  1. Salute guys, Although I am a pretty much exclusive Apache pilot and can not comment experiencing your issues, I have some guys in our squad that do get stutters and frame rate issues flying F16 a lot so look out for threads like this with interest on their behalf. What might be interesting here is another thread I linked to them about where using the repair feature did not fix stutters but a clean install did. I know it is a big step to take and not to be considered lightly, but thought I would highlight it in case you guys were not aware. I can not report back to say if it did the trick for my squad mates as I don't think they have gone for it yet.
  2. Hello @Gorrilaz23, Please may I have the Cougar MFD's if they are still available. I live in the UK if that helps. regards Friar
  3. Previous comments here have been about power and the collective (the collective is NOT a throttle) but to pick up speed you need to put the nose down a bit and are you also using trim on the Apache? (it helps A LOT, for hands off constant flying) Are you flying with the ball centred and/or the vertical flight indicator? in other words are you flying in a slipped orientation ( rather than flying like this | your aircraft is going through the air like this / which will loose momentum) The cyclic will give you speed and by using the trim lock each time you adjust any of the levers that will enable you to re-centre them (torque/rudder pedals and cyclic). I use an X56 which has the option for a split throttle however I only use 1 side as the collective, I do not even have an input for throttle power. When starting up I just have a button mapped to move the power leavers to idle then to full and never touch it again during flight. Are you using the control indicator (default Right Control + Enter) so you can see your inputs to check if anything funny is going on. I learnt to fly the Apache by watching lots of YouTube videos, CasmoTV is one of my favourites (https://www.youtube.com/@CasmoTV)
  4. rEF THE VIDEO, gRIMREAPERS DID ONE ON THE wAREHOUSE CONCPET QUITE A WHILE BACK
  5. Glad I found this thread - I was going to report that I had the issue of the swap button not working as well.
  6. Apologies for asking what might be a simple question this late into the thread, but have you checked in the Specials menu the setting for the type of stick you have. There is auto centre (?) or one that says "FFB friendly" Again, apologies if I have missed the point of your issue. Friar
  7. Hi, it may be that @Abburo you have one of the mods we found that causes the issue installed in YOUR system if the Military Assets do not use the Sounders Tools file (perhaps compare them to say the A4-E in our list.) It could also be that you have a mod that we had not been aware of (we only fixed the ones we knew about and did say that we are not the mod sound police and were not going to come up with the fixes for ALL conflicting mods). Have a look and check to see if any mods you have use the Sounders file structure and then simply apply the same scenario to the files (rename tools to ????tools and edit the engine files to match etc. That's all we did once we had the A4 fix. It just so happens that the A4, bronco and Black Hawk all used the same Sounders structure. I first found this issue by disabling all of my mods and then adding them back one at a time and only having one mod enabled at a time to find the culprits. Perhaps try this? Regards DD_Friar
  8. Just listened to a pod cast on the Rotary Wing Show Episode 108 about a British pilot who had a flare from a Chinook he was escorting go through his window and burn him. https://rotarywingshow.com/108-apache-flare-clive-richardson/ Ironically his mission was due to start in the later part of darkness and he knew that when he arrived on site it would be daylight and he would not need his night vision glasses. He made the call to his ground crew who had to un bolt the night vision stuff to put on a visor. This call saved his face as the flair scraped off the visor. The point to my story is that I don't think the Apache pilot can have a flip down sun visor like fast jet pilots due to the IHADS monocle? Although the ground I am standing on could be a bit shakey and happy to be proved wrong with contra evidence. Salute PS Whilst looking for the same thing I found that there are slidable screens on the left and right of the dashboard to shade the MFD's (no default key binding) DD_Friar
  9. Hmm... Thanks for helping once again.
  10. Ok, so i did have the ring (I was actually zoomed IN too far!) I have fired off some shells from my Sherman and neither of the commands shown above seem to do anything. Can anyone vouch for this process and say that it does work in the current open beta version? and that the issue is at my end at the input side to the keyboard?
  11. Perhaps I am not zoomed in enough on the truck. I will take another look. Many thanks for the reply.
  12. @razo+r - I have tried the Jimmy but am not seeing the ring. Does that mean I have a mission setting wrong perhaps and explains why the rearm is not working?
  13. Salute Using an historical unit set on the Normandy 44' map, is anyone able to advise me please which trucks provide ammo for Allied and Axis tanks? I have tried using the "Jimmy" and the M30 but despite using up all my shells in the Sherman and hitting LeftAlt + R nothing happens (plus I am right next to it) I do still have some machine gun bullets left - do I have to be COMPLETELY empty for re-arm to work - bit naff if that is the case and will stop the idea I am currently working on. Your advice / assistance as always appreciated. DD_Friar.
