I´m always doing very small right corrections and anticipating my touchdown point by placing the velocity vector on the crotch when in the groove. it´s a good technique in you opinion/expertise? It works for me and learned it from several sources (reading but from pilot podcasts mainly) but i don´t really know if it´s correct. Thank you.

The Hornet is my number 1 (i love carrier ops since childhood) but i started to learn the Viper to learn different/new procedures and that´s why i think i mixed the info i posted here. I learned to use the speedbrakes on the Viper on the approach (downwind, and they only open 60º then when wow they extend to 63º i think), in the Hornet i use the speedbrakes on the break (boat, then when get dirty the speedbrake auto retracts) and as soon i touch down (on shore). The aerobrake in the Viper in my opinion is due to no landing weight restriction like the Hornet. Yes, different methods. Although i´m much confortable with landing the Hornet. Thank you for your reply.

ICLS is a landing tool and is used by naval aviators in CASE I too. From i heard from The Fighter Pilot podcast it´s up for each aviator choice.

Thank you for your reply/help. I corrected my procedure. i´m not sure but i think i mixed with the F-16C, because in the Viper i only use the NWS till 80kts for what i read before about Viper Takeoff/landing procedures.

F/18 wing folding / Static payload (static and AI)
fagulha replied to Stewart46660's topic in Wish List
Added these arguments to the .lua file: custom_args = { [38] = 0.911, --canopy [323] = 1.0, --ladder } -
I will correct my procedure from now on, and check where i wrongly read about Hornet NWS usage. Thank you.
-
Probably i misunderstood with NWS HI and used that way with NWS, it´s my only explanation for the wrong usage. What is the procedure you use?
-
I only use NWS on takeoff until hit 80kts (as should be), and on landing same thing, only enable NWS when hit 80kts. That´s the way.

F/18 wing folding / Static payload (static and AI)
fagulha replied to Stewart46660's topic in Wish List
+1. Tried to find it by myself (i can place statics with canopy opened for example) and also created a thread about that months ago to see if anyone can help about editing but with no joy. I think it's not possible. -

Afaik it´s only for the Tomcat at the moment.

In my missions i have always WOD at ideal speed, sometimes i change the wind and carrier speed but maintain always WOD 30kts, i really never thought about the carrier speed until this thread. Its irrelevant. The deck is always moving right i just need to make little corrections to adjust my lineup. The lineup lights are a great help. If for some reason i use a pre-made mission by someone the first thing i do is check if the WOD is correct. That´s it.

No prob, glad i could help in some way. About mods using core folder, you need to install OVgme to use these kind of mods (in that case the loogbook mod). This way you can enable/disable mods in a click when need testing without mods, or update, cleanup etc. download OVgme and follow instructions, any question please say so and i, or others, will try to help for sure. I leave some examples how i have the OVgme set up, you need to create a folder inside DCS savedgames named _OVGME Mods and then put all the mods that use core folder there. You can use OVgme also for "common" mods that don´t use core files but i only use it for mods that use core folder of DCS.

You shouldn´t install any mods and liveries directly in Main/Core DCS folder, all mods/liveries/textures and scripts go to DCS Savedgames folder. My path: F:\Users\YOURUSERNAME HERE\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Forrestal\Forrestal Clear Deck This way you can choose the liverie of the Forrestal in the Mission Editor. (in your case it will be in drive C:\ as default but i changed mine) If the Liveries folder does not exist create like the path shown above. Mods go to Mods folder inside savedgames DCS folder (again, if not exist create Mods folder). You have some examples below how i have things installed. Hope it helps

There are no mods for the Forrestal. The deck liverie for the Forrestal didn´t appeared at cleanup process probably because it´s saved in SavedGames folder and that´s why we save there mods, files, scripts, so they don´t be overwritten each update/restore/cleanup. When i encounter a problem the first thing i do it´s to uninstall/disable all of my mods and see if the problem persists, and if not, i can add mods one by one to find the culprit. So, try without any mods (i doubt the Forrestal´s texture do any harm because it doesn´t mess with core files) and see if the problem persists please.
