You are totally right. And totally understand that this kind of content just takes its room. It was more about my folder expanding so quickly. Still love DCS, and will play it (even if it includes buying more ssd in the future ) Btw, at the same time I am writing this there is F-16 wing at full AB straight over me/my house They are practicing for Turku Airshow. I totally undestand that, I was just wondering why my folder size has doubled, since I havent installed anything else than, normandy 2.0 map. Its clear updates makes it go up and down what comes to usage of diskspace, not to mention modules. Does trial etc installed / uninstalled modules leave something behind? I have feeling that when trialed many modules this year, though uninstalled / deleted em trough mod manager in dcs-> seems that some of the data stays, at least when i look at my folder size compared to 5-6 months ago. But yeah thanks. This helps some, because I can delete some liveries just to get dcs install inside 500gb ssd with windows 10, still problems with space. Gets pretty ridicilous if I soon need 1TB SSD if going to buy few mods more, after couple of DCS updates. This is all the same for me, but when 500 gb ssd seems not to be enough anymore with ONE game installed + windows. I totally love DCS, but this has confused me, since for long time DCS stayed in 120gb + mods. Now its (for me at least) like 200gb + + mods. Actually the modules installed, are not big. It is confusing that one plane is 14x larger than second largest, in coremods. (just an example). I think there can be sayed, "could it be pinched down littlebit from somewhere". But yeah I totally understand that big games take big data, no question about that. There just seem to point out some stuff that seems pretty large, compared to others. Have a nice day!

My f-14 folder is 14GB, and I dont even have F-14 installed. Most of it are zipped liveries. Can I delete em, does dcs download em back if it needs em? Other folders are max 2gb, most under 1gb. This is from coremods folder. I have only 4 maps right now, (caucasus, marianas, normandy 2.0 (<- ~44gb just that) and ONE high fidelty plane+ fc3 and my dcs folder (without saved games folder) is 240gb! Is there ANY way to get it smaller, or is that just the way it is? Have OB version. The DCS folder just gets bigger and bigger. This is laughable. I just bought new 500gb ssd JUST for DCS folder was 120gb and my old ssd was only 260gb (and win10 on it too). It got just too small. Now 3 months later, Im about to get to same problem. DCS folder size has DOUBLED in 3 months (from 120gb -> 240gb) and that is only the DCS install folder, on top of that /savedgames/dcs folder wihch is around 50gb. So sry for my language but WTF ED? Why is this. Ok inside that 3 months I have installed normandy 2.0 trial, which is that ~40gb´s, and that is understandable, but where does that other data come frome. My coremods folder only is 95,7GB ??!

Hello! I have problem with mission 4 startup. "Psycho" on cat 3 doesnt move anywhere, in youtube videos he takes off before my "Raven 1-2 an 2-2" (me and my wingman) takes off/taxies. Am I doing wrong something? Can somebody reply this?

Hah was froze again at the morning (raven one mission 3, funny that its the same mission nowdays that onlyl has replied the problem). BUT I got around it fast. Now it helped just to create mission editor folder again, start DCS one time with empy logbook / new player -> started the frozen campaign -> ended one mission -> skipped to mission 3 -> test -> starts ok -> end mission -> quit dcs -> copy paste my logbook to new missioneditor folder that dcs just created -> start RO campaing msn 3 -> starts OK -> Heart attack cancelled -> GAME ON! . On next week, I think I just re-install DCS, and I get back to this only if it freezes so that I can´t go around it. Dunno if the fault is in my DCS installation, PG map, seems that it is not logbook. But it does not matter, this is beta afterall, as long as I can go around it. Some ppl have claimed same kind of situations couple of years back, with PG map itself, but did not find topic about that anymore, with quick looking. Thanks for looking that logbook file. There has been a lot of mess with it earlier, so good to know it is more or less OK. Now finally goddam playing DCS, afterall its weekend

Hornet display buttons now works again! Thank you! It is really nice to have that feedback, when using buttons fast - like in cold start.

Umm. Now I just RESTARTED the campaign (what I have done million times before.. ) and it STARTED wohoo o/ . I noticed that update made happen that i did not get that replied with any other campaing anymore (as mentioned before) and now restarting the campaing made it load it normally, with my own logbook. Hope it stays. So the problem is gone FOR NOW, lets see what happens when time goes on. Thanks alot for your help and time. This is goddam weird... But now I got that campaing working, it has been some time that I have even got the mission #1 loaded! Have a nice day ! I will do this if the problem still replies. Hope not..

