Why did you break your windows? I'm still using the CH software in Win10, although I read somewhere that you can simply calibrate it via windows itself and skip CH app.

Sometime ago I tried the "Attack Group" using a a flight of AI Apaches and couldnt get them to fire either. Perhaps "Attack Group" is just broken like most things.

It makes me sad to see 'hitpoints'. More so to see the fanboys fight for "full realism" for things like weapons loadouts, rivet counting, water droplets, avionics colors, but ignore, deny or simply shun that everything outside of the cockpits in DCS World Core, is very unrealistic, shallow and simplified.

UGRADE TO A 500gb SSD or go to 32gb RAM

+1 My first wish in this list is to have the AI to behave according to the same laws of physics as human units. It is quite extensively documented how the AI in DCS perform like UFOs. This means for example that it's nearly impossible in the current config for a human unit to be a AI flight's wingman for example when the AI is, among other things, incapable of flying in formation without cheating. Also, talking about AI flight's wingman, the AI should be capable of leading a flight with human units. Jester and Falcon BMS are enough proof that this possible.

The idea is sound for sure, but as everything in DCS, there's nothing preventing ED from breaking stuff after every update.

DCS Filling Up My Computer Hard Drive

Well, everything is more or less like this, for example, VR shaders. :music_whistling: -
Apache, cough cough. :music_whistling:

I was forced to reduce it to 4.2 because, unlike with all the other games I had (DCS, Steel Beasts Assetto Corsa, Squad, Arma 3..., Oculus app was constantly crashing until I figured out that it didnt like much overclock. The Z87 was the #1 reason why I switched to my current system. It doesnt support SSD booting. Back then, I even tried upgrading to a Z97, which I found used on ebay, but when it arrived I noticed that some of the pins in the CPU slot were slightly bent; I didnt risk it and just sent it back along with a bad feedback. That was a difficult decision for me. The 4770k is a ****ing great cpu, even today after all these years and I would have kept it if I could get SSD booting with it. But there seem to be no way of getting a Z97s these days, not for a reasonable price. I mean, I paid almost the same price for that borked used Z97 as I paid for my current B450 Gaming Pro Carbon (new)! On low-med or low in VR looks about the same. It looks like VR after all. I'm not there because of the graphics but because of the incredible immersion that it provides. The difference between low-VR and med-high monitor is pretty wide. The terrain and lighting look a whole lot better in the monitor; even if my monitor is just a simple 24" 1080p 144hz: nothing fancy there. How many fps are you getting with the 970? IMO, your case is a difficult one. Unless you're getting pretty bad fps, if I was you, I'd switch to a new system altogether (motherboard, CPU and RAM) with SSD native support, even if that means keeping that 970 of yours. The reason are the loading times. You might not get a noticeable fps boost, but the loading times are a world apart and for it me made all the difference specially because I mainly play in VR and the wait while you're in the headset during loading is pretty shyt and very long with HDDs. It's constantly desyncing and while it loads its badly stuttering, freezing and performing at very low fps which sometimes even causes me headaches. So in the end I chose better loading times instead of the better fps. I paid about 450 pounds for my B450 + R5 3600 + RAM + SSD.

I know the Viper is still rough early access, but good job...
stormrider replied to panton41's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I can't prove it, but it feels that something changed a few updates ago and the F-16 became very sluggish indeed. -
DCS Filling Up My Computer Hard Drive
stormrider replied to msmith301's topic in Installation Problems
You can save a few Gbs by deleting some of the useless skins that are included in the default installation. -
Was he fired already or perhaps they moved him to the F-18 as well?

Why not? -
Are you on a Z87 or later? I had a very similar system up to late last year. It seems you have a golden silicon CPU there. I couldn't push mine 4770k farther than 4.3GHz, especially not for VR. Usually kept at 4.2GHz. Later on, I replaced my GTX970 for a 1070TI and had quite a performance boost. Don't have the numbers but it went from 'VR barely played' at low to very very smooth at low-med.

EW neglection -> unfair advantage? (F-14/F-18/F-16)

I had the impression that it would still use 90ft as the minimum. Are you sure that the AI will fly at a MSL lower than 90ft AGL?

How do I use radio to communicate with wingman?
stormrider replied to Matic_Prime's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I can't be sure, but I bet radio simulation is only a rough simplification in DCS. Not even the radar simulation takes frequency physics into account in DCS. -

Customer satisfaction Poll (mods delete if inappropriate)
stormrider replied to Bagpipe's topic in Chit-Chat
June 25th. 45% of the sampled DCS customers are NOT satisfied. I hope ED start taking notes.
