  1. Is this going ANYwhere? Come on you sell product at full price, no training missions working, not including any campaings etc. I would assume that a problem this big could have been repaired in two years? Yes no maby? (answer is no, i just tried to do the tutorials as bought f16 yesterday. Pretty much all of the A/G training missions is undoable, for what ever reason, mostly just for wpns settings does not work more or less. Come on thos triggers are IMPORTANT stuff. Just for interest - How do they differ in other planes? Is the weapon somehow different when it drops from f/a-18 (in dcs code), or is it just f-16 button what doesnt work? I think its fair to ask this while topic is even now couple of years old, and have payed 80 bucks for it. And PLZ update those tutorials for your own good. I bet somebody trialing the f16 "should i buy this", is not very happy when trying to do stuff in trainings and more or less every wpn training is a bummer. Some of em even have problems with triggers. I bet that is not good merchandising... Thanks still for great flight model. F-16 is clearly my favourite plane what comes to flying, and a/a stuff seems to be working more or less well. BUT.
  2. Maby it wass littlebit too "edgy" comment from me. It isnt "harder", i just wanted to say that I like the logic of F/A-18 A/G stuff more, / the designate system. F-16 though has its own good things. Like moving the pod in "flight" on frozen radar screen (yes one can ofc do it with hornet also, but in f-16 thats in my opinion clearer / smoother, while one can search for things by moving the cursor on the screen of f-16. (just an example) Both has their pros and cons. It is more what one likes.. I am also newer to f-16 so it is clear that it makes it adds it own salt to my typing Like I said, I still also love the f-16. It is also way more fun to fly, IMO. But maby I close my nontopic discussion
  3. Hi! Trialed f-16 first about 5 months ago. Did tutorials and pretty much learned it in 2 weeks. (as much as one can learn in 2 weeks...). Then I had some problems with A/G tutorials, but A/A went fine. Now when I finally bought F-16 module 5months later, thought I will start with quick doing trainers, just for refresh my memory. In the mission where one uses the boresight to kill su-25t´s coming behind the mountain ridge from right, voice tells everything unpauses the flight, but about immediatly triggers next "step" of tutorial and puts my flight again to act. pause and halts there. Same problem with HMCS A/A use tutorial. Weird pause thingamobs which clearly should not be there. This time though I could make most of A/G trainers, which just did not work 5 months ago (f-16 had just bugs back then, and good that now those seems to be away, but now there is problem with A/A tutorials. Dont know if this has been reported, so I thought i would write about it. I would assume it is kinda big thing , that one can make the trainers. Kinda bummer if one have not used f16 and halts to trainers.. Well back 5months ago it was a deal braker for me, and did not buy f-16. Now I did, and I dont mind this so much, cause I can do those by my owm research, but still it would be GREAT if those worked, for whole community. - with best regards - Col. Lahti, FIN -

  4. Yes, it is actually much more convinient (whole pod) in hornet. You just open tgtpod in hornet (in A/G mode), select desired waypoint and press WPDSG (in HSI under waypoint selection arrows). You can even go to A/A mode, meanwhile shoot down couple of mig29´s and then go back to A/G mode of hornet -> tgtpod goes where you left (and also ag target). Sry guys for little bit offtopic (if this is F-16 topic) but in a case he did still not know... I am going to get hate by saing this but i think hornets designating system helps heck of alot with tgt pod, and that it uses same logic ALWAYS vs. With f-16 where A/G stuff doing fast in heat of battle... well a mess. There are some things in F-16 pod that just does not fit in my head (why they are done how they are done, I can use it thats not the case, it is just glumsy.) I Still love flying F-16 as much as hornet. Hornet gives the kicks for its systems, but gets boring while its like missile traktor. F-16 has more "IM A ROCKET MAAAN!" feeling. Have a nice weekend. <3