Ok. Weird. I did not get replied the problem yesterday anymore, with any other campaing, than Raven One. I will try today re-install the campaing, and restart it, and then try again. Is the end of the log the point where it freezes or the point where I force dcs.exe down... (there is no other way out, I waited for many minutes yesterday before forcing dcs down). I could of also try to let it be in that window longer, but computer really seems to be doing nothing after the freeze, as the reading from drives end (thoug process still takes alot of power from computer, dunno really what is going on there.) I have pretty old computer, but clearly there has been no problems with it ever while playing. (i5 4960k+ 20gb ddr3 +gtx 960 4gb). Maby re-install dcs, but thats PAIN with my internet connection. And actually I re-installed DCS some time ago as I bought new ssd. The prob was also with install before it. But still, I will just let it be and see what happens with re-installing the campaing, cause clearly the problem replies with that very campaing. Btw I get also script errors in Operation Pontus campaing, everytime when I destroy something, just thought I will mention that if it has something to do with this. I think not, but just mentioning. But yeah, thanks for checking that MissionEd. folder. I had some weirdomobs before (couple of months ago) but I think it is more or less in condition now. I can report if I somehow get it working. Seems weird that it is just with one campaing, and no errors. Thanks alot though! BTW: Should I remove that autoexec file? What does it even do? (just for interest, maby learn something some day, as mentioned pretty new with dcs, but not with computers or gaming.)

Yes it seems so. Me myself for example, cant start Raven One campaign AT ALL. None of before used workarounds havent helped anymore. Not even new logbook / remaking /savedgames/dcs/missioneditor folder. Before there was random workarounds, but not anymore. (I think this is not raven one campaings fault by any means!) Its sucks totally that I cant use campaings what I have payed for, but thats ofc another case. This prob is weird, because whole spring it has gone more and more usual and more and more worse, among updates.

I think I have the very same prob. With F/A-18c, even with DCS fully repaired, with extra file search and every mod taken off, I get freeze on loading window. I first thought it was "Sim poststart" problem, because that is what is on screen when the loading freezes (there is no way out it, only forcing windows to quit dcs gets me off that loading screen..) That loading screen porblem was not the case when ppl looked my logs, in topic for that loading screen problem), but I was tipped that my log seem to tell it is this. For example, for now I cant start Raven One campaing AT ALL with my logbook. It SOMETIMES will start, if I remake /savedgames/dcs/missioneditor/ directory after and uninstall reinstall the campaign etc. It usually happens with persian gulf map, at least for me, but sometimes also in other maps. (Raven one is not the problem, it was just an example here, because that one triggers it everytime for me). I am not home now and cant reply the problem for logs, but I can do it later. My prob is always single player, with F/A-18c and ONLY has happened / replied / triggered with SP Hornet bought campaigs, usually, as mentioned, in PG map, but sometimes also with Caucasus. Maby it would happen with other maps too, if I used em more, or had bought campaings for ´em, really dunno.

well at the FIRST tutorial for me it stops "press 1 or 7 from numpad to start entering the coordinates" -> does not do anything. I totally understand that these take some time, but while ppl like me trialing the planes, these are kinda "u-turn" moments from buying stuff. Nobody wants to read 400 pages, just to try the airplane. Nice model still, and I totally will buy em when im happy with my trial. Pretty much same thing was with f-16 few months ago. Could not play half from the tutorials, just for tpod and bomb fusing not working. I recommend to fix these, if not totally, just by adding few sidenotes to tutorials texts..

dcs.log Does this correlate somehow with SAME thing with SP campaings.. Thats latest freeze. Cant play Raven One campaign at all.

dcs.loglogbook.lua Have now tried to play Raven One campaing. IF and WHEN I "remake" savedgames/dcsob/missioneditor folder (clear logbook), i can start raven one campaing. Even the mission 3. But with my own logbook, even after restarted campaign and skipped two first missions it makes the good old freeze on sim poststart (there is some weird errors on dcs.log, but clerly it somehow correlates with my logbook.lua. Have kinda tried everything, re-installed the campaign module, re-installed the persian gulf map etc etc. Only way is to make new logbook.lua. Dunno whatta heck is wrong with my logbook. And oh. That Dcs.log ends suddenly, because there is no other way out from that freezed loading window -> force quit dcs. (by windows). If somebody could help it would be wonderfull. Ofc I could play the campaign with new user, but this annoys me, because this has happened more or less with every bought persian gulf campaing, but this is first time i cant anymore get around it and continue campaing. (or even by restarting it and removing it, with my old logbook.lua). What in gods name is going on?

