Wow, tell me more about that.
-
I agree. I have the CH pack and since COVID forced unemployed, upgrading the pots to contactless is by far a friendlier bugdet option than £270 Thurstmaster stuff for me. My only complaint in the lack of 2 stage trigger as well.

It has been like this since day 1. It's what they call "Open Beta Simulation Game". Flying is just a small feature. The real product is bug hunting and reporting. If modules were to finish or no new modules being introduced as EA, then Open Beta Simulation would loose it's purpose, its raison d'être.

You can drop bombs and fire missiles. But there are chronic problems with FM and G-Loc that prevents one from using the Viper to its potential. Also there are reported problems still not verified by dev team that apparently the viper and possibly most A/C in game had wrong speed values at the very core of the game engine. Also, everything is more or less incomplete. For example, you can drop LGBs, but you must fire the laser manually all the way. You can use A2A override modes, but they don't seem to auto-lock targets.

Contrails at a distance also seem to have this problem.

Ok, I just tested it and no, what you're saying doesn't work. I guess anybody without a 2 stage trigger joystick, by default, has the 2nd trigger detent already assigned to the Trigger button, because ofcourse, it fires the gun. But, when in CCRP, pressing the trigger does not fire the laser. So, again, what I'm asking is a "special for joystick assignment" where pressing the trigger in CCRP mode only, fires the laser.
-
Exactly. It already works by default somewhat like that. When in CCRP mode, if you press the trigger it won't fire the gun (I think by default it will turn the hud camera on). To use the gun one can press NWS/MSL STEP Button in A-G mode to change from CCRP to Gun. So, what I'm suggesting here is a "Special for Joystick" button assignment that when in CCRP mode specifically, the trigger will fire the laser as in the 1st trigger detent. In whatever other mode, the trigger acts as the 2nd trigger detent.
-
But with that, someone without a 2-stage trigger capable joystick is unable to fire gun anymore, correct?

Agreed with all 3 alternatives but would include 2 more: Motherboard and CPU I'd go with a new B550 and a current Ryzen 7/9 series even tho the nextgen Ryzen chips are probably less than one year away.

Will this be available for Steam users?

Regarding June 19th F-14 trial, will it be available for Steam users? -

Not really, you can have a game in your library, even play it regularly, but not follow it. -

Yes mate, and it's very nice, I even tried it once. It was a A2A server with BVR, so in my first dogfight I faced a F-15C in my F-16, and as soon as we were in range, the guy on the other side fired all of his AMRAAMs at once and as soon as he saw that none hit me, he ejected. Very fun! -
Well, the DCS community is also well known for their hardware spending obsession and appetite for ultra grade quality stuff, isn't it. It's not an uncommon sight in this forum to see people spending 4+ figures in hardware alone.

I have to disagree there mate. They look the same or better than DCS. DCS is an old engine which still uses very old technology. Edit: And btw, regarding procedurally generated noise, well, all these flight sim engines are required to use very low resolution heightmaps so to start up with, even DCS is already very far from your stated "keep as much correlation with actual terrain as possible" when so little details are actually in the data. Using procedural noise technology can only be beneficial for it adds (in-game) detail to where it should have had if the data had better resolution in the first place.

Well said there mate! If you like virtual flying and employing it tactically, then DCS might not be the game for you. If you like "Open Beta Simulation", like many of the other simulations nowadays (computer building simulation, farming simulation, even work simulation!), then DCS is perfect for you. You'll have a plétora of bugs to discover and report and the best thing of it, modules seem to never be finished so you can play "open beta simulation" basically, forever! :joystick: -
Without knowing at which point you left, it's difficult to list what was introduced since, but for certain, nothing or pretty much not much is currently being developed or introduced, currently or lately. The F-16 is in the shadows.

I'd like to request this new hotas "special for joystick" assignment - 2 Stage Trigger where the trigger acts as the Laser activation while in CCRP A-G mode and as the normal gun trigger in all other modes.
-
You can use AIM-9 in Uncaged mode where the aim-9 diamond will follow HMCS cursor and lock automatically to a heat source.