  5. "Spoiler Alert". Thought I give littlebit of feedback of the Flaming Sunrise campaing! Have now played the campaing two times, and gotta say this is maby the most actioned campaing that I have played among SP. Dynamic system in here hase come far from Operation Pontus, and also the design of the map / missions emselves. For fist timers I really recommend to just fly A/A and buzz around the Iranian bases to get em coming for you suicidal, and just drop em. Get air superiority first. You will get it pretty fast. After that one can do OCA and Strategy strikes without Iranian airforce buzzing and complicating things. Same time at beginning i usually have "carefull sead" by AI (dont send em to die for nothing..), and Ship strikes seems to be effective at beginning also! I also kinda always had one cap and one cas over the Dubai itself, if I just could / mainly at least before the US Airforce gets there... (sry for spoiler) Ai seees to do some stupid things time to time, but thats not campaings fault. And sometimes the f10 settings at beginning bug weirdly (so rare that it has not really bothered me-> just reset mission and try again) so that i put like "devil 4 cas to area india" "devil 4 area set to echo" (sometimes it just puts the area in wrong, dunno why, but as said this is rare and i bet it is not also about the campaing, think its just DCS / dynamic engine doing new stuff, understandable). But yeah. I really liked the action in this. In beginning one really needs to think what to do, and gets even pretty fast multirole and a/a action. It was so fun that immediatly I wanted to restart the campaing after playing trough. Now it is fun to try how Multirole I can get / can I do it without first getting overpower in air, like I solved stuff at first time. Very nice. Keep these coming! (And yes it is good that one does not need to put weapons to devils 2->5. That would ofc be cool someday also, but in SP it would just be too much to be fun.) In here the "glunkyness" of other dynamic campaings was pretty much fixed better. This is just good amount of stuff for one mission, for one player. In other dynamic campaings it has been to boring to pick weapons for every group etc etc. In Flaming Sunrise it is just normal mission editing / put waypoints to what you are doing / targets -> choose what others do -> go. And big part of that is the ready to go strike devils 2->5 strike /cap flights. Nice job! (btw: I would love some more radio "chatter" (no, i dont want that "maby we grab a bear after this" top gun mambojambo as we see in many other campaings.. ), but maby just some recorded mission radio sounds background, just for kicks.. Like in many other campaings. ) The use of radios itself was here pretty nice, as there was not too much triggers etc. But the radiosounds were littlebit, well, boring. Thats only improvement that I would like to see (hear ) Still. This was really worth the money!

  7. How is this going on. I have still these very same problems with op. pontus (HEEFEE code). Caps doing their job, when ever my wingman hits a target on the ground windows desktop gets me somekind of script error message (but dcs goes on when pressing ok :P). Is the sead "search" waypoint supposed to be so far south. They aret told from very beginning to go circle south from zone itself. Is it supposed to be so. But I would like to know does this campaing even work, for now, just that I wouldnt waste time with broken campaing, if it is broken. There is just much "little weird-o-mobs" (errors / weird things happenig) in the campaign. Is it under work or is it just halted to condition that it is now. also my wingman is doing stuff pretty weirdly THOUGH doing what i ask him to do. He tends to get target far out somewhere and fly around low, getting all the manpads after him and finally usually just drops his weapons. Ok I destroyed the bridge, but after that it is kinda "ok maby i RTB nothings happening". CAP is doing their stuff well, so well that I dont have to do anything. Is the strike target ALWAYS the bridge as mentioned here? Anyways, are you guys going to fix op. pontus or not? Or is it working as intented, but it just is how it is? That new dynamic campaign had some real action, though it seemed fast also to repeat and repeat itself (though going forward, but still.). I really like the idea of SP dynamic campaing, but it seems there just comes new code and after that it pretty much repeats itself. Daytime is changing randomly ofc (as it should if i understand correctly). But... ?

  9. Is there normally so much Liveries? (in f-14 folder) Only liverie I have ever installed is F/A-18C FiAF skin. I have though trialed once (the normal two week trial) F-14 itself. Does it affect somehow on those?
  10. Has this been fixed yet? I have pretty much same kind of problems. What comes to ccip of gun (in A/G mode ofc) it seems to fly over the target.
