  1. What he is getting at (because you must have missed it) was that people cannot just be happy with what these guys worked so hard to put out. They'd prefer that BST put out a fantasy version of their AC or maybe an X wing fighter or something. All the while, forgetting that this isn't Battlefield, or COD. It is designed as a sim. And in fact, I came to DCS because I was pretty tired of the 12 year olds who dominate those other games. And I wanted a little reality in my gaming. As I read through the thread I was reminded of my 6 year old boy. When I go out and buy him a cool Lego set, he's immediately asking me for a better Lego set. He isn't happy that someone took the time and money to give him something to make him happy. But.....He's 6 and he'll grow out of that and stop looking a gift horse in the mouth. So this thread isn't sad really.....It's just childish. Kind of like those guys who spend their whole time in the servers flying F15's because they're fast and easy to fly. You know the one's who are always buzzing the airfields, crashing into people who really want to fly because they're acting "childish". And cluttering up the runways, crashing because they never learned to land correctly. Not that I am saying you are one of those people. That's just what this thread brings to my mind.
  2. I'm no pilot, but I own most of the DCS modules. I pre purchased a lot of them. I have seen some very good initial releases and some no so good initial releases. And although I know after several years with ED that all modules eventually make it to staller performance status and standards. The F-5 (IMO) is the best initial release AC thus far. I cannot speak to a few of the planes (L-39, M2000, and the Mig21) but upon it's preview release, the F-5 has been just wonderful. Being just a regular guy who cannot put hours into simming, I do not particularly know what all of the perks in this plane are as opposed to others. All that I do know is that I love flying this plane and in my book, it's a lot more fun than say...the F15 where you don't have full cockpit functionality but you have the performance. I don't fly the F15 very often for that reason, but I do love the F-5 and will fly it often. I just gotta learn all that business with the flap and wing positions. I suppose I'll have to read the manual. Thanks so much Belsimtek!!! And once again, I am sooooo sorry to have ever hassled you over the past years for silly issues. I have long since learned my lesson. You have come through every time for all of us. So Thanks!!!!!!!!
  3. Sorry guys!!! Did not see the other thread on this issue. You can just delete this thread.
  4. For me, it is very enjoyable to go up on a server and fly. I have a few servers that are on my fave's list and have been going to those servers for years now. Although there have always been lag issues, bugs, and problems. Since this last update it's nearly impossible to fly consistently on the internet. The old "server timed out" is the biggest culprit right now. Not just for me but for a vast majority of people flying there. I shut down all of my computer's defenses to try and see if the problem were on my end. But still, so many connection issues. And it's very common now for everyone. I have heard over the past years from many a server owner about how they do not like the way E.D. handles internet issues. And to be honest and fair, I understand so little about all of that stuff that I could not tell you if their complaints are valid or not. All of the issues they cry about could all be on their end and they don't know how to handle them. But I do know that after the last update the internet has become somewhat of a nightmare for me and many of my flight buddies. And, whenever I get out of a server and shut DCS down, I'm back to "DCS has Stopped working" again. This does not happen when I fly off line. Do any of you have these issues, or if you did have them, did you find a solution. Is it an E.D. issue or is it something that we as internet pilots should be doing to prevent all of this?
  5. This feature came a couple of updates ago. It seems to have replaced chase view.
  6. Yes...Thanks for pointing out my typo....lol
  7. Hey guys, in the startup tutorial, when it comes to engine start, the tutorial instructs you to use Rshift+home to set the left engine to idle. Well....I did this several times with no success. I then realized that RShift+home is right engine idle. The Ralt+ home is the correct key binding. Maybe I'm crazy, but I went through it several times and it's Lshift+home in the instructions. Just be aware of this.
  8. What I find with that training module is that when you very first get into the mission, you pick the plane on the right and full RPM and throttle up to his 6 oclock. You will be around .3 from him at that point. He'll bank right and you place your nose ahead of him. If you want to catch an enemy plane, put your nose to the front of that plane as it banks. The further in front you put it, the faster you will catch him. Don't just trail him or stay behind him, lead on him, act like you are going around him no matter what direction he goes. You will usually catch up to him fairly quickly. When he makes that first bank to the right, if you do this, you will catch up to him. He'll then bank to the left and slow down. At that point, you will have to slow down just to stop from hitting him. You can then take your shot. Now!!! If you want to lose ground on him, point your plane behind his tail. This will cause you to acquire more distance between you and him. After a while....you get the feel of it. Be sure (if you are using the flower and not the fixed site) that you make the flower the correct size as per his distance or you will have a much harder time hitting and leading your shots into him. I had the same issues that you are having until I figured this stuff out. And for the record, the AI can and will occasionally just outrun you. At that point, there isn't much you can do. The AI is set up on a different dynamic as you and it will out perform you if it wants to. Especially if it decides to just make a straight run away from you. It does not do this very often in training but it does happen once in a while. But if it banks, you usually can catch up with it.
