  1. You could load 4 Hellfires and 1 Sidewinder instead of going all or nothing.
  2. I wasn't planning on buying the AH-1G due to no antitank capability and role overlap with the UH-1H. AH-1S is definitely an improvement, and AH-1W would be a day one buy for me. I actually prefer the AH-1 over the AH-64.
  3. Higher ground detail that will come with EDGE and maps like the NTTR should help improve the sensation of speed.
  4. Everything is subject to change.
  5. For this reason, I would advocate not scaling targets that are more than a few pixels across. If it is so small that you don't see it, then it is throwing you off as much as the false speed judgement would. It should just help you see that there is a target in a certain direction, and then as you get closer (or zoom in) you should be able to make an accurate speed judgement.
  6. One of the problems with directly simulating the narrow angle of focus is that the computer has no way of knowing what part of the screen your eyes are looking at. You do not play DCS with your eyes constantly boresighted. The view direction represents head motion, not eye motion, and your eyes naturally have less acuity on the parts of the screen that you are not looking at. Smart scaling is supposed to compensate for the little rectangle with limited resolution that we play through. Generally we play at an unrealistically wide viewing angle when not actively scanning for targets, so we can easily miss targets that we would have noticed in real life. Zooming in when scanning for targets is not a good way of representing limited visual acuity because it very incorrectly chops off our entire peripheral vision. A reasonable solution to account for limited visual acuity would be to scale up less than it would have.
  7. It was more of a guess list than a request. The stuff in my post was just drawn from various web sources with questionable credibility after about an hour of searching. Many people are under the impression that the Mirage 2000C RDI has no air to ground capability, and it can be difficult to find good information, but I have evidence that the RDI was developed with ground attack capability in mind. I am more interested in what the airplane is technically capable of than what the French actually equipped it with. Since the French have the D, they generally have no need of loading bombs on the C model, but we will not have a D, so it will be nice to have something to fill the gap until we do. M2M has recently posted images of unguided bombs, rocket pods, and Exocets (presumably for the Greek variant) on their development page. The ARMAT would be a nice addition to that, but it is already a good arsenal for what is primarily an interceptor.
  8. This thread is old, so I will just answer for you now and let other people tell me I am wrong later. Bouncing on landing means your vertical speed was too high. If you get the flare just right then you can land without a bounce. As long as you can stop safely without damaging the plane then don't worry about it too much. You will get better with practice. A three point landing is when the tail wheel touches the ground at the same time as the main gear. Some people might insist it is the "correct" way to land, but it is easier to lose control and damage the plane that way. I figure if it is correct to take off on two wheels, then I might as well land on two wheels. Just do whichever you feel more comfortable with.
  9. This only seems to be a problem for SFM planes. Anything using an EFM, AFM, or PFM should be fine. It's just something the mission designer would need to keep in mind.
  10. I think a better question is why not.
  11. A couple of new 3ds Max renders from the Metal2Mesh development Facebook page show some of the ground attack loadout of the Mirage 2000. I believe the Exocet in the second screenshot is intended for the Greek variant.
  12. While I would say the Ka-50 should win with its computer controlled 30 mm cannon, the Huey AI gunners in DCS are terminator snipers, and the four miniguns can shred most targets short of tanks. I don't think Huey door gunner AI works without a human pilot though, and I have not tested the Huey AI effectiveness vs. air targets. The Mi-8 would clearly lose since it only has fixed guns.
  13. If this is restricted to certain pledge levels then an alternate method of acquiring the SDK would be nice since it may have been the deciding factor for some pledgers and we could not have anticipated the correct pledge level prior to the changes.
  14. When talking about general rules of game design regarding what people want, one should be reminded that Angry Birds has sold more copies than DCS.
  15. Open C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\terrain\low.lua (assuming you are on low settings, otherwise modify Medium.lua or High.lua) Change all of these to 0.0; and make sure you keep the semicolons. treesFarDistance = 0.0; treesFarFullBlendRenderDistance = 0.0; treesFarFullRenderDistance = 0.0; treeslodDistance = 0.0; I have not tested this, but I assume it will work.
  16. Based on my order IDs, I am fairly sure that the order numbers are incremental, so order ID 11 is probably the 11th purchase ever made from the E-shop. You need to register your products for the bonus. There is a button for doing that in the first link of my other post. You can get your order IDs from the second link.
  17. Your bonus amount can be found here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/account/ You can find your product Order ID (for bonus registration) on this page: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/order/
  18. I think the extended bonus expiration time will be long enough for those "NEW" tags to expire before the bonus does. The bonus system isn't really meant for "Must have" purchases anyway. I am definitely buying the F-18C day one full price, but I am still undecided about buying the F-86F. Once the NEW tag is gone, having a 30% discount every time I look at it might sway me into a purchase. Basically: If you can't wait for the NEW tag to go away, then buy it at full price. Full price purchases are the only way to increase your bonus account anyway.
  19. You will probably get a free AI controlled version.
  20. I can confirm this bug. I have tried landing on the US carrier with the Su-33, an F-18 mod, and an F-4 mod. All three airplanes get bounced back into the air as soon as the hook catches. Landing on the US carrier with a hook is impossible. If I had to guess, I would say the cable force is simply oriented the wrong direction and pushes the player up instead of backwards.
  21. Why is the RAZBAM T-2 not in this poll?
  22. Best news ever. I am so happy about this that I am not even going to complain about anything.
  23. A bit redundant when btd already has the soundtrack on Soundcloud. The F-86 track is up now too:
