Just to make sure, this: (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/ch-47f/) has not happened yet, right? (sorry for probably asking confirmation on the obvious, but since the Viper pilot body has been added, I've pretty much only been focusing on that module. Just want to make sure I didn't somehow miss the Chinook features list somewhere)

Didn't have time to test it, but this should work: Caucus Kutaisi edit.miz The AI will start up once you start taxiing (enter the trigger zone). Once AI is airborne (and you are too), it will start following you. You can fiddle around with the AI follow distance to your likings. You can also change both your and the AI aircraft and it should all still work (might want to double check if the follow action on the AI is still there when you change his aircraft). I also quickly added a radio F10 menu option, which you can use to tell him to stop following you (be careful when you do, as the AI wil instantly and fiercely steer for the nearest airfield). You can access the radio F10 menu by pressing \ Have fun

Not sure if I can open the mission without having all those mods (I'd be highly surprised if I can)
-
Attach your mission here and I'll try and have a look later today (please replace the Rafale by an aircraft that's not a mod. You can just change it back later)
-
It can be achieved several ways, but it'll require a simple triggered action. Best way, would be to use the late activation tick box for the AI aircraft (you can also set it "visible before start" so that you will see the aircraft and it won't suddenly spawn/appear out of nowhere, when activated). You then open the "triggers" window on the left side of the screen. Add new trigger and in the "condition" tab add a "time is more" condition and set the amount of seconds you need to startup. In the action tab add "activate group" and select the AI aircraft.
-
As long as you're in the air before the AI, it will start following you. So yes, late activation could help. Bare in mind AI will do anything to catch up with you as fast as possible (burn through all its fuel to do so). (I don't use user made mods as I like to keep DCS "clean", but it probably will also work fine with the Rafale mod)

Follow action for aircraft only works when airborne. On the ground they ignore all tasks until airborne. If they are airborne and the unit they need to follow (you) is still on the ground, the follow action is ignored and if no other actions or waypoints, it will land on the nearest airfield. What you can easily do, is start airborne. The AI will take off and start following you. It can also definitely be achieved with both aircraft starting from ground, but it'd require a few additional triggered actions (using the orbit action for the AI, a zone to detect the player being airborne, one or two flags). Actually all very basic mission editing stuff, but a bit too much for me to explain right now. If you attach your mission here in this post, I can easily create the mission for you (I should have some time to do that this weekend) Alternatively, if you don't mind that the AI aircraft is of the same type as yours; You can just use a wingman and then add to your own flight the action: "Formation" That will open a new window, where you can set formation to "close". That will make your wingman stick just right and aft of your right wing.