  9. I had that same exact texture fill the whole inside of my A10C in 2.0 once. It had that digital camo and "missing texture" or something like that written on it. I got out of the mission and DCS altogether and when I came back into the mission, it was gone. It only happened that one time. Really strange.
  10. Speaking of sticks and rudders: I just got the CH pro rudder pedals. It seems that I cannot assign the toe brakes to it with the 190, or the 109. Is there a way to do this? Am I missing something?
  11. My bank card is already warmed up and ready to go for the Spitfire. Can't wait!!! But will the new variant of the Mustang be an update or will it be released as it's own module??
  12. Wow.....That seems like it would be even harder to get into a comfortable place. I'm pretty fond of being able to go one click left, or right or whatever. But I guess that in the P51 and other planes, it is actually set to a dial, so It makes sense.
  13. Yes....I stated that in my initial post on that thread. I did it with the 109's not focused, and the 109's as the bombers as the only objective. Did not make much difference in my scenarios. Yeah....watching the fights, it did not take much from the 109's to down the Mustangs. And I was told at the time that the simplified dynamics of the AI planes were probably why the 109's won a majority of the time. I love flying the 109, 190, and Mustang. But I never use the German planes for ground support. They're not all that great at it. And, I never dogfight with the mustang unless it's against another Mustang. The outcome is very satisfactory to me. I'm not a 4 hour a day flier. I might have an hour a day to dedicate to it and sometimes I'm on the road and won't do it for weeks. So I am a hardly an expert on what flies better than what. I'm OK with that.
  14. Thx guys!!! At least I know that it's probably not in my system. I'll just ride it out and see if a patch fixes it.
  15. Just my input (for what it's worth). I fly with no pilot and I also go into the settings and remove the stick. It is directly in front of the bubble. I hate to keep trying to look around it.
  16. Exactly. It's nice to not have to have your hands on the stick and light up a smoke, or whatever (Figuratively speaking) but I have never found a true sweet spot in any AC on any sim.
  17. Svend could be completely correct. I have had the same issues and the problem was that my rudders were bound to my pedals and my stick at the same time. Have a look and see if that isn't the case here. :joystick:
  18. Not to pour salt on this gaping wound. But I just have to answer to this post. In one of my posts about this issue in the past. I specifically went into detail about how I did exactly what you are saying. I did this at your request (Sith). And I posted the results in that forum thread. And out of the 5 identical missions I ran using all IA AC, P-51 against ME 109. The 109 came out victorious in 4 of the 5 missions. And in two of those cases, they took all 5 of the Mustangs without a single casualty. And in one of the missions, they broke even. SO my findings are completely different. I tried these missions under different configurations and results always came out in favor of the 109. I'm not saying that you are wrong or complaining about it. I just get completely different results. I pretty much have accepted that the P-51 is not on par with the German planes and just don't fly it against them anymore. And as one person posted, the ideology on line with people who do not post here is that the P51 isn't worth the time or energy. And again....I'm only going on what I see and hear on TS and in servers. I enjoy the way the P-51 flies. I love putting it in a ground support scenario. It's a lot of fun. But I won't dogfight in it. It's not a contest, it's a suicide. I am no expert on the flight dynamics of these planes. I do not spend time researching it in depth. All I know is that from what I have read about these planes and seen WWII pilots say, the P51 seems to underperform. yet I have been argued to death on this by DCS and many people. Evidently my lack of knowledge is misleading me and causing my gap in the understanding of the whole thing. I accept that and I accept that the P51 is the much weaker fighter of the 3 planes. But it's kind of hard when others are saying that it is equal to the others. If it is.....I could never pull that kind of performance out of it. My opinions are just that .....opinions. But my test results were real, and I know that I saw. Even though it was different than what Sith saw in his testing.