  14. Salute It does not matter if you are flying the mod at the time. With the mod installed without the fix attempting to drive a tank will result in no sound. I believe it is to do with the Sounders file. Regards DD_Friar
  15. @Tanuki44 Salute Sir for an excellent mod. I don't know if you are aware but using this mod breaks the tank engine sounds when they are driven in either Combined Arms or using the WWII Asset Pack. Myself and a squad mate DD_Sid discovered this and thanks to the guys over at the A4-E development team (their mod also broke the sounds as well as the Bronco) who produced a fix, we reverse engineered their fix and ported it across to the Bronco and also your Black Hawk mod. Our work can be found here:- I was therefore wondering if you are planning any future updates you would consider including the following simple fix in your release. 1. Within the "Sounders" folder rename the "Tools.lua" to be "uh60l_Tools.lua" (this reads uh'sixty' lower case L) 2. Within the "Engines" folder (contained within "Aircraft") update the file "uh60l_engine.lua" by editing the first line which says dofile("Tools.lua") to read dofile("uh60l_Tools.lua") 3. Within the same file add an additional line just below the above edit that says dofile("Curve.lua") We have found that is all that is required to resolve this issue. Many thanks once again for the time and effort that goes into this excellent mod. Kind regards DD_Friar
  16. @Sgt_Fresh Salute Sir, Over at the DangerDogz (www.Dangerdogz.com) we very much enjoy using your excellent mod and of course applied the update. I would like to point out however that when using it, it breaks the tank engine sounds when they are driven by a player (both standard Combined Arms and WWII Asset Pack). Myself and a squad mate, DD_Sid, discovered this a while back (when we found it originally the A4-E also caused the same problem. It was thanks to guys over at the A4-E development team who produced a fix for their model that we were able to reverse engineer a fix for both the Bronco and the Black Hawk (which also breaks the sounds) which we published here:- I was therefore wondering if you are still working on this mod and are planning any further updates you would consider including the following fixes. 1. Within the "Sounders" folder change the name of Tools.lua to OV-10ATools.lua 2. Within the "Engines" folder update the file T76.lua and change the line which says dofile("Tools.lua") to read dofile("OV-10ATools.lua") 3. Within the same file add an additional line that says dofile("Curve.lua") immediately below the above edit. That is all that it seems is required to permanently fix this issue. Many thanks once again for your time and effort in producing this excellent mod for the community. Regards DD_Friar
  17. Ah yes I have. I suspect that this is a case of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.. So, do scripts in the Hooks directory get run automatically? I do not need to run it? When you said if you are getting errors in multiplayer you run the Gui script, I assumed that is what I had to do. Putting it in the Hooks folder runs it? Also have passed this to work when the server / host is running multi-thread? Many thanks again.
  18. Salute for a fantastic "tweak" to DCS. I am getting the attached error each time I try to start a server using my own machine as the host. Any advise please as to what is causing it? My install is on the F: drive. The lua file it reports to seems to be the script file for the server? stopGapGUI = {} stopGapGUI.version = "1.0.1" stopGapGUI.fVal = -300 -- 5 minutes max block -- -- Server Plug-In for StopGap mission script, only required for server -- Put into (main DCS save folder)/Scripts/Hooks/ and restart DCS -- function stopGapGUI.onPlayerTryChangeSlot(playerID, side, slotID) if not slotID then return end if slotID == "" then return end if not DCS.isServer() then return end if not DCS.isMultiplayer() then return end local gName = DCS.getUnitProperty(slotID, DCS.UNIT_GROUPNAME) if not gName then return end local sgName = "SG" .. gName -- tell all clients to remove this group's statics if they are deployed net.dostring_in("server", " trigger.action.setUserFlag(\""..sgName.."\", " .. stopGapGUI.fVal .. "); ") net.send_chat("+++SG: readying group <" .. sgName .. "> for slotting") end function stopGapGUI.onSimulationStart( ) net.dostring_in("server", " trigger.action.setUserFlag(\"stopGapGUI\", 0); ") if not DCS.isServer() then return end if not DCS.isMultiplayer() then return end net.dostring_in("server", " trigger.action.setUserFlag(\"stopGapGUI\", 200); ") end DCS.setUserCallbacks(stopGapGUI)
  19. Salute, I thought I should add evidence of what I have done so far. For testing I am using AI planes but is intended for players.
  20. Salute I hope the title sparked your interest and was not too confusing. I am currently building a home base for my squad. I had the idea to give the airfield a bit of life of adding some moving ground units. One of the units I am working on is a "Follow Me (skin can be found here https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3300531/ ) unit. My idea is this.. I have parked the unit at the exit path from the hangers. The unit is sat with a "Hold" condition with waypoints that lead to the runway and back to the starting point. The "HOLD" release is triggered by a taxiing plane entering a zone and setting a flag to true. The unit then drives off showing the way to the runway for the plane to follow (its a large airfield with lots of left and rights, and my squad get lost very easily). When the unit has got to the runway it returns to the start point and waits for another plane. The loop will work once but will not start again when the second plane comes along. I have tried adding a zone near the last waypoint that re-sets the flag but this is not working (or more likely I am doing something wrong) Has anyone done something like this before? or can suggest what the structure of the triggers/zones/flags should be? Many thanks in advance DD_Friar
  21. Its all very well taking off from a ship but does it have the ability to find the ship again when it is moving? Does the Apache have the ability to use TCAN?
  22. UPDATE: I have been informed that it has been fixed for the A4-E in version 2.1.1.
  23. Salute, Although this is my first post in this thread and I could have totally got it wrong but you might need the fix I and a squad mate worked out for tanks that had no sound which was caused by certain mod aircraft (although I believe the A4-e has now been fixed in version 2.1.1). The thread is here
  24. @pii I am bringing the nose up and collective down to try and not gain too much altitude