  11. Yeah noticed that, while trialed FC3 some time ago, as one module, just for interest what will happen. This narrowed down the answer quite good. I will NOT buy it, (for at least... ) Thanks for this, made me wonder it from new angle, and want to keep my themes...! At the time i bought su-33 I wasnt aware. 6 months later bought supercarrier. Though, at the time I bought su-33 was some crazy supersale, so my su-33 bill was 5bucks. I pretty much made back in the days everything kinda vice versa, than one should had done, if wanted to save money. To keen to fly, to lazy to RTFM
  12. Hi! I´m more or less new to dynamic campaings, but idea of this seems nice. Umm. This maby stupid question, but how do I change my OWN wings task? Is it just by changing loadout, and leave it just as "CAP"? And btw, there is restriction for no AG attacks in wp0 , does that have effect in every waypoint?
  13. Is there any difference compared to fc3 planes in one package, if I buy those modules separately. Yes I know it was stupid in the first place, not to buy them all, but at the time I just wanted to try DCS with some western Jet (F-15C). Now in situation, I have all the other planes but not SU-25. If I would buy that su-25 is it => you have fc3 module, and if so, is there any difference not to have fc3? Does fc3 module include something that I will not have, if I dont buy it as whole package?

Hornets systems and adding waypoints / targets / coords with realistic terminology can be quit overwhelming at first, but as forced myself some time ago to just use em, now it comes pretty much from "muscle memory" (pretty much same way as many other things in dcs too). Me myself should really use more markpoint system of hornet, I know ~about how it works, but just havent used it, as much as I should. But yeah, that "write down stuff" is something that seems first "omg"-like (for me at least it did) but nowdays, even when not given coords, I many times use waypoints of my own with F/A-18C. Afterall the usage of the waypoint system of hornet is kinda practical / easy to use compared to many other planes, as one can do it on display + ufc, instead of ufc / digital panels only. But still, yes, I know that feeling. Just bought this campaing, and flied first mission, and I really liked it. No weirdomobs so far at the mission itself, but lets see what happens when I get to designing. Lookin now tutorials at background. BTW any clue anyone is there pdf or some "official" tutorial / manual for the Flaming Sunrise campaing?
  15. Yeah. I noticed that. But as new drive had more cache (or even a cache) compared to my old 260gb ssd, I wanted fresh install of windows to it. Also bought new hotas at the same time, so at that time I just wanted also a fresh install of OB DCS. My old folder was old as hell, as I had installed it to HDD year xxxx and it was just sitting there sometime and then started to play DCS more or less daily about two years ago, and that time that folder was already pretty old. So I just copied some bind settings etc. and installed whole OB. But yeah it can be copied, have done it once while moved from HDD to ssd when started that playing. (I had DCS installed for years, but was on hook with Kerbal Space Program, which started to annoy me after 3000hours.. -> DCS) Hah, this reminded me how painfull was loading dcs at HDD times ;D
  16. Yeah they are pretty big too, but managable. For me, they go to my old 260gb ssd / other drive. Though dont have it always on. Tacview was very helpfull for me, when learning basics. And ofc is still! EDIT: quoted wrong person. Time to sleep...
  17. Is Restrict Jettison = on , mean its restricted? I mean if I want AI NOT to jettison at any situation, should it be = on or =off ? (yes might be a stupid question, but just to be sure, as I havent got it working with Restricted Jettison= on.) At least I havent got it working with AI, ever... (?) The Evasion control for AI, (passive defence, manouvers, abort mission possible etc.) works fine. Are those commands somehow crossing each other? Btw, does that mean something when I add that "restrict jettison = on " line to adv. waypoint settings stays gray, while other commands are bright white. Is it somehow not active command then? Or am I doing something wrong? Many user here seems to have problems with this setting. Does it work time I´m writing this (OB 2.8.xxx)
  18. At the time I bought that 500 gb ssd, it was 49 euros here in Finland. The buying of stuff was not important here, only why those liveries has to be so damn large, and even more just wondered why my DCS folder expanded way lot more than those mods are taking. Its clear that if I install new module, it will take more space. In this case the space was / is not taken by those installed modules. But yeah you totally got point with that price, onlyl reason I did not buy 1TB SSD is because I have ddr3 computer with asus z97 motherboard. It has one m.2 _ onnector_ BUT its one of those first ones, which just uses one of SATA connections of motherboard (so called "fake" m.2) So it is SATA SSD, and at least here in Finland the price for 1 gb was that time lower with 500gb (for SATA III version SSD). Yes I need new computer more or less anytime.