  19. I can see where it would be a very helpful addition to DCS. However, I find it a bit annoying and not very useful most of the time ( for me). I like to have as much situational awareness as possible when flying, especially against an adversary. It's only fair given that you really are operating with very limited visual capabilities, and you do not have the sense of physical sensation. So any extra help is a good thing. But I don't need to have to keep pushing even more buttons in flight to turn this thing on and off if needed. I am assuming that once I get oriented to it, it may become much less of an irritant and probably will eventually become something I take for granted. But for now.....an on off option would be nice.
  20. I appreciate the link. I downloaded it but it wouldn't really run. Just kept telling me that it stopped working whenever I tried to use it. I believe this is because it's around 12 years old and I'm running Windows 10, 64bit. But it prompted me to go look for another separate calibration tool. So it was helpful. Something very strange about all of this though and it may just be the latest version of DCS that's the cause of this. I see posts where people are having issue with assigning keys and bindings. I too am having a bit of that issue. And when I try to set parameters for my axis commands, that's when the issue of the sliders comes into play. However, when I go in game and do a visual of when I'm using my sliders in practical application in the AC, all of the assigned controls move freely and go exactly as they're suppose to. But when I go back to the settings page, they're still binding up. So now I am in the process of figuring out what's really going on. Again, I do not have this issue in any other sim that I fly. It's a real puzzle to me.
  21. I just started back to DCS after a couple of months not flying. I thought I had lost my marbles when I could not keep any of the choppers on any kind of even plain while flying some of the time. One time I would fly and all would be great, the next time I would fly and the craft would be unmanageable. I finally got fed up with the issue and when I investigated, I found that my axis commands aren't acting as they should. It seems that in the controls editor, when I assign my throttle to either of the slider knobs on the X52 HOTAS, and rotate it to adjust the in game command, it does not go to the fullest extent of the required range. It sometimes only goes 2/3 of the way, and if I rotate it again, it may go only half way, and the next time I rotate, it will go all of the way. It's very inconsistent. It does this in both directions. If I just move the slider back and forth, every time it goes back and forth, it goes to a different degree no matter if I max it out or not. I have reinstalled the driver, I've deleted my DCS saved profiles and reset new ones, done a DCS repair, yet nothing fixes this issue. I tried the same thing in Xplane and the problem does not exist there. Nor does it show up in the Saitek software. This problem has never presented itself before. That I know of anyway. AHhhhhhh!!! Maybe it actually has!!!! Perhaps this is why I have complained so much about the P-51 not getting to 20,000 feet without major issues, and possibly why I have experienced underperformance in many AC. HOLY FRIGGIN COW!!!! If I can fix this....It may cure all of my DCS woes!!! Has anyone had this issue with the X52 and DCS before?? Any ideas??
  22. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VapSXJvS-yo[/ame] I'm very sorry but I have to take a brake from this for a while. There is a list of issues with this update but I'll just go with this one for now. Last night I was 1 hour or more just getting into the game. Terrible lag (as you can see....my rig handles the game just fine), the game just opens crappy every other time, game opening in small screen, just crazy stuff. After a long and frustrating ordeal, I went to check the Hawk out as it was suppose to be updated. I started the mission with the engines off......Have a listen. The track IR is just terrible, but only for the Hawk (was in a dark room when this video was done so Track IR was working great). Not for any other module. But the video has a pretty strange conclusion. In the video, I am clearly in the NTTR map, when I go to leave......pay close attention to where I ended up. Whenever I post anything on the forums, If I'm typing for more than 2 minutes, I have to save everything I have typed, and copy it back into the box because I get booted from the forums. I have addressed this with ED before and they have never given me any idea of why. And it gets tiresome. My game still goes non full screen and goes out of sync when I go to full screen, still stops working on shutdown much of the time. I'm not being a jerk here but come on ED........I'm paying you guys to use this. It isn't working at all. I'll be back in 6 months or so. Maybe you will have it together by then. If not.....I'm just moving on to something else.
  23. He is taking guitar lessons from me. James Taylor....stuff like that.
  24. From what I know, the Pave Penny's primary functions have been replaced by the TGP. Either way, I don't use laser designation or any of that stuff really when I fly the A10. I am much more into the old school planes. Although the A10 is a lot of fun, quite frankly, after a while it just isn't as challenging TO ME as the simple systems of the WWII or even the Korean era AC. Pushing buttons and looking at screens gets a little too routine for me. I enjoy the A10 but not nearly as much as many of the other AC here.