I recently started to update one of my "Operation Helping Hand" missions with all the awesome new eye candy objects from @Massun92 and while at it, decided to combine all my helo variants of this mission, into one. Hence: Operation Helping Hand - All helo modules - version 1.0 User files download: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3338396/ Available client slots (cold and hot): AH-64 Ka-50 (III) Mi-24 Mi-8 OH-58 SA342 UH-1 -------------------------------------------------- Situation Allied forces are under heavy attack and need your help a.s.a.p. until reinforcement M60 tanks arrive. They are defending Chuburhindzhi village, which is basically the last line of defense for Enguri bridge. - Take Off from FARP Tkaya - Follow Enguri river downsteam (South-West) until you fly over Enguri bridge - Chuburhindzhi village is about 2nm West from Enguri bridge Reinforcement M60 tanks are on the way from Zugdidi, but it will take them some time to arrive. Until then, you must try and help our forces repel the enemy. In this mission you can choose to bring supplies and reinforcements to the front, or just use the attack capabilities of your helicopter to fight of any enemy attacks. Check the mission briefing images and your kneeboard for pickup and drop zone details. - M113 fuel (slingload) --> Drop zone at CAMP CHARLIE (red smoke) - M60 MBT oil (slingload) --> Drop zone at CAMP CHARLIE (red smoke) - EWR parts (slingload) --> Drop zone at CAMP DELTA (red smoke) - Anti tank reinforcement team 1 --> Drop zone CAMP CHARLIE marked with green smoke - Mortar team reinforcement team 2 --> Drop zone CAMP CHARLIE marked with orange smoke It will help if you familiarize yourself with the target area and pickup/drop zones by checking the briefing photos. -------------------------------------------------- Objective Mission objective is to defend our allies at CAMP CHARLIE and suppress all opposing forces, until our reinforcement M60's arrive. Intel reports the following threats: Multiple enemy infantry units Multiple enemy armored vehicles (BDRM, BMD, BMP and possible T55) Possibility of mobile AAA units Possibility of enemy air attacks There are other skirmishes in the area, but focus on your task and set your priorities Mission designer notes: - At mission start, you'll get a short ingame briefing (just because I wanted to see if it's possible :P). Press spacebar at mission start, to skip this briefing. - All modules will be at your disposal both cold and dark & hot - Switching between client slots/modules won't break any triggers and can be done as much as you like - You can change loadouts as desired - In this mission, although obviously not realistic for some modules, all helo modules will be able to transport the anti tank and mortar teams, simply by landing in the pickup zone. - Slingloading cargo, will only be possible by slingload capable helo's - At some point during the mission, you can choose difficulty, by using or not using certain mission aids (might be needed for modules with less attack power) - Don't pay attention to the mission time in the briefing (changed my original "Helping Hand" mission stating time a bit, but didn't bother to update the ingame briefing) Nothing too fancy (no scripts included), but I use this mission for target and slingload practice, so I thought I might as well share it here. I didn't purchase the Kiowa (yet), so I haven't tested the mission in that module, but it should be al right and working. I did most of the thorough testing quite some time ago, so if you notice something broken, please let me know in reply to this thread.

The autostart should include full ins alignment imo. They could easily add a message saying -ins alignment in progress- Then, when it's done the switch goes to nav and autostart is complete. The only autostart I remember to have used, was in the AV8B, and iirc in that module ins alignment is part of autostart.
-
Not that it's a big deal but, although I personally hardly ever use the autostart function, for those who do use it this doesn't really make sense imho. I'd expect the autostart assist, to get the aircraft "taxi ready" But that's just my opinion.

It's not a wingman, it's a separate flight (you can't give it orders) How to achieve what you see here: Open ME Place your aircraft (player) Place a 2nd AI aircraft close by In the "waypoint action" of the AI aircraft, press "add" A new window opens (see screenshot below) where you can set the AI to follow you (you can just try out with the distance, elevation and interval values until it follows you where you want it to)
-
Not that it matters, but I believe the "dude" you're replying to, is a she Anyways, back on topic: From training point of view, I understand and support this wish. Just in case you hadn't thought of this yet @foxbravotiger, depending on what you want to train/do, as a work around for unlimited ammo/fuel, you could consider placing two client slot aircraft in your mission. Once the first one runs out of fuel/weapons, you can select the other slot (and you can keep doing that indefinitely)

Sale of Thrustmaster 150mm extension tube (UK-only)

I understand about how reflections work and as eye's have an offset, there's also a slight difference in what each eye sees, but when you look at the screenshot from NineLine, you can see the difference between left and right eye is quite big (depending on the angle, this difference gets bigger/smaller) I suppose that the reflection itself is a bit of artistic impression by ED. I mean I assume the reflection textures are programmed by ED and not automated some way (I don't know how that stuff works ). Some will say the reflection is too "white" or "big" others will say it should be bigger or more bright. What bothers me, is that my left eye is seeing something very different than my right eye. In real life that that difference is far less notable. (I don't know how to make a screenshot showing both VR lenses like NineLine did. Otherwise I could add some more examples)
-
Hi @NineLine, thanks for picking this up. Please read my OP carefully: I'm not saying I see the reflection in one eye only, I'm saying there's a (big) difference in what the left and right eye see. Once you see the reflection, put the game on pause, close your left eye, then open your left eye and close the right eye: you'll see the difference (and although a slight difference might be understandable/realistic, the current difference is too big and causes cross-eyed effect)