  19. You are totally right. And totally understand that this kind of content just takes its room. It was more about my folder expanding so quickly. Still love DCS, and will play it (even if it includes buying more ssd in the future ) Btw, at the same time I am writing this there is F-16 wing at full AB straight over me/my house They are practicing for Turku Airshow. Yesterday Apaches flied around Turku, Finland Sub-urbs. Cool effects for DCS forum writing.
  20. I totally undestand that, I was just wondering why my folder size has doubled, since I havent installed anything else than, normandy 2.0 map. Its clear updates makes it go up and down what comes to usage of diskspace, not to mention modules. Does trial etc installed / uninstalled modules leave something behind? I have feeling that when trialed many modules this year, though uninstalled / deleted em trough mod manager in dcs-> seems that some of the data stays, at least when i look at my folder size compared to 5-6 months ago. But yeah thanks. This helps some, because I can delete some liveries just to get dcs install inside 500gb ssd with windows 10, still problems with space. Gets pretty ridicilous if I soon need 1TB SSD if going to buy few mods more, after couple of DCS updates. This is all the same for me, but when 500 gb ssd seems not to be enough anymore with ONE game installed + windows. I totally love DCS, but this has confused me, since for long time DCS stayed in 120gb + mods. Now its (for me at least) like 200gb + + mods. Actually the modules installed, are not big. It is confusing that one plane is 14x larger than second largest, in coremods. (just an example). I think there can be sayed, "could it be pinched down littlebit from somewhere". But yeah I totally understand that big games take big data, no question about that. There just seem to point out some stuff that seems pretty large, compared to others. Have a nice day!
  21. My f-14 folder is 14GB, and I dont even have F-14 installed. Most of it are zipped liveries. Can I delete em, does dcs download em back if it needs em? Other folders are max 2gb, most under 1gb. This is from coremods folder. I have only 4 maps right now, (caucasus, marianas, normandy 2.0 (<- ~44gb just that) and ONE high fidelty plane+ fc3 and my dcs folder (without saved games folder) is 240gb! Is there ANY way to get it smaller, or is that just the way it is? Have OB version. The DCS folder just gets bigger and bigger. This is laughable. I just bought new 500gb ssd JUST for DCS folder was 120gb and my old ssd was only 260gb (and win10 on it too). It got just too small. Now 3 months later, Im about to get to same problem. DCS folder size has DOUBLED in 3 months (from 120gb -> 240gb) and that is only the DCS install folder, on top of that /savedgames/dcs folder wihch is around 50gb. So sry for my language but WTF ED? Why is this. Ok inside that 3 months I have installed normandy 2.0 trial, which is that ~40gb´s, and that is understandable, but where does that other data come frome. My coremods folder only is 95,7GB ??!
  22. Hello! I have problem with mission 4 startup. "Psycho" on cat 3 doesnt move anywhere, in youtube videos he takes off before my "Raven 1-2 an 2-2" (me and my wingman) takes off/taxies. Am I doing wrong something? Can somebody reply this?
  23. Hah was froze again at the morning (raven one mission 3, funny that its the same mission nowdays that onlyl has replied the problem). BUT I got around it fast. Now it helped just to create mission editor folder again, start DCS one time with empy logbook / new player -> started the frozen campaign -> ended one mission -> skipped to mission 3 -> test -> starts ok -> end mission -> quit dcs -> copy paste my logbook to new missioneditor folder that dcs just created -> start RO campaing msn 3 -> starts OK -> Heart attack cancelled -> GAME ON! . On next week, I think I just re-install DCS, and I get back to this only if it freezes so that I can´t go around it. Dunno if the fault is in my DCS installation, PG map, seems that it is not logbook. But it does not matter, this is beta afterall, as long as I can go around it. Some ppl have claimed same kind of situations couple of years back, with PG map itself, but did not find topic about that anymore, with quick looking. Thanks for looking that logbook file. There has been a lot of mess with it earlier, so good to know it is more or less OK. Now finally goddam playing DCS, afterall its weekend

BTW: Are the medals available only for certain coutries (players / users chosen homecountry)..? My logbook can be nice mess, as played a lot of user made campaings also.. logbook.lua
