  1. I don't think so. Don't sit in some small aircraft and sit in Su-27 or Mi-8 and it'll look roomier :)

    GUI Style Poll

For me both look good but: #1 looks easier to read (sometimes background image can blend in with GUI and make little harder to read) #2 looks more suitable for VR where you can see aircraft in the background Ideally if not too much trouble I would like it as an option :) PS: I did not vote as I don't mind either of them
  3. If you turn on v-sync in DCS then you won't ever get 90fps (or more than 60) in sim. With v-sync off in DCS (and in video card driver setting) the FPS is capped at 90 if it can be maintained (as this is the refresh rate of the displays of the Rift (and probably in Vive also). For most fluent experience (if your system can run it this high) 90 fps is better (of course) in which case you want v-sync off. If you want try both and see which one you proffer. For me I think I've come to like leaving v-sync off and allowing rift to run at 90fps where possible (in Nevada map most parts of the man can do it as there are not many object on it. But near cities forget about getting 90, if you can get 45 there consider it good.
  4. I've noticed the same and reported to Leatherneck already. The feedback was that real pilot can't move his head in the MiG-21 like this in the first place so that it wasn't a big issue, so not sure if they will do anything about it. I agree when canopy is closed you should not be able to stick your head like this, but with canopy open and not strapped in, you might :) so anyway, wait and see.
  5. You can get in between 45 and 90 fps if you enable v-sync in DCS, but then you won't be able to get 90fps
  6. Full on gloves that work in 3D are instant buy for me when they are released :) I wonder about the extra cables with them that will need to run from the glove to the PC... maybe a suitable suit to run the cables through is needed also? :)
  7. I've never used OpenTrack so don't know how it works. Would it hurt to uninstall it also?
  8. I've uninstalled my TrackIR software fully. I see no need for it any more.
  9. I didn't say I don't like it, I only said that resolution is still too low, I've tried pixel density at 1.5 and 2.0 and it's little better but only little. Spotting aircraft is very hard. I am honest about it, and while immersion with it is really good, it lacks in resolution a lot... I can't even use any FSAA as that reduces FPS quite a bit, at 4x FSAA my FPS is halved. Flying helicopters is definitely more suitable, but fighting in jets where merge is fast and missiles dangerous, and AI is still all seeing within 10km range, you are at quite disadvantage with VR, this version of consumer product anyway. There is no point saying how awesome it is without being honest about its bad sides also. When FPS is high I see no blurring at all, and it feels super smooth even when rolling fast or looking around quickly, but I have to keep settings low-ish and can't use any FSAA. I have to turn off mirrors, one good thing is keeping shadows on low still looks good in the pit. Anyway, like I said, it's not that I don't like it, but I am well aware of the downsides also... and that's all I'm saying ;)
  10. I am not fan of P-51 but I have to say that just looks great. Izgleda genijalno ;)
  11. After having the OR for some 2 weeks now, and the novelty wore off, I can definitely say that this 1st gen of VR headsets are not good enough to fly DCS as I would with monitor (especially with large 4K TV). The clarity is just not there, the resolution is just too low. The FoV needs to increase to or close to 180° and I think there really needs to be 4K resolution on the screen, per eye. Then again the PC has to be able to run it on at least 40-50fps to be smooth enough. Big ask, and I don't see this happening in the next few years. Having said this, the VR is good for where you don't need to read text in cockpit, depend on visual spotting of targets from larger distance, I mean for me I even start losing tally on aircraft in merge after some 2.5km, smaller aircraft even 2km... you really need to keep constant track of the aircraft, if not, you will lose him, and then pretty much impossible to spot him again unless he's close to you (but at close distance in dogfight aircraft position changes too quick making it even harder). The feeling of presence is the only really good thing in my opinion... well clearly as this is what VR is supposed to add. Well also its easy to setup, works great with DCS also. I also don't feel dizzy when I fly. But for me to fly as easy as I can on large 4K TV I think hopefully 3rd gen of VR headset might be good enough to achieve this... but who knows when, and if VR will catch on that quick to the masses in order to develop quickly.
  12. Nothing to worry if you do :smilewink:
  13. er.... sorry but no :D Nothing against you but I don't plan to ever use it for anything, if I could I would never run it :)
  14. Good choice and I also completely agree with painting gloss, I would not do it as BrassEm already explains, it shows every mark, imperfection and it also shows very clearly any little dust that you will get on it withing seconds :) Satin Black + dark grey is perfect I think... now waiting for the photos when painted :)
  15. They are still there, just harder to see/notice them.
  16. hm... I'll have to try the MiG-21 one :)
  17. I would coat that in grey if you can, it'll give more contrast to the setup, black will just make it "dissapear" :D
  18. USB mode is for Gametrix seat, which plugs into USB port, while Sound mode is for ButtKicker (and similar) device which plug into sound card speaker output.
  19. I've been prompted today to update Rift's Firmware, and it updated it to version 708 / 34a904e8da I have no idea what the changes are
  20. That would maybe be the closest I would get to becoming famous :D
  21. Strap yourself into the chair like pilots do and you won't be able to do this.
  22. That's coming along pretty decent. Too bad the 3D printing is not more fine.
  23. MiG-29 up close and personal, when viewed in 3D with VR, it's so awesome. I even stuck my head under landing gear compartment, main and front landing gear, and it feels like I am right in it :) Detail is great. I think some bump mapping could make it look even better... but you have to see it in VR.
  24. I tried full vertical stall in F-15 and after I went into a spin ans spin more I felt no discomfort. I am sure it is because yeven if you are spinning in all directions because you have steady reference point... the cockpit you dont feel disconnected with what you see in VR. But with nothing around you fixed when you move the view with the mouse near terrain and buildings/objects around you its different. At least for me it is.