With latest OB patch 2.8.xxxx has A LOT of these in my DCS.log. Corrupt model for example Hind. Hornet display buttons graphical feedback does not work, but that have been already reported. It seems there is a lot of graphical bugs for some reason in latest OB, and I have had MANY DCS repairing, renaming missioneditor folder etc, because of jamming pretty much daily on SP campaigns loader at "Sim Poststart". Something really exploded pretty much everything in DCS (coordinates does not add up with models on ground etc. CCIP pipper on hornet is giving false readings. Something weird with ground lvls. Something weird with runways (a lot of Runway / taxiway does not exists) on DCS.log and other very weird stuff. (yes I have reapired it, as administrator, deleted all the 3th party mods, but still buggy as hell. In every plane there is some weid new glitch. That freezing of loading screen happens only with f/a18c but in every map SP Campaign. Dunno if these are related, but somethin did something to latest OB that I really recommend just to back off What is that loading screen thing? Does it have something to do with muchos corrupt this and corrupt that in dcs log? It has been reported two years ago on persian gulf map, but with MP (though same manouvers helped). Still what is going on? Why everything smashed suddenly?

It has been just broken for a time (automatically choose L&S, if not done already, when pressing switching rws to tws) but now some time ago fixed.) I think I have flew most of my time without it working. But yeah that seems and is totally another case... But yeah I still have had pretty much also problems with this lately with problem of the topic. (AACQ/FACQ) No wonder I have had hard times trying to learn deeper into hornets modes vs. manual...

I can reply this also AND : When pressed TWS, Hornet just chooses / forces /"locks" "the nearest" (?) tgt to L&S. I bet it should not do this? At least did not do before... Primarly it even seems to L&S friendlies. At last update button graphical feedback -> kaboom, and this -> kaboom. Or is it supposed to do this? I´m kinda new to Hornet, but have played few months now, and did not see this before. (It seems to l&s the nearest even from pretty "practical limits" of the radar (where U usually would not find it so easily...) (or lock would at least be very "bumpy"). Pressing reset does not help, before I go to RWS and reset. But then if back to TWS, immediatly same thing again. L&S to nearest possible. Should it be this way?

Have not replied the error in any other case. (only in campaing loading, SP) Maby I will post immediately .log file if / when it occurs again.

Got it working, again, after doing about everything I mentioned above, outcluding repairdcs. But yeah here are both files (dunno if its correct dcs.log (there are many in different names/backups or something in folder, truly dont understand anything of these what comes to DCS (or I do understand, something, just havent done anything with em before..)), just in case. (last time it freezed, was running F/A-18C + Rise of Persian Lion 2 or Raven One campaing(? not 100% sure) (it have happened though with every campaing, "ED" and user files, but always F/A-18C + PG. (dont have any other owned HF mods, yet, though trialed few..) EDIT: Damned, there was a lot of () in my typing.. sry dcs.log logbook.lua

Hi! Have had since at least two updates this problem: Sometimes when I start/continue, SP campaing the loading screen freezes, more or less randomly, at same place "sim poststart" (seems really that this does not matter, do I continue or start new one from beginning / even after re-installing the campaing). Sometimes I get over it by renaming the /savedgames/dscfolder/missioneditor/ folder (DCS makes a new one), and then starting campaing with new user. -> then restarting the dcs with my old logbook.lua (from that old "_renamed_missioneditor" - folder. But now it has gone to a point I just have to install/reinstall, thumbling with that directory, restarting campaings restarting dcs and computer, doing this doing that and randomly it seems to just work after doing "stuff", but havent found any logic there. So do I have something weird going on with my logbook, what comes to the PG map, or does it have bug of this kind. Few times ago I still thought it was about certaing campaings, but it seems its not, it happens more or less randomly, or as I said havent found any logic in that (or how I can/have got that fixed). Now I´m in point I just cant start campaigns with my logbook at PG map anymore. I could of try to re-install the PG map, but.. Before I do that with my crappy internet: Is this a known bug. I have found only MP topic about this, and no solution (atleast I did not find any) really in there eather. So is there any? Can somebody plz check my logbook file if theres some problem, or is there a way to check it somehow myself, with some tool maby? I really would not want to lose all those flight hours and start million campaings from very beginning

And yeah, I´m pretty sure that it worked still at wednesday / before I updated the OB yesterday, or atleast immediatly at first startup noticed that. (just for info if it is any use.) THANKS once again for fast support from ED (more or less). This is really BEST in DCS, that I can ask / tell stuff and you guys REALLY answer me!

Ok. Thanks. Have flown with hornet just couple of months so you can Imagine how I wondered yesterday "have they ever moved?" And it is only those two upper displays. Coloured bottom display buttons work still normally. Weird bug isnt it? I just wonder how did that even happen.. Have cockpit gotten some updates, or might it even be some changes to cockpit system of DCS for F-15E working.. ? Just interested, as it seems weird bug, as that cockpit has been working pretty long time. But yeah. The buttons still do their job, it is just when you do pretty much everything at startup etc. from muscle memory, and just have watched the feedback "button goes down -> ok it took my press -> next" Well maby by this I learn "back" also to watch what is happening on the screen... Thanks for answer, it is good always to know I am not alone with some "weirdomobs".
