  1. Exactly!
  2. I always completely turn off all virus protection when I fly DCS. Thus far it has done nothing to make the server issue any better. It's all good.......they'll figure it out.
  3. LOL..... I'm kind of on the fence with DCS right now. I still come back to see what the updates are bringing. I take flights off line just for fun every week or so. I know it'll all get sorted out and fixed down the road, but sometimes it's best just to put it down for a while. Especially when the frustration sets in. THAT'S when people start getting their rights taken.
  4. I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch. AI isn't going to get much smarter than it is now for any flight sim in the foreseeable future. DCS isn't the only simulation software with this issue. It's not solvable at this point. Giving AI any real ability above what's already been given them will take enormous resources from your computer. That's not likely to change any time soon. People get so frustrated with AI in DCS but I have to say that DCS does a better job than most with their AI development.
  5. Yeah....That occurred to me also. I was just wondering if they somehow incorporated and option for the ground troops to do it without having to anything through the ME.
  6. Hey guys! Glad to have the troop embark feature back. I surely missed it. As I'm messing around with it, I am finding that there is no way for them to mark their location for me. The menu no longer gives the option for signal smoke. does anyone know if it's changed and if it can still be done? Thanks:thumbup:
  7. This seems to be a trend with many DCS fans these days. Many people are getting kind of fed up with long standing issues that never seem to get fixed while new products get released with whole new sets of issues that my never get addressed. This is part of the reason that I don't rush to purchase new modules any more. I always have to weigh the bugs / cons against how much I really want to play around with the module. Eventually I purchase probably 50% of them. Planes like the F18 don't even register with me because I'm not really into high tech aircraft and the aggravation of this, that, or the other not working properly doesn't outweigh my desire to play around with it. The C101 didn't cost much, it's not complicated by any means, and it's bugs are minor IMO. So I don't really mind the flight model. Although, I tend to agree that it has been a while and there seems to be no solution in sight. So I see the point there.
  8. I kind of think it's a bit overstated right now, and in need of some more tweaking. I hope so anyway. I'm all for limiting things to add to the realism or whatever. But as it is now, it's a bit too easy to bring on the catastrophic engine failure.
  9. This issue has always plagued the Gazelle for me. And like the OP, it was very difficult to correct movement while flying without overcompensation. So yes! I get it. I have used the X52, X55, and CH pro setup with the Gazelle and this issue still pops up. So if it's hardware......I don't have a clue as to which setup would work. My dendancy is to believe that it's the FM. I have played endlessly with the settings and found no solution. I mentioned it on the forums when it first came out and a whole bunch of "real world Gazelle pilots" came out of the woodwork telling me that it's a sensitive bird and that it was correct. In the end, I just got use to it. I fly it OK but not great, and learned how to compensate gently. Much as I like the chopper itself, I don't think that this issue is natural for any aircraft. And in my opinion, it is the FM. As is with all DCS FM's, there are quirks and issues. I do not believe that any of them no matter how well done are true to their real life counterparts. I don't concern myself with what I believe should be real any more. You cannot expect that from anyone. So, I just learn how to adjust to what I'm presented with. I can't complain, DCS is the best sim out there. No other sim has come close to what ED has done.
  10. Wow!!! Really? I just set up a mission and wasn't able to pull up the coms menu for troops. I'll give it another try this evening. Maybe I missed something in the advanced menu or something like that. Thanks for that feedback.:smilewink:
  11. C'mon guys......Seriously, it's time to address this issue.
  12. Yes......I agree. I don't fly the Mi8 often and probably not since the last 3 updates, but it's pretty ugly in the Gazelle.
  13. What??? No update today? I'm so disappointed! LOL.....just kidding!
  14. Your glass my friend........will always be half full. :smilewink:
  15. This is a big fear of mine. My pooter is getting older and I know my time is limited. Thankfully, 2.5 runs pretty well on my rig so I have a little more time. I cannot see purchasing a whole new setup unless something catastrophic happens and I cannot work on it. After all.......it's not really a gaming rig. DCS is just a low priority hobby for the most part.
