GTR with improved graphics and a reworked tire model alone is going to be great, a definite buy :)

The most manouverable non tvc fighter?
peterj replied to aimmaverick's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
That's a quote from a norwegian pilot, in the link below someone said SwaF sources stated that they won most of the dogfights. Also the Norwegian pilot did not say they won most dogfights, only that they (surprisingly?) could outmanuover it (sometimes?) :) http://www.f-16.net/f-16_forum_viewtopic-t-1029-postdays-0-postorder-asc-start-0.html Did the article say anything about BVR? -
The most manouverable non tvc fighter?
peterj replied to aimmaverick's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Gripen has probably one of the best airframes and FBW control systems out there (all swedes know that, and don't quote me on this one) ;) However t/w-radio, Gripen 10-12 N/K (depending on version) Rafale 19 N/K Some gripen highspeed turns at the end of this, http://www.flightlevel350.com/video_streaming.php?id=5139 Again I don't think it's shown its full potential. Cobra360, is that from a good source? Iv'e also heard that Gripen beat the norwegan F-16:s despite its lower t/w-radio since it bleed much less speed. -
The most manouverable non tvc fighter?

Some new fourth gen fighters should outperform it, Like Rafale; better thrust to weight ratio, unstable canard design, great energy preservance. However the Russian put of the best show with instantainious turn rates and probably less restrictive control systems. Also they push their fighters while the european are held short at displays. Kula66, this one? http://www.patricksaviation.com/aviation_videos/180/Mirage_2000D_-_Close_Call?go=download -
New 'Tutorial' Video: Su-25T FC Campaign Mission 001
peterj replied to Ironhand's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
"ok they had their chance, now it's our turn!" I wouldn't admit to be laughting at a lockon track, but your voiceovers are actually enjoyable :) -
if you like the F-14 you gotta see this
peterj replied to zoot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Just for the record, you don't need the source for that, what you need is a SDK :) -
Hey Wags, any new screenshots for today?
peterj replied to Fudd's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If Chizh is still around, or someone else in the know, I heard that the Ka-50 has no RWR? Will the vikhr missile have a fuse? What iv'e read is that it can be set before launch to use a fuse or not. Thanks for your input :) -
I'm familiar with the risks of relying on what you feel. This was in context visual landings, and what iv'e heard from the pilots at g-kraft.com feeling the aircraft gives useful information, depending on it might not the be right word tho :)

Igla, the best G2A missile in the game?
peterj replied to Shaman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I just completed that mission again, it's hard to hit those shikas with cosistency without getting nailed. It helps to attack from a direction that maximize the distance to the iglas. Also you don't want to expose your engines after the run if there's missiles inbound, better to pop flares, dodge the missiles and then break of. -
It could be done using beizer curves (pen tool) in Illustrator or photoshop.

I like the PS2 game, Ace Combat, because to me the flying maneuvering is more realistic... although a 450 KIAS A-10 certainly isn't. Does he say that maneuvering in Ace Combat is more realistic than LockOn or just that 'flying maneuvering' in general (not worrying about a bunch of keys) is more realistic? Seems like it could be the latter one to me since he also mention that the 450 KIAS A-10 in Ace Combat isn't realistic. Anyway I don't think the A-10 FM feels terribly realistic ither, I'm sure it would be different with AFM. Generally pilots with no real desktop sim experience have problems comparing them to the real thing. If you have sim experience you know there are certain things you can simulate and you look at those, i.e an airline pilot who i heard about couldn't say if MSFS flightmodel was realistic (or what was wrong with it/what could be improved) since he couldn't feel the aircraft, something you depend allot on in the real thing obviously.

new to lock on..patch question??
peterj replied to littlejohn1959's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Tracks can be unpacked anywhere in the LockOn folder (atleast), conveniently in Lock On\Missions\Tracks (that's probably where loman unpacks them) Then ingame you choose SHOW and locate the track. -
Allow me to summurize, Make switchboard from keyboard ;) j/k I guess you need some special kind of switches, to get connect-disconnect in one movement. Also the fact that LockOn uses many cycle keys creates som problems, eg if you where to make a knob for ripple intervall. But IIRC some MSFS cockpit makers use keyboard circuits and software to work around this. Anyway, it would be nice to have a row of switches click click click (might reassemble and old airliner better than lo jets but..) :p

I see all the planes in the editor, but only one appear when i load the track. I've played the track as it is, and in video edit, havn't changed anything with lotu tho. If anyone wan't to confirm if the the tracks work in 1.12a that'll be good.
-
Set it slow and early ;) The Su-25/t probably has the worst brakes. In my 20m/s crosswind landings iv'e sat it early but fast at 350 km/h, without the airbrakes you got some issues under those circumstances.
-
I found the tracks from 2005 here, but only the plane you follow show up in the replay (fighting air), any ideas? I tried to install the textures and roll back to 1.11, didn't help.

They could do some better coverage than last year, those lowres video streams with a locked external view on one plane was pretty pointless. The prizes could be better but I wouldn't mind a FORTIS B-42 Pilot Pro Crono, it's a nice watch :) The Pilot Pro Crono Alarm is nicer, but that's one expensive alarm function at $5800, the one you can win is $2200 (list prices). http://www.fortis-watch.com/en/collection/b42/pilot.html

The x45 does feel cheap, trottle and stick is feather light. Again it's throttle + stick for ~$100 (where i live). Personally i don't like the ergonomics of it. I have an MSFFB2, a great stick. Popular with the helisim crowd for it's accuracy and that it doesn't have a mechanical centering mechanism.

3screens - 1 PC : possible solution?
peterj replied to bflagg's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You think 60Hz is to low? No issue on TFT displays imo, since flicker isn't a problem. 60Hz ought to be enough for anyone ;) This is where you'd make good use of 'the fastest GPU you can get' * 2. -
What source are you referring to regarding the r-77? I know there are few individual parameters for missiles in lockon, which are those?

Or is the only way to completely disable force feedback?

Two New Video Renderings Available
peterj replied to Ironhand's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You could make use of some mirrors, perhaps some nice german bandwidth :) Great tutorials btw. -
I recently bought a MSFFB2 for €42 + shipping, got it today. It's a superb stick, nice even resistance (independent of "active" FFB effects). I like the AFMs force feedback. The SFM has no evident force fedback, except a rumble on AOA over limit/over G, where can decrease and/or remove this effect? Do you use any other driver than the default XP one, is there a difference?

Your numbers seems reasonable, the easiest way to test must be to enable the internal FPS-counter ;) ctrl+backspace For a more accurate fps comparison you can benchmark this track: http://forum.lockon.ru/showpost.php?p=164668&postcount=5