Nah, I agree, that's not worth it. Thanks for letting me know the 9900k is the max my 1151 socket can handle @Aapje. I didn't know that. I'll just accept that my pc is bleeding to death and try to squeeze out framerates for as long as I can. As said in my OP, I'm still enjoying DCS, even if it's just with simple missions. On the plus side, when I do find the funds for a new pc, the improvement will be massive

need track replay F-16C bl50 problem with air to ground weapons
sirrah replied to ReveWolf's topic in Bugs and Problems
By default I believe MP track files are automatically saved here: C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\DCS\Tracks\Multiplayer Note that DCS by default automatically saves all track files of every MP session you do (might want to clean up that folder once in a while as it keeps growing with files you normally don't use/need). You can disable the automatic saving edit: I got sniped by @Lord Vader -
(this calls for that cheerleader emoji with the pompons down low, but I can only add the cheering one..) So, the 8700k is (one of the) last cpu's with a 1151 socket? Admittedly, I haven't done proper research on this part yet. Well in that case, my idea indeed just died As for the GPU, I was thinking about a "slightly" better one. not a 4xxx range, but perhaps a 3070(ti) or something like that, but yeah, if the cpu upgrade is out of the question, it's farewell to the gpu upgrade as well. Thanks for your reply. This was just the first Google hit I got. I'll be more careful in trusting them next time. Thanks mate. Advise taken. Seems that I'll just have to accept to put DCS on the back burner for a while (or at least stick to the occasional simple missions)

I'm not a total layman when it comes to building pc's, but enough of a layman to have to ask this (so please take it easy on me if my question is silly or extremely obvious ) When purchasing a CPU (for a DCS dedicated pc), what should I be mainly focussing on? I currently have an i7-8700k, and simple me would assume that an i7 with a higher number behind it, is always faster and better, but is that true? For instance; I came across a reasonably priced 2nd hand i7-12700F, but I notice that the speed of the individual cores of the 12700F, is actually (much) lower than the speed per core of my 8700k (8700k vs 12700F). Overall though, the 12700F gets a much higher score. So, am I correct, that for DCS the CPU speed per core is more important than the total speed of all cores together? Or can anyone explain (for a simple man like me ) how I should interpret this? Bit of background on my question: I've build my current pc back in 2019 (see specs in my signature). Obviously, by now it is very outdated for DCS in VR. DCS is still very enjoyable for me, but over the years my gfx settings went down to, by now, pretty much the bare minimum. Going lower would mean not being able to read cockpit gauges anymore. With DCS evolving (updates and fancy new eye candy modules), I notice that while simple missions are still very well playable, online play and more complex SP missions are starting to get unpleasant. Both my limited available DCS playtime and my wallet (in the process of several home improvement projects), I can't justify the expenses of a full blown new and up to date pc. So, I was thinking, perhaps if I come across a well priced 2nd hand GPU and CPU, I could do like an affordable midlife update and enjoy DCS a few more years. My CPU and GPU are bottlenecking my current pc. I'd have to investigate what newer GPU and CPU can be added in my current pc, without also having to upgrade the psu, motherboard and case (size).

List of paid aircraft modules that support visible Pilot Body for VR users
sirrah replied to TORC's topic in Virtual Reality
Only just found out about this thread. As a day one pilot body fan boy (, ok that came out strange, don't read this the wrong way please), I very much like your initiative @TORC! This list is quite useful for potential buyers that don't like empty cockpits. Perhaps though you could add a note or a colour, to indicate if a pilot body is planned for that module. For instance, for the A-10C-II I know the feature is planned, but for the JF-17 I don't know if a pilot body is planned at all (that's one of the reasons I haven't purchased that module).- 49 replies

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
sirrah replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Wow, that's so cool! I'm still very much enjoying my Pointctrl set (first version) everytime I play DCS. Can't imagine DCS without them. One of my charging cables stopped working some time ago (probably a broken wire near the jack plug) and the other one is hanging by a thread (also at the plug), so this new charging cable is a really good upgrade and takes away the "weak" spot of the first gen Pointctrl. Awesome work Miles!- 3421 replies

Not sure what it is you're growing, but it must be good

I don't think that would work well with the nice new pilot body. But as @Jackjack171 said, it's no biggie. Only for quick training missions (where you start airborne), it would be handy to start at the desired seat height.