  16. OK.....so here we go. Anyone wishing to offer up opinions? Remember, this post is all my humble opinion. My first impression.......WOW! Impressive! Honestly! a lot smoother than I thought it would be. At very first, I really didn't see much difference from 1.5 Georgia (except trees......lots of friggin trees). But E.D. was on to something with those trees. They make a world of difference. As you glide along the landscape, the movement of the passing foliage that seems to be "everywhere" makes the whole flight experience come to life as it almost feels as though the perspective ratio has improved. Otherwise: The distant scenery moves and passes in a much more cohesive manner against the trees. Movement feels much more fluid. So I cannot stress enough how much the trees help the old 1.5 map. And then.........I set it up for October. Woa!!! If you like autumn, you'll love the new seasonal features in 2.5. Again, outstanding. The buildings look good. I personally don't see a ton of difference. There are some new buildings ans textures but from what I see, they really don't seem to make or break Caucasus. However....I use to wonder why I did not appreciate the urban areas of 1.5 against Nevada. Today I figured out why. Blacktop. Caucasus never really had a whole lot of hard surface down there. Huge factories would just be plopped down into a green pasture. I noticed today that they added this much needed feature to many of the new buildings. It really ads to the landscape. Some of the things I found kind of strange about Caucasus are still there. Nuclear plants every couple of miles always kind of make me chuckle. They're still there. But to the defense of E.D. I have never been there and for all I know every house has a nuclear cooling tower. Some of the roof tops are a little bright for me, and when you get up in elevation the trees look a little funny. 2.5 seems to be a bit twitchy on my rig but it's still much better than the first time I flew on Normandy so I can't really complain. I won't complain anyway because for a first day beta map, I'm pretty stoked about it over all. Great job guys! And I really appreciate what you did here!:P
  17. Yeah......but I'm taking the W.I.P. approach to the whole thing. It's open beta, first day. We'll see what the feedback brings.
  18. lol....after crying that I was going to wait till the dust settles.....I'm friggin downloading it right now. I'm such a whimp!!
  19. I decided to hold off on the download until all of the feedback is in. Any major change like this has inevitable problems and issues. Plus, I'm interested to see how much it taxes user's systems. Since the on line play in the current version isn't worth spit at this point and is useless to me right now, I can hold off until the dust settles.
  20. I was tempted to purchase it this morning when I saw that it was in pre order but then I remembered that I need to see how 2.5 is going to work on my pooter first. I don't have a high end rig and am a little worried about how 2.5 will run on it, so I'll buy it as soon as I find out how 2.5 runs. If it doesn't do well.......there's no reason to drop any more $$$ into it.
  21. Please correct me if I am wrong here......Isn't 2.5 suppose to be released on 18 Jan? Thus....7 days until it's release (if all goes to plan). Not trying to start a wide spread frenzy or anything.......OK, so I am. Am I wrong here?
  22. Yes....I could find no connection between the two occurrences so I assumed it was coincidence. Just made the comment. This did not happen in 1.5, it was in 2.0. I never fly the 1.5 map. Oh......but it is up to date by the way.
  23. I noticed this issue today. I accidentally hit F9 and it just went away. Very strange........
  24. All I can say is: I loves my prop wash back in the Stang!!!! Thanks for that one ED. I love the new engine sounds, new gun sounds, and the overall improvements. Sith.....I hate to differ on this so I'll just downgrade the God aweful to just plain terrible. When I'm looking at my ground targets (especially the ones shooting at me) and everything turns black for several seconds because of the canopy, it's pretty terrible. I do see the effect they're going for and to it's merit, it would be pretty cool if they perfected it. But you said it's being looked into so I'm cool with it. Everything else is great! Thanks a lot ED. Can't wait till the 18th or whatever.
  25. I enjoy it. Looks great. Flies well. The few bugs that I have encountered since I've owned it were fixed quickly or are not very problematic. I would recommend this module to anyone.
