Mirage Round-table- Discussions, tactics, videos
ttaylor0024 replied to ttaylor0024's topic in M-2000
Knew it right when I shot it. I usually don't lock MiG-21s till I know I'm within range as to not tip them off. Sometimes I switch it up and lock up one if there's a group to get them scrambling apart from each-other. Didn't have too much time to set in the wingspan selector, so I clicked it a few times in the middle of the fight. It should probably be a before takeoff or fence in item, but once I lost my radar I actually had to use it. Didn't know the setting for the MiG anyway though, so that will help for next time! The high AOA of the dogfight was on purpose. After I took the couple bullets from the MiG it actually shot off the nosecone somehow, which causes crazy drag. Knowing my radar was gone I figured this was the case. Since I wouldn't have much acceleration or top end speed I simply tried to shadow his movements and wait for his mistake, which eventually came to be when he went vertical and stalled. -
I feel like it would be good for everyone to have one location to go to in order to discuss A2A tactics in the Mirage. With this aircraft proving to be a force in DCS, it's only fitting we share experiences to sharpen the edge. Feel free to post your accomplishments from online game-play, comment, and discuss. I'll start. Vw9VCycZssY R8s3wVCY4Hw

Low speed handling of the Mirage makes MiG drivers furious He was promptly dispatched.

R8s3wVCY4Hw Rough day for these MiGs...

Eh, I was 7-0. Every time I ran out of missiles I'd just stay for guns. One burst is all I ever need. I do agree though, I love that server
-
I'm not sure how I feel about this, seeing as the -15E is still a highly classified aircraft. I'd rather opt for something that can be accurately modeled. EDIT: just saw it was somewhat discussed already. If the information is out there than go for it for sure

On the deck I find it very hard to believe it can't take out a non-maneuvering target on the deck at 2.4mi...
-
Launched a 530D , 2.4mi, at mach 1 chaing a MiG-21 also going mach 1. It ran out of steam and fell short. 2.4mi. Underwhelming is an understatement.

It's a bug on EDs end

Seeing how AWACs won't be able to distinguish a friendly F-15 from an enemy one, and the same is true for the person flying it, that's out of the question. You must not play much MP, because raygun calls do not work as I just mentioned, especially as the servers get larger and the 20 on 20 + scenarios happen. Who's going to know if it's a friendly or enemy locking them? Again, good luck telling a friendly from enemy F-15 in a dogfight, especially when the view distance is so limited. The MiG-21 IFF system is push-to-interrogate, the same way it works in the M2kc
-
If you don't, then enlighten us on how you would want it to be, seeing as even AWAC wouldn't know who you're talking about in the scenario... And we already know how well raygun calls work. There's always room for improvement, but you need to also be realistic in what you want out of the game engine when it's already taxed as it is. Until the coding is possible, an arcade IFF like half the aircraft in the sim have already will suffice.

Go somewhere else if you want to complain about issues RAZBAM cannot fix. There's no actual IFF transponder in any DCS aircraft. I absolutely cannot believe that out of everything in DCS you have an issue with being able to tell friend from foe, a matter that is a huge problem when you have a 20 on 20 furball online, but from the sounds of it, that's not really your thing anyway. If you want full SOP then why don't you be the one to create the mission? Very few would actually enjoy a mission like that because nobody really likes circling over the middle of nowhere for 10-12hrs without having the authority to release a weapon... With your logic, we should have airframe or engine failures ramped up as well. There's no way 50 aircraft IRL would be free of any MX bugs at the same time. We should have ~10 pilots sitting on the ramp for hours while their aircraft gets fixed too. We should also have to do our own walk arounds, check our own tire pressure, and sit in a 4+hr preflight brief. I can only hope you never get up to use the restroom when simming. Get those bags ready. The sim is the way it is for a reason- it works. As real as you would want to get on a home PC.

An aircraft weighing 20k+lbs won't move in the soft soil, it's not a bug.
-
Purely aesthetic reasons

You're making this into a much bigger deal than it needs to be. Go ahead and find unclassified material covering the operation of the RWR in the M2000C and forward it to the devs to get rid of this "war thunder recreation." You do realize that the RWR in the A-10 isn't correctly modeled either, right? Or how about the anti-jamming modes of the MiG-21? Let's not even get started with the GROM on the fishbed either, or any of the FC3 jets included in DCS. They simply don't know the intricacies of the jamming system, and for that reason it's simplified...... Just like the jamming systems in every other aircraft in DCS.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. In all reality, they released a statement saying explicitly there would be no IFF in the release, and that it was coming at a later time. Of course we all want it, but it's not like they don't want it in there at all. Give them some time.

Anyone else noticing intermittent radar functionality? One minute it's loaded with contacts, the next you can't get anything at all on. Tried cycling distances, cycling radar power, bar search, altitudes, and I know there's aircraft where I'm pointing, yet absolutely nothing is seen.
-
Make sure you turn the radar on using both the switch below the screen and the dial on the top left corner of the radar control panel under the throttle.

Current flight model seems almost excessively powerful As far as the completeness goes, many commands do not currently work, which hinders some of the playabiliy. Some systems are not modeled currently either, however will be fixed/updated soon. Instant action missions are included That being said, definitely pick it up. It will help RAZBAM out and you will get an awesome bird. Updates will be coming in fast

Quite a few commands do not work
-
I'm just amazed it's not the obvious choice, unless someone picked it up that we don't know about yet. The information is readily available, single seat, and widely requested. Sure, some older aircraft like the A-6, F-4, F-104, etc would be awesome additions in the future, but with the coding developed for more advanced systems and an entire sim already made (however dated), one would think it would be the obvious choice. Scrolling through these requests and it seems people don't realize that the system has to be almost fully unclassified in order to be a high fidelity model for DCS, which rules out aircraft like the F-117 and (most) newer.
-
Completely agree. Most other models mentioned have only one purpose as well, which makes marketing a little more difficult. A strike fighter of this caliber is a home run because of its extreme maneuverability, excellent ground attack role, has the only true wild weasel role IRL that everyone loves, and is modern enough to finally go up against the FC3 game aircraft. Once the DCS F-18 comes out the F-16 should be easy to create. The go anywhere, do anything aircraft.... And this coming from someone in the Navy.
