  1. Been flying on this map for several hours now and personally really like it. Yeah down low the textures aren’t as great as they could be, but what I notice is when I’m actually flying a mission , like in any other map, most of my time is focused on sensors and spotting targets, and using terrain for cover ( I mostly fly the a-10). Its easy to nitpick every little detail of weird texture overlays, lower quality texture maps etc, when just flying around looking at the map. When in combat the reality is all of that goes right out of the window. I personally don’t notice any of the “ faults” the map has one bit. The biggest faults for me are the man made ones like tree groups just sharply ending in a perfect line without getting more sparse at the transitions to areas without trees, such as near mountain peaks. Water lines on lakes and ponds seem a little too distinct( I know nothing about coding so I haven’t the slightest clue how a water line could blend in better). And the general game engine issues such as the extremely close bubble for full texture pop-in on buildings and trees and other objects( not raz-bams fault at all). I get good performance on the map, but due to the massive scale I think it will be tough to populate densely and in very high res without the DCS game engine/ multithreading overhaul. I do appreciate that raz-bam was VERY clear and forthcoming on the state of the map. Recognizing and stating things like the textures at low altitudes, odd terrain maps from the satellite overlay etc. There were no secrets held back before release. I personally feel the playability the map brings is far more important. From carrier ops/ naval operations, to wide open areas with no cover, to very mountainous terrain with lots of hiding spots for enemies, I think it brings a lot to the table. My favorite part, is its not 2million square kilometers of sand lol I think its a great layout for mission designers and eventually dynamic campaigns, for all eras of fighters to enjoy. Yes there is work to be done for sure but I think its off to a very good start. As of now my only complaint would be severe lack of air fields. I understand that In real life there’s probably not that many air-bases and airports in some areas but also this IS still a game, not real life. For the a-10/su-25/harrier/ heli guys/gals, It would be nice to see many more airfields around the mainland. Taking off and flying 150NM to the nearest target in an a-10 pretty much sucks lol Its even pushing things if you want to fly CAS in a well equipped f-16. Spending 2 hours flying in straight lines for 15 minutes of actual interaction is as real enjoyment killer for someone like me. Don’t get me wrong, I love the intricate detail and SIM aspect to DCS, I definitely don’t want it to ever be “arcade-ish” but maps still need good flow. AAR aside, if I fly to a target 100+nm away out in the middle of the mountains, and lose an engine, or sustain enough damage to need repaired, the mission is pretty much over, nowhere to divert and repair, or re-arm, just call it quits and start over again. I don’t fly helis, but I could see their experience being even worse. All the airports are in the flat-ish open areas, no great way for them to experience the real terrain of the mainland without flying for a massive amount of time, and maybe having enough fuel to make it back across the map to base. Or if damaged, no way to divert somewhere closer to repair. I know there is a lot of people that like these theaters to be as true to life as possible, but IMO without more airbases , the majority of this map is a huge waste. I’d bet the majority of players don’t like to fly from a carrier or base, AAR , and carry on a mission for 4 hours just to drop a single bomb then AAR again just to make it home (Obviously I exaggerated). All in all I things it’s a great start and if kept up will be an amazing theater all around.
  2. Still have to adjust gain/level/bright/contrast for the given amount of light, shadows, distance from target etc. the picture won’t be flawless 100% of the time, but the fact you can actually distinguish the vehicles from the ground, and pickup heat signatures of something as small as infantry, makes a world of difference in my book.
  3. Haven’t tried night or vr. Only had a quick minute to play, but day time is very much Improved
  4. The new FLIR tweaks in this OB update are spot on! That is all!
  5. You are correct. Mine is the same way, the a-10 displays seem larger than the f-16 and 18, I had to just scale down the mfd size until the a-10 fit as good as it could without making the others too small. The buttons don’t line up still, but you get used to it after a bit.
