I'd like to see everything in DCS. How is this a question?
-
Any idea what that seat is Cyph3r?
-
How soon will the base units start shipping?

Just a quick bump. Did some measurements and had a quick look around and found that if you just want a monitor behind them and are not interested in a realistic layout, a single 11.6 widescreen is almost an exact fit (just a few mm too tall in the vertical) for two MFDs side by side and you can get 1080P IPS panels for about $100. http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-LCD-Controller-Board-11-6-N116HSE-EA1-N116HSE-EJ1-1920x1080-IPS-LCD-Screen-/201828463170?hash=item2efde9f242:g:JEoAAOSwdGFYrloR

So how does the multiplier work then?

I can't imagine an airburst would be hard to implement, cluster bombs already dispense their munitions at altitude.

How do you intend to do the switches on the sides?

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
98abaile replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
I wish they'd drop their proprietary connector. The TM variant doesn't seem to offer anything over VirPil's offering and although I'd be interested in the Pro version as it's significantly better than VirPil's, I'm not now buying a new base just to go with it after buying VirPil's (which has the better mounting system and no dry clutch that could cause sticktion). All VKB have done by sticking to their connector is force them to create a extra product with new circuitry and wiring to manufacture. -
Is it possible to solder new button connections to the shift register inside? I know the controller can see more buttons, but how easy would it be to add more buttons to the stick? I'm thinking of an upgrade to thumb button (to a hat with button).

This and for exactly those reasons. The A-10c may look intimidating, but when you think about the way you are likely to learn to it, you always learn the flying and instruments first (ideally anyway). There's no point using a trainer first and then transitioning over to the A-10c to learn the weapons, since everything you learn in the trainer can be learned in the A-10c anyway, the trainer is redundant. The A-10c is easy and forgiving to fly and contains all the navigation and instruments you need, the only thing it doesn't have is radar.

How do I know if I have the 5% discount? Does it appear in the basket or do I not see it until checkout?
-
Sent an email too. Why does the pre-order have to be requested by email, why not just open up pre orders on the site?

So QFE at any runway should always give an altimeter reading of 0? In that case I'm pretty sure it's bugged, since whenever tower tells me the QFE and I input it, my altimeter doesn't read 0.

Same here. I really liked that they had come up with a mount system as it saves me from having to create something. My only concerns after that were the stability of the mount and the strength and toughness of the gimbal and springs. Those videos that were posted blew me away and then the fact that it now uses the TMWH connection and is plug and play just knocked it out of the park. I'm a bit iffy about the VKB dry clutch (due to sticktion concerns) and then this comes along that is pretty much everything I want in a stick except FFB. It's a no brainer, I'm completely sold on it.

Those are the ventral fins.

How do I pre order?

With regards to false contacts, rather than take them from the scenery, since you are already able to display the NAVFLIR image on the HUD, would it be possible to write a shader that uses the NAVFLIR image (even when it's not displayed) and shows Vs on high contrast boundarys? Then you only need to find a way to make them targetable like actual contacts.

I'd like a non wobbly warthog throttle with a decent slew controller and one extra rotary on the left throttle to mimic the F-15C antenna elevation control. Handles that bolt onto the throttle and can be unplugged and swapped out in a minute or two would also be great.
-
Damn, that is impressively robust! What are the extension pieces made out of. I assume my current warthog extension would work, but lighter pieces might be nicer.

Can we see a video demonstrating what kind of flex we can expect to see in the desk mount in use.

You seem to have a problem where you read what you want to rather than what is being said. It would be great if they didn't offer the map separately, so as to avoid confusion and compatibility issues. I never asked for anything for free.
-
It DOES makes sense to sell the asset pack separately, since the map is a pricey addon that some people won't want. But there are going to be very VERY few people who want the map without the assets, so it doesn't make much sense to sell the map separately.
-
You've missed the point. By offering the terrain without the asset pack, they've created a point of complication and confusion that simply wasn't necessary and the only thing it achieved was create friction in the forums and made ED look greedy (whether they are or not). Of course I bought the bundle, but it's already created problems for other people, all for the sake of a purchasing option that almost no one wants.
-
I think 80% of the issue could have been avoided if ED had simply not decided to sell the map without the assets. It could have been: here's our WWII scenario for $60 and if you don't want the map, you can buy just the units at a reduced price of $30. Instead we (seemingly) get: Here's our new WWII map for $50, but we're holding back part of it which you have to pay extra for, and you won't be able to join most WWII servers without it. You like complexity, right?
-
I can sort of understand releasing the assets as a separate product for those who wish to use WWII planes in Georgia and other maps without having to buy Normandy, but to sell the Normandy map without the assets is just going to cause confusion and give rise to accusations of nickel and diming the customer. I was always under the assumption that the assets were going to be included. Players are going to be furious if they bought just the map without knowing about the bundle and then find out that they can't play with the assets and they'll have to buy a whole module at extra cost just to be able to play. This was a horrendously bad decision on ED's part.
