a while
  19. You can use a program called re-shade to apply post rendering filters to dcs and tweak and tune at the cost of some fps, or, what I do now, go into nvidia control panel (if you have nvidia) go to the color/ brightness settings and tweak the contrast, gamma, and color vibrance, /you can really make dcs look full and rich . I run in game gamma on 2.1 or 2.2.
  20. i have noticed a severe lack of throttle control from the ai.
  21. same with jets sometimes. They seem to hit targets, if they actually respond to your commands. But their general flight logic is all jacked up! Randomly ejecting, even on final approach, harriers hovering over a ship deck the ejecting for no reason, flights coming back to bases after not even trying to attack their target then turning around and flying the waypoints all over again. Planes leaving their approach pattern next to an airfield and decide to go AAR last minute. May times flights will go to their ingress point and just turn around a RTB without even attempting to engage their targets. Sometimes they will only do one pass at their target and drop a single bomb out of 6, barely damage once, then decide to come home with almost a full load out. The Ai logic is something else, lemme tell ya
  22. So I just now hopped in dcs and opened the snapviews.lua and just popped in and out of an instant action mission and manually adjusted the “default view” FOV and got it so it’s at the preferred fov when starting up. Thanks for everyone’s tips! I never thought about going in and setting it myself. I feel like the RAlt-num0 should save that though, even though it doesn’t I think world view was the wrong term for me to use lol It was in fact just the zoom in/out slow for the “default view” in the general settings tab of each aircraft
  23. Sounds about right. RAlt+ num0 would always save the adjusted pilot view/ cockpit camera position for me, including that zoom/ fov ( when using rshift+rctrl+ \ or *) to the default view numpad 5… but it never saves the general world view zoom when you first spawn in. Its always zoomed out about as far as it can go. I have the view zoom slow function on a hat switch so its not a huge deal since I do adjust it in and out quite a bit. However it would be nice if it saved it at its most used position that I set. Now, I’m just using the general view zoom slow on that hat, equivalent of just pressing \ or * without any modifiers. That function is in the General section of controls in each aircraft so it may not be something you can save. I will have to dig through the snapview lua(s)and see if I can find that default fov and play around with the values.
  24. Helios new version released this morning vs1.6.55. The ka-50 patch issue was fixed, might be worth the update and a profile re-install to see if the issues were linked somehow.