  6. In the section of the forum below this under multi-display bugs, there is a tutorial on setting up mfd’s on a separate screen.( first post pinned at the top) I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on a single screen. You are essentially just inputting the coordinates for location and size you want the main screen and mfd’s to be. Its based on total screen size in pixels, coordinates are also in pixels for x and y positions. I don’t think it cares one bit if you just one gigantic screen or multiple screens.. there’s a guide farther down about exporting other viewports to screens as well. A lot of sim-pit guys will have one big screen behind their controls and all of the gauges and displays just positioned in the correct space. I use a 49” but mfd’s on a separate screen with a pair of mfd cougars and followed that guide and it works great, its very easy to do, but follow it exactly. And right at the end you need to uncheck full screen mode in dcs settings.
  7. Yup it will deviate due to wind direction. If standing still on the ground and its off, center track ir and pause track ir, the use a combination of r-shift+r-ctrl and thte numberpad keys and the \ and * to change the “ pilot view position” ( different from zoom in and out) get the hud placement where you want it then use r-alt+ numberpad 0 to save that position as the default view ( same for all aircraft). Then if your view point gets skewed for some reason, pressing numberpad 5 will go back to the default view. Be aware that changing the pilot view zoom will affect the overall zoom level some, the farther in you go with pilot view, to see more of the hud, the less you will be able to zoom out overall.
  8. They are, or were on sale on steam for the 35%b off. Believe it ends today may 29, you had to click on either the f14 or f18 and it would show the bundles and sale prices. It didn’t show them directly on the store page.
  9. At least on steam, even if you own 1 of the two bundle items, you still get the sale price on the one you don’t have. The f14 and 18 bundle is $109 (35% off) . I already own the f18 but there’s a separate option to buy the f14”bundle” without the f18 for $51.99, still 35% off. Still the same deal. Same with the super carrier bundle.. I can’t say if its the same on standalone or not, but on steam you still get 35% off the items you don’t own already.
  10. That is correct . Been on steam open beta for years. In saved games it is simply DCS, not DCS.openbeta
  11. MFG’s are awesome, very smooth and precise and multiple choices of footrests. They are a little tippy by design when you start putting your feet on them. Once your feet are in position they stay and don’t feel tippy even when going to full deflection. If you are the type that doesn’t keep your feet on the rudders all the time, then making a wider base( at least at the rear of them) or having them mounted solid to a stand or pit is the way. Mine sit on carpet under my desk and I just used sticky back Velcro on the bottom ( non-fuzzy, male side…not sure what the proper Velcro term is) and they stay put just fine without being supported against the wall. Never used the tpr’s but I would for certain buy the crosswinds over and over. Just one mans opinion.
  12. Increase max draw distance range, maybe on a slider in settings. Extreme is okay but at least double or triple that would be nice as an option for those with systems that can handle it. Increase full res rendering bubble, also on a slider maybe, out to maybe 1-2NM , again so those ground pounders with systems that can handle it can get the best quality they can handle. Full res Texture pop-in right around the aircraft is horrendously too close imo. Not something younotice up high but for heli/ a-10 its quite annoying, maybe distracting is a better word, once you start to notice it
  13. My Orion 1 needed a drop of oil on the detent balls in the base, one side was very tough to move past the detents. Lubed them up and now they are noticeable but very smooth to push past. Calibrate with software at least once for proper end points. The Orion 1 also has the aft/ off switches at the very far end of travel, not when it passes the aft detent. If you run the software while using it, i believe you could setup the position you want it to activate, if you don’t use the software in real time, I think you will be stuck using the switches. I just chose not to use the app at all because I noticed a bit of performance hit from the line it writes in the export.lua.
  14. Being able to change wingman load out from runway/ramp using comms menu would be handy also. Just as you do using, comms-f8-f1 for your own aircraft.
  15. Been running Win 11 since release and no issues at all… except when trying oculus vr.. oculus app isn’t “ win 11 compatible” yet.. there’s some workarounds but I don’t mess with it as I prefer 2d for DCS
  16. Maybe if each page had a small selection menu to be able to jump to whichever page you want. Like a small toolbar?
  17. No worries, 100% not a big deal! The app as a whole is a game changer as far as I’m concerned. Again, great job!
  18. Up above a couple posts, the way Draconus shows to do its will move it left instead of down. I prefer moving left because of my ultra wide monitor, but down works just as good
  19. Also in the most recent video wags posted. When he pops into ME.. its there for all of us to drool over and wonder. My wishful vote is for intentional tease, not an oversight ! Even if it won’t produce a full blow war right away, I’d be 100% content if it made smaller campaigns to start out. Kind of like liberation’s short ones. Anything varying that seems to have a goal or purpose. Not just flop a bunch of objects down at random, that’s called practice
  20. I’ve noticed a performance increase as well. Seems like around the 10-15% range fps wise on 5120x1440 monitor with mostly high settings and draw at extreme. Even with track ir running, reshade turned on and DCS UFC app running through the export.lua file, on a free flight I’m easily hitting the 100-120 fps range( i have fps capped at 120 in nvidia control), 90-95 over dense cities and forests, compared to 95-105 and 75-85 over cities previous to recent OB update. But as others have stated it seems the pop-in is worse, the bubble right below and in the small area around the aircraft is much more noticeable. Especially the shadows on trees flickering horrendously when looking around with track ir, at least on mine it does. Not a big deal up high but at low altitudes its pretty annoying. I’d be perfectly content with lower fps if could push the draw distance out to about double what it is and the expand the max rendering bubble(not sure what to call it) out to about 1 one 2 NM , not 40 feet around the aircraft LOL Having those things adjustable in the UI would be great!
  21. Like I said I’m a dummy with ovgme LOL seems like every tutorial I tried to watch kept saying to point to saved games folder, but now I know
  22. Thanks again, got it to work! I didn't realize that I had to make another ovgme profile that pointed to the root folder for DCS not just the saved games one that I had setup. But all is good!
  23. Sounds simple enough… in the folder I create for OVGME, I use the modified ViewportHandling.lua correct? Make a copy of the lua file. Place it in the folder, then modify it? All I do is comment out the general render line so the cockpit mfd’s turn off on screen I have no other viewport exports or anything like that. I’m assuming it has to have the exact same name? I guess I’m a little confused as to how/if ovgme and dcs knows to use the newly created/ modded viewporthandling.lua, and not the old one. I get it when Its adding a mod such as sound file, an aircraft etc.. but I haven’t seen anyone use it to disable / replace an existing file ( or turn it on and off rather). I don’t really care how it works as long as it does, I suppose. I Will give it a shot! Thank for the tip! MP is the reason I thought of using ovgme, just to be able to switch it on and off a little quicker. I have all of my modified .lua files opened in notepad++ when I open it, so its not hard to just change it back and forth, but I thought the ovgme route might be more convenient.
  24. Just installed this today…Awesome! Now I gotta figure out mounting the tablet next to my mfd’s! Everything seems to work good on a-10, f-16 and f-18! On the f-18 ufc the rotary knobs that change the comm presets only rotate, they don’t seem to click to select radio 1 or 2 . In the cockpit these rotary’s also pull to select which radio to use.. not a deal breaker but would be nice just so there’s absolutely no interaction with the on screen ufc I’ve been programming my stream deck for god knows how long for each plane for the functions this app has. And that flat sucks! I didn’t notice any fps hit either. If there is its only a few frames. It would be nice to be able to select the order the screens are in to prioritize,( mostly on the a-10) but having the ufc/icp, cdu and radio controls on a touchscreen is so handy! Thanks a million to pet333r!!
  25. Anyone happen to know if you can or how to do this with OVGME? I’m a dummy with it.. can you put the modified .lua file by itself in ovgme and turn it on and off?
